Historical Question, Tracers
BeauCoupDinkyDau replied to Phantom Captain's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Yeah, just send me an e-mail with the time you want to play. I have an apponitment in about five hours (4pm my time). I am open to any type of fight, just keep it within 800-1200pts. I think this will suit you anyway, as tracking tons of units would be annoying when you're sick. Hope you feel better. Tis the season. -

Hey LD, you up for our match? -
Give me five reasons to buy this game

The Capt is right. The CM series is everything a wargamer/WWII historian could ever want in a wargame (short of a fully holographic game). The only thing the CM lacks is a full campagin mode, but this is very minor compared to what you do get with the CM games! Once you pop the CM disk into your CDROM, it is very hard to go back to any other type of wargame. -
Are history books wrong?
BeauCoupDinkyDau replied to desertrat1943's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Yeah, I remember reading somewhere how German TH teams would hide out and smoke dozens of these things with 'fausts as they "tank wave rushed" the German positions. And these were late war T-34/85s! [ October 18, 2002, 12:14 PM: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ] -

I agree with Commisar, Kwazy. I wouldn't mind a crappy low res texture for some unit that would otherwise have to keep a substitute model. Let the modders shine it up. Maybe an optional final patch that has no gameplay enhancements or bug fixes, but has the remaining unreleased models. This way, you wouldn't have to download it to have a "complete" game. It would just be an option for those of us that want those models. This is of course assuming that you run out of time to replace all models. BTW, thanks for putting the Nimrod in this patch! My whining has paid off!! My opponent's aircraft can kiss their arses good-bye! [ October 18, 2002, 12:58 AM: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

Review of CMBB Says It's Dull!!!
BeauCoupDinkyDau replied to Wally's World's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Man, I hate it when twich-RTS-click fest-rocket jumpers review anything. If it dosen't have a minigun or a nade launcher, it gets dogged. I'll wait for the more objective reviews (both negitive and positive) to see what the non-wargaming community thinks. Not like it will effect my opinion though. No, you have to replace bmps. CM mods are just "skins," and not new additions to the game code. Hence, the only thing you can replace in CM are bmps (skins) and wavs (sounds).

Yeah, you could probably release that one now. It looks good. Did you fix the white on the sides of the rear MG housing? [ October 16, 2002, 04:53 PM: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ] -

Now that looks REALLY good! It's got the grime and used look a tank should! Still a little too rusty on the sides, but I myself could live with that! -
New Command Feature - Berzerker Mode!
BeauCoupDinkyDau replied to Foobar's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Most of my men just run scared ****less from enemy fire. They don't have time to shoot each other. Maybe it's those "good" Germans killing their "evil" Nazi comrades we are always hearing about. -
Thanks guys. I took a lot of work tracking down all the bmps needed to do this (most do not share similar numbers to thier CMBO counterparts), but the real work came from the original creator. I wonder who did the CMBB Axis guns anyway? They smack of Marcus B. They share that cartoonish, high res, high detail that his 37mm flak gun does.
