  1. The glorious men of the company now known as Horten's men have just begun a late march offensive against the red positions. Fully resupplied and at full strength, the loss of there first CO, has taken a bit out of all of them, but Horten, the legend who beat Himmler's drunk cousin in a drinking game has pulled the men together for a major push against the enemy. Meanwhile in Germany, Herr Rausch was laid to rest in a small plot outside Berlin with friends and family looking on. We will remember him. BCR is taking my life away. Please stop!
  2. Has it been delayed? I signed up twice for the German side and got a msg - Object Moved. It is past 2101 GMT isn't it?
  3. You can, do it through the Scenario Editor. It allows you to change individual units exp. Then load map and force into the QB Generator. To easy. Oh and you may want to random generate a new map in the scenario editor.
  4. Bah my men love Horten. He's a wise man who can hold his liquor. He even beat Himmler's cousin in a drinking match! So? Peace and quiet. Wheres the downside? No I switched to Panzer IIIJ's and StugB's. My Panzer III's with 60mm armour I miss em. Why did the Germans go back to 30mm with the Panzer IIIJ's? H does come before J doesn't it? 5. It is a sad day for the German Army. Herr Rausch was ambushed in the rear lines and killed by a roving recon squad in thick fog. Well my CO's dead so now I'm really bogged down in March 1942. I personally dislike the officer replacement rules. I mean I think a Company Captain would know how to fight and would't be a conscript off the street. So Lt. Horten of my 1st Platoon has been given the honour leading the company. Now known as "Horten's Men." Herr Rausch who had served since Barbarossa had led his men through some great victories and through the winter of 41. Famous for his lame jokes and one liners, his bullet riddled body was retrieved from his Kubelwagon and sent home to Germany for burial. BCR, You get really attached to your men.
  6. To all the men of the 3rd platoon of Herr Rausch's company. Well done at holding off a human wave attack of battlion strength. We'll show these reds who is superior and we'll all be hme by Christmas. +++++Situation. Forward deployment in open field. 3rd platoon (Luckily at full strength and full ammo), with the Company CO are situated in a trench with a Bunker MG to cover a flag in a small patch of trees on the Russian Steppe. Entire Red Force of conscript infantary charge forward with light tanks and tankettes in support. The men of the third platoon and the Company CO held them back for ten minutes of game time. With the enemy only 50 metres from the trench line the men of the third platoon who had already by now suffered an artillery bombardment, was luck with the timely arrival of the battle groups tank platoons and the first platoon who race forward in support of there comrades. Some kills Company CO - 48 Squad 3 - 74. WELL DONE MEN!
  7. Oh, <sniff>, I get a mention. March is not mid - way. Has to someone else in 42 by now! Hey I've got bogged down in the Russian Spring Offensive, so I won't reach May - June anytime soon. Biltong - Probs with 42. -No Rules for replacements between the months of Jan - May. (I've been using June - August ones for the hell of it). -Those Date Modifiers suck. Haven't used em. (Sorry). -Pure Armour Battles are impossible for what armour we get in 42. AI will always buy T34's and KV's. Thats just me. Plus it's unrealistic in my opinion. -Trucks and Kubelwagons. Whats the point it's impossible for them to increase there experience except by replacements, and they can only go down in experience when they are forced to bail out. I say ditch em, just more units to worry about. -In regards to favour, going through and seeing if an enemy mortar is abandoned or KO'ed is very annoying! Same with tanks etc. Make it easier and it will attract more people. -Give some favour for killing inf. I say 1 Favour pt for every 50 enemy casulties. I just held off an enemy human wave with two platoons! I should get some credit from my superiors! -Lots of the fields are obvously blank. I'll see what I cn dig up in my history books. (Again). -Wouldn't have a clue how you propose to run those big battles. Stalingrad etc. Would like to know -Yeah thats all I can think of right now. Keep up the good work. Oh what do I have to worry about? Full time student doing a double major at Uni, part time job, vice prez of a Liberal Club, on two commitees at work, on the commitee for my social minature wargaming club. Man lucky I have no kids!
  8. I WAS defending! But I was steam rolled by two platoons of T-34's. No chance when your main guns are 50 mm and 75 mm. (Alright maybe the 75 mm, maybe). I say ditch pure armour. It's not really realistic having tanks prance around the front lines without some inf in support. At least with the inf. I can hide and throw tonnes of explosives on em! My hate list..... -T34's -Artillery Barrages -Assaulting a force double yours in size at night in a blizzard. -Having to face a battallion of Inf of low quality and unfit who are assaulting you in a blizard. The AI is stupid they never reach you. -Pure Armour Battles -That stupid Battallion Commander who sent me to assault a soviet position at night in a blizzard. Yeah, I'm having fun
  9. What I do is load a new scenario. Buy my men and generate a random map in the scenario editor. Delete all flags and deployment zones. Then load a QB and import the map and units from the file. Easy as. Comp takes care of the rest. If some of my men gain or lose exp. I just change the individual exp for the unit in the scenario editor and repeat the process over.
