They are small, short, provide a well-written and consistent story, and utilize a variety of units. You can find the set over at the Scenario Depot

Hi I'm still a newbie, having only bought the game 4 days ago, so I took this advice, and d/l all 8 of the "No rest for the weary" scenario's. I'm currently battling my way through the first one, and it's great fun as well as helping me find my way around the game. I have to say too, I love modders, they are brilliant and I have d/l a lot, including some sky mods, terrain mods and loads of others, they really enhance the playing of this game. I also might add, I've never been a wargamer, more an RTS gamer, so I play this game with no pre-concieved ideas about war games. Guess that makes it much more fun huh? Oh, and I see I jumped the gun, as the sequel is due out any time, oh well, I guess I will have to say goodbye to another £30 then :D

    two possible reasons:

    1. You have installed Deanco's Gunmetal interface mod without the Font Fix.

    2. It could also be a driver issue with Nvidia-based graphic cards. In that case head over to the Tech Forum.

Ahhhhhhh, Mike thanks, I have installed the Gunmetal Mod, what do I do about the fonts?

P.S. It's ok Mike thanks, I went and read the read-me and have altered the bitmaps as instructed, everything is fine and readable now smile.gif Once again, many thanks :D

  3. I got one of my Brit Rifle Squads in a bit of a predicament last night, advancing to contact they got hit on by a German HMG Team on a hill overlooking the valley they was crossing. I lost half the squad and tried to get the rest to withdraw to the safety of some woods behind them, but they wouldn't, or couldn't! So I thought, to hell with this, and set them to run up the hill straight at the German HMG Team in their foxhole. Imagine my suprise when the Germans broke, and left the cover of their foxhole and hightailed it off to the rear, leaving it conveniently for my winded, but grateful tommies :D I'm a newbie, but I thought this little action was worth reporting as I was quite chuffed with my Brit Infantry, being an ex infantry man myself, oh and I just LOVE this game, only had it for 2 days, but it's been keeping me in front of my computer for hours on end smile.gif

  4. I just got the game yesterday, and there is a bonus CD with it now, Scenario's and over 360 MGB of Mods. One question, why is it in the CMOS that a lot of the MODS are unavailable? And another question, sorry, I'm a newbie, can anyone suggest a couple of scenario's that are best for a newbie to start with, apart from the tutorial? smile.gif Thanks in anticipation!

The suggestion of burning the area behind the bunker door would be less attractive if there were a chance that the fire would spread to the bunker itself -- which would be one of the real world concerns.

Maybe fires should be able to spread?

    A call for enhancement?"

I totaly agree with you on this one tar. Adding a wind effect in this game could make it even more interesting... Your smoek shells etc would have to be placed differently, and fires would have to watched closely! ESPECIALY in very dry gournd conditions where a fire could start many meters from the first one!

As an ex MFC (Mortar Fire Controller) with the British Army I agree with this. Getting smoke, and light at night, on target was totally dependant on weather conditions and some good calculations by the MFC. I've seen many a smoke screen wasted due to high winds and incorrect calculations. It would be an interesting addition to CM2!
  7. Hmmmmmmmmm, now your giving me a lot to think about, lol, oh well, starting with a new game is never easy, I guess I'll have a look round all the excellent sites I have already found for this game, and trust to trial and error (with not too many errors, I hope!) to find out what I like best. Again, thanks to everyone for your advice smile.gif I have a AMD Athlon 900mhz processor, and pretty good graphics, and when I last checked, about 13Gb of HD memory still available, so I think I'll be ok on the hardware side!

  8. Hi guys, I've just ordered Combat Mission, and I wondered if anyone could advise me on patches/upgrades etc. for graphics and sound that I would require to make the game look and sound better, I understand there are quite a few around, but which ones should I download? Thanks in anticipation smile.gif
