  1. I have to admit that I am with KDG, Moon, and Rambo on this thread, it has been by far one of the most distracting lately! Hubert
  2. Strange errors indeed. Can you try a couple of things and see if they make any difference: 1) Open up your SC.ini file (located in your SC installation directory) and make sure the line for sound interruption reads 'sound interrupt = 1' and not 'sound interrupt = 0' 2) If this does not help, then try changing the line 'directx = 1' to 'directx = 0' Hubert
  3. The graphics package from the retail release is not yet available for download via Battlefront but should be ready sometime in the near future. Hubert
  4. With many modifications and changes inspired by gamer comments we are proud to announce the availability of the new v1.07 Strategic Command European Theater patch. Read the full feature list HERE Download the v1.07 patch HERE Enjoy! Hubert
  5. Just wanted to say thanks for the feedback and testing everyone, the patch is now officially available here: http://www.battlefront.com/products/stratcom/download.html Enjoy! Hubert
  6. Believe me it's not that I disagree, there was a request a while back that any minors should still be able to collect if they were in the game, like Canada if England falls, or Finland if Germany falls etc., so this is what I have done with v1.07. The ideas here do make sense but are just not viable within the current game engine... although definitly something to consider for future games Hubert
  7. Just a thought here but what you could try is making a copy of the Campaign Editor from the previous v1.07 patch and then dropping it in after you apply the latest v1.07 patch and see if that works. Hubert
  8. This is a strange error, I tried to reproduce it on both my WinXP machine and Win98 by installing from CD and then immediatly applying the latest patch (using default directories) to no avail... it worked in both cases so I'm not sure what to say. Anyone else with this issue? Hubert
  9. Took a quick look at this and with Portugal, Canada and Iraq still in the war and the USSR giving full supply to Iraq the Allies should still be collecting 120 MPP's in the game which is about what you noticed. Let me know if the exact situation in your game is not as described here and I'll take another look. Hubert
  10. That is strange, perhaps try disabling DirectX in your 'SC.ini' file and see if that helps. Change the line 'directx = 1' to 'directx = 0'. Hubert
  11. Can you be more specific as to how the editor stopped working, any error messages etc? With the application of the latest patch it should be no different than any other patch and the editor should continue to work without a hitch. Hubert
  12. Unfortunately I'm not really prepared to speculate on a timeframe or to divulge the contents just yet, but keep in mind that the original took me a couple of years to develop so this might put things into perspective considering I am still a one man development team.... but hopefully this time around won't be as long a wait as last time (believe me it's better for me as well) Hubert
  13. Thanks for the questions and comments in this thread from everyone, and while I don't disagree with most if not all of the ideas found here and in other threads, unfortunately for SC, other than the final release of patch v1.07 there will be no more changes to the current game engine. There are a variety of reasons for this which I won't get into here , but I accept everyone's patience until the release of SC2, thanks! Hubert
  14. Hey I thought you said you were done reporting bugs Ok what's happening here is Russia was always given a small amount of per turn income (going back to v1.0 of SC), I think it's roughly 10% of it's total per turn income until it entered the war where it's industry would then fully gear up etc. to 480 MPP. This is how it ends up with 720 MPP if you declare war on it June 22, 1941 with the 1939 Fall Weiss Campaign, if you declare war before then it will be less and after that date it will be more and so on. This was as you guessed to represent it's active war economy and to balance things out gamewise. The addition of the bonus MPP's to Italy and USA (added in later versions of SC) was to provide a check for early declarations of war against the US by the Axis or by early declarations of war by the Allies against Italy (there was a bug as a part of this addition that overwrote any start amounts set in the editor for the US and Italy until the v1.07 fix). The problem with the Barbarossa campaign is that I set the initial start MPP's for Russia to be 720 MPP's to match the exact amount they should have on June 22, 1941 if you began with the 1939 Fall Weiss campaign but forgot that at the beginning of each campaign each country does a one time collection so this is how Russia starts with 1200 instead of 720. So if you feel that Russia starts with too much then all you have to do is edit the start amount to 240 and when the Barbarossa campaign starts it will have the correct 720 MPP's (240 + 480 one time collection at start of campaign) Hope this helps, Hubert
  15. The numbers are correct for Barbarossa I just forgot that at the beginning of any new game all sides do a one time collection of MPP, so this gives the USSR 720 + 480 = 1200 MPP at the beginning of the Barbarossa campaign, but if started normally (as you found) in 1939 and the Axis declare war on June 22, 1941 the USSR will start with the desired 720 MPP. Either way this can be adjusted by editing the campaign using the Campaign Editor and resetting USSR income to 720 - 480 = 240. Hubert
  16. Sounds like your opponent is either not running v1.07 anymore or the PBEM file has become corrupted via email transmission. Try compressing the PBEM files with Winzip or something similar and this should avoid most problems with PBEM files as some E-mail programs strip the PBEM file for some reason. Hope this helps, Hubert
  17. Yeah the patch includes a blank 'SC.ini' file that will have to be reset if needed. Hubert
  18. I think you might have narrowed it down with respect to the mod files. This is a known issue I've seen first hand with a high number of 24-bit bmp files and precisely why the original game files are mostly 8-bit. To be honest I'm not sure of the critical mass numbers here, but what I've done and seems to work well is to convert finalized 24-bit files to 8-bit using a graphics editing program. Most will allow you to do optimized conversions where very little detail is lost. If you don't have access to high end stuff, there are trial versions of some pretty good editing programs available like Paint Shop Pro etc. which should do the trick. http://www.jasc.com/ Or if you are familiar with programs like ACDSEE, it will allow you to do this type of conversion quite easily as well. Hope this helps, Hubert
  19. If you had to reinstall from CD you might be running v1.0 if you have yet to install the latest patch. This is only my guess since v1.0 was known to crash as you've described with incompatible game files from different versions. Hubert
  20. If the menus are slower now you might need to reset the line 'sound interrupt = 0' to 'sound interrupt = 1', this is an issue on some systems that cannot play sound asynchronously making button clicks appear really slow. Hubert
