AI cheats! (with real data)
GWDWD replied to Warren Peace's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Lt. Kije, Is it fair to say that Bayes' Theorem is a way to go from sensitivity, specificity, and prevalence to positive predictive value and negative predictive value? That's kinda what I've been thinking... Dammit, I love statistics. Guy -
AI cheats! (with real data)
GWDWD replied to Warren Peace's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Love it! I'm in the middle of an intermediate-level statistics course and almost posted (in the general forum, naturally) a question about Bayes' Theorem a month or so ago. I can do the calculations but I was/am having trouble understanding what it really means. "But who would know THAT sort of thing?", I asked. Guy P.S. If anyone can explain Bayes' Theorem to me, please do!! [ November 03, 2002, 12:38 AM: Message edited by: GWDWD ] -
See subject. I did a search that didn't turn up much, and though my better judgment says "post this in the tech support forum so only those who are used to people like me will see it"... Is there a step-by-step tutorial somewhere that walks us "cranially challenged" folks through posting screenshots? I have saved a bunch of them that I'd love to share but I don't know how. Is there free webspace out there to host a few screenies at a time? How can I use my AOHell homepage to do this? I need help both with the putting them on the web part and the linking to them part. Any and all help would be appreciated! Putdowns too so long as they are witty and/or original!! Guy

Well, KwazyDog, since you're in one of those moods, perhaps you can tell me how to hex edit the game so that the Panthers have a 175 mm gun... Guy [Edit: oops, need to put the wink in, else someone might take me seriously!] [ October 11, 2002, 01:28 AM: Message edited by: GWDWD ]

Funny, I typed a Madmatt-ish response to this one saying that the bmps are copyrighted, etc., but I thought better and deleted it rather than posting. And soon after, here comes KwazyDog to goad them on. Guy [edit: Replaced with the proper ] [ October 21, 2002, 01:20 AM: Message edited by: GWDWD ]

Bump. Is there a list out there? Guy

Has anyone compiled a list of models that did not make it onto the CD? Thanks, Guy

Have you been playing too much CMBB?
GWDWD replied to Malakovski's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Tonight as I was carrying groceries in from the car, I glanced down at the Diet Dr. Pepper 12-pack and did a double take. I saw the outline of a vehicle beside what looked like the word "Panzerjager"; what it really said was was "Wranglers", as in the Jeep SUV. They are doing some kind of giveaway. (Of SUVs, not tank hunters.) I think this counts as a sign of playing too much Combat Mission. Guy -
The Scenario Depot has gone ?? OK I'VE FOUND IT
GWDWD replied to Pascal DI FOLCO's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
It still won't let me post a review for CMBB scenarios. I get the same error message as before. Admiral Keth, you don't really need to go to work every day, do you?? And though I really appreciate all the work everyone does to maintain their CM websites, I think having a place like the Depot where a (nearly) comprehensive list of scenarios is available is a great benefit rather than having them just scattered all over kingdom come. Guy -
I'm not crazy, I tells ya, I'm not! I don't care what Madmatt and that team of psychiatrists say!! Why would part of the FOW be turned off (enemy's global morale and morale status labels displayed on screen) when the rest of the FOW stuff was still on (partially identified units, unit markers displayed on-screen, etc.)?? Will send the file when I get home. (Hey, what's with that straight jacket? Leave me alone! I don't want to go with youepoiwer[pkodfssdddsdf

Hmm... doing a little sleuthing. Seems to be some sort of FOW issue. I've never played with no FOW so I didn't know that you could see your opponent's units' morale playing that way. (Set up a QB with no FOW to verify this.) But two weird things. First, the scenario I mention above was started and saved last night and I know I was using extreme FOW. When I opened it tonight it had apparently switched settings. And second, in this scenario I could also see the AI's global morale, which (according to the no FOW QB I set up) you aren't supposed to be able to do. Anyway, I'm confused. (I know, what else is new...)
-
Hmm... now it's doing it for several enemy units. Guy
-
Just watched my Russian FT shoot some hot stuff at a German MG? from about 35 meters. I had the labels turned on and watched as the game displayed the enemy's morale go to pinned... then panic... then briefly back to pinned... then whoooooooosh back to panic. What's going on? Never seen anything like this before. Not that it's a big deal, but still strange. Guy

Admiral, Just tried to post my review again and got the same error. Will email you with the details. Guy -

GWDWD replied to Pascal DI FOLCO's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Thanks, Admiral. Fortunately I saved my review as a Word document, so I'll try again when I get home from work. Wouldn't want the world to miss out on all my incisive comments... And I'm also looking forward to the day that the original CMBB CD scenarios are posted cuz I've been taking notes on those, too. Thanks again, Guy -

Admiral, I tried to post a CMBB scenario review last night and got an error message. (Can't remember what the message was, it may have been a 404 error.) Are you sure it's working as it should? Also, will you eventually have the scenarios that came on the CMBB CD available for review as well? Not sure what the ability would be of you to post them for download since they're copyrighted, though I know you have the original CMBO scenarios on the site. Thanks for all your efforts; your work is of huge benefit to the CM community. Guy -
OK, what he said. [Actually, since they are on backorder it doesn't look like getting them in a big hurry is going to happen in any case. Let's see how many folks we are talking about; I like to think that people are basically good, but I'd prefer to not have hundreds of dollars invested in this for complete strangers...] Guy [ September 29, 2002, 05:21 PM: Message edited by: GWDWD ]

I search someone to forward CMBB to Belgium.

Asschen, I sent you an email. Please let me know ASAP if you want it, else I'll find someone else. Also, I presume you're looking for the Windows version... Guy -

Yeah, a mods forum. And a forum for complaining about CDV. Guy
