  1. Well then we agree that everyone here has the right to speak thier mind. I didn't bring up the criticism of your signature, but I agree that it is rude and provocative, which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so pointless. Anybody can say anything one time and then realize it was wrong. Sharon would have to have been an advocate of that position before you could actually pin such a rediculous statement on him.
  2. Hey Spartan, so how are you going to make me shut up and listen? Say what ever you want, I'll respond with what ever I want. But I will not break the rules of this forum, for Dogface is right of course. I rarely even get into these but this one kind of pulled me in.
  3. Leopard, Good 'ole boy in german. Find a region in Germany where the inhabitants are quite different than other Germans, to the point that they might actually prefer not to be part of Germany (Bavaria?). And they have their own accent an distinctive customs. Then locate a member of that community that is the embodyment of the people that live there. What term would his friends and countrymen use to refer to him so that an outsider would know where he comes from?
  4. Is this freedom of speech? Of course. You can say any old stupid thing you want, and we can say any old stupid thing back. I'm amazed at how many people have construed freedom of speech to mean that they can do all the talking and everyone else has to shut up and listen. I sent my check, did you? Sure, the N word. But you can say any old thing about me you want and no will be offended.
  5. Ashbery, Of course, power and popularity are what gives life to any activity or goal. Logic is just the post game scramble to figure out WTF just happened.
  6. Sirocco, My point is not that it doesn't matter what leaders say. My point is that things don't become so just because leaders say so. Nor do they become so simply because scribblers say so in the news, or in novels.
  7. A stupid and ignorant signature. A stupid and ignorant argument about it's authenticity. Does it matter a fig if Sharon said it or not? If Clinton claimed there was no gravity would the empire state building float into the air? Does a girlyman have a whiny and rediculous signiture? Does she then whine at the retorts? Steiner, get a real life, be a real man, become human.
  8. I'm intrigued, but don't want to get an unfair jump on my opponent.
  9. I hate to be a nit-picker, but this particular '65 VW body wasn't in production until late in the war, I think early '45. Most of them were equiped with salvaged .50 cals, so the dual MGs are not quite historically accurate. Also, although there isn't a clear view of the rear, the extra space needed for the ammo containers neccessitated the use of an external fuel tank in the rear. This made them extremely vunerable to carefully aimed rounds from late model Shermans.
  10. Hey that's a new one on me! They can actually see farther than infantry? Is this due to the scope, or are the snipers modeled as carrying binoculars? I know I seem lame about snipers, but I only just started really thinking about how to use them.
  11. junk2drive, I'm playing that op too. Here's a possibility. If you make the weather snow and freezing, with conditions in each battle variable, then the fords stay in the editor. But if you make the conditions snow and freezing for all the battles like I did, then the fords go away in the editor. I'm going to experiment a little.
  12. I get that vehicles can't cross frozen fords even if they are shallow in CMAK, I was just asking if that was realistic. But the point about not being able to detect them makes sense. I guess it's a situation.
  13. I get your point about other platoons getting in behind, but I had closed the gap. Nonetheless, I get what you are saying. Even the question of the wider overall front line could make a difference IRL. For instance if the battles axis was at an angle to the main front.

  16. Kingfisher, Can't believe everything you read. I think the author took some great photos but completely balled up the info. Will
  17. Pull him back, put him where he's hard to see, let him concentrate on his targets, he's a sniper, he doesn't need to be close. In the Cecina case I had him way back in scattered trees between buildings, he really had a keyhole to shoot through. But he was lined up on the ridge that the tanks would have to go over. So when he nailed the TCs the tanks forze in place which gave my Tiger great targets.
  18. I'm working on an operation. It is freezing with snow. There is a river running through it. In the editor I have placed shallow fords on the river. When I reopen the file the fords have disappeared. I can understand why deep fords disappear, but why can't vehicles cross a frozen river at a shallow ford? Maybe trying to was just too dangerous so it was never done? Is this a bug, or a situation?
  19. I'm playing an operation where the Germans have gotten a platoon behind me on the flank. During the battle I'm holding the main town. I have a platoon in the rear that can move around freely to pin down the Germans there, or support my troops in town. The Germans are pinned down and can't move without getting nailed. When the battle ends and the AI creates the boundaries for the next battle, my troops are completely surrounded and locked down. The Germans are free to move anywhere around the town including behind it. The dynamic is completely reversed. Has anyone had this happen? Could the AI be improved in this regard?

  22. I'm beginning to like snipers, when I can get them. I played a Cecina battle recently. When I saw the Allied tanks coming across the fields I slipped a sniper into a nice comfy spot, with plenty of scattered trees and a little elevation, and left him to his own devices. That dude spanked those tank commanders. Gave me all kinds of time to line a Tiger up on them.
  23. Please excuse the typos, my editor ran off with my dog.
  24. In my never to be humble opinion, it's like lightning, moving around doesn't help, you still have the same random chance to getting hit. Since the aircraft can't really target accurately anyway, you are as likely to drive into a bomb as away from it. But, dispersing if you are closer thatn 100m is definitely a good idea. Othere than that I would just keep on with my original plan of attack, stay unbuttoned so you can use your .50s and pray for the best. William