  10. Is anyone else up to 42? As in finished 41 is carrying on with 42? Damn I'm already up to March and thats with Uni. How ya do it? Dedicate yourself and play one game every night! Oh and some nice rolls of 3 weeks between each battle. The snow is finally melting and my men are glad as they feel some warmth return to their bodies. Had a bad exp however. Panzer IIIJ's don't take on T34 all that well. I hate pure armour engagements. All me Panzer crews from 41 are strewn about in some bushes in the Soviet Union now. I bled with those men. <Sob> To brighter news, now my company is about to face some Soviet force in the open. Fun. Oh and biltong the parameters sheet in the PDF set is the 41 one. ie, no Jan - May in the month line.
  11. Quick Fix The PDF "parameters" document is a Core Sheet. Not the parameters sheet.
  12. Yep - 1st version now available... Just preparing it to be posted on the web sites, but if you have finished 41... REALY FINISHED IT! mail me and I'll send it along ... otherwise just wait a day or 2 and it will be available for download on the sites (see 1st post of this thread for the download sites)... Hope you'll enjoy it as much as 41. You'll see I cut a lot of the extra explanations out of it, making it a bit shorter. Newbies will be adviced to start with 41 since that has all the bells & whistles as far as 'explaining How & Why' goes. Biltong </font>
  13. How does one enter the meta camapign as a lower ranking officer? Looked around the wbsite but couldn't ind instructions. If the games full then no worries.
  14. Funny June - July was really easy with tonnes of everything for me. Re-check your parametres or if you can put them up here. All on your own is what the Russian winteris for.
  15. That equation would not equal zero but 425. (1-0) = 1 / 1 = 1 times that by 425 equals 425. But that figure where 425 is, is also meant to include your Core Force and attached units. If I'm wrong thats how I did it. Curently I'm freezing my a** off deep inside Russia enjoying X-Mas and New Year. (Waiting for 42 Beta).
  16. JUST HAD A WILD IDEA! Idea for switching from 1941 to 42. At the moment you get all these new units, your tanks are changed etc. What about the following. A new year has dawned and there is new opportunities for the young officers of the Reich. Many other German forces you have encountered have taken note of your exploits, (For good or bad). If you have 100 + favour points you may transfer to another unit who needs a determined commander. If you transfer the following happens. (However you don't lose any favour in doing so, just got to have it to prove your a good CO). -Your old force is left behind. A new CO takes over and after a wild party (for the russian front line) you leave them to fight the war. (Attached units are lost). -Your new force is whatever force you wish but must be of company size. All units are of regular exp. Except for you and your staff. Carry your exp. over. -It takes a month for your new force to "gel" together and fight like a unit. So after a month of training you enter the front line on the first of Feb. Not the first of Jan. (One less month of winter! For you!). If you decide to stick it out with your present force you continue as normal where you left off. With attached units. This system is far simpliar, in dealing with transfers and could be used at the end of 42, when you have to make a choice. Leave Stalingrad or fight a losing battle and try to break out! WHAT YA THINK? This leave the player with alot of freedom and is easier to follow.
  17. I had 3 Panzer III H's for my first 6 mths. Surely there no learning curve for learning how to drive a Panzer III again. What could be different? Oh the drink holders are on the left hand side now not the right. Oh and we've now got air conditioning, just what we need in January 1942. Always asking questions. Biltong I'll wait for you to send a beta of 1942 to me before I start.
  18. This really destroys the purpose of BCR doesn't it? Remember the saying, take a company all the way through to Berlin? If all your hard work in 41, means nothing, going all the way back to a reg company, and how realistic is it for an inf. Company Commander to be immedeatly transferred to the Luftwaffe? I think I'll stick with my loyal company for the time being. No probs.
  19. The reason I have a low favour is that I used quite alot to get my boys out of an axis assault during the winter months. I had one very bad experience battle there. Double the points of defenders at night with a blizzard. So I didn't mind using favour to get my lads out of a battle. Secondly my troops favour is low I know for three reasons. - Had some bad rolls on the replacement chart. -I tried to keep my troops alive, so when possible I put the Italians and Hungarians up front -I liked the 1.3 exp chart where you got one exp point for each casulty caused, but since the campaign is set to go through till May 45, then by then I should be vet. I'm only just under vet on most squads, and hey two of my Panzer III's are vet! Question : If I want to change my Tanks for 42 to one which has a different amount of crew, how does exp change for that unit? Roll on the replacement chart? Say I got a 5 man crew, and am planning on getting some vehicles with 6 men, do roll on the replacement chart for that extra crew man?
  20. The race is over. The loyal men of the Reich under Hpt. Rausch fought there last action on the 2nd week of December Day 3, 1941. With a month seperating them till there next battle which will be in Jan 1942. Stats : (Note, the same company was taken through a number of versions of Biltongs, so a few inequalities have probably arisen). Favour - 87 Force - Standard Rifle 41 Company, with 3 Panzer IIIH's in support. (Unit "Number" is exp rating). CO Company HQ 17 Platoon HQ (1) 15 Squad 8 Squad 20 Squad 15 Squad 19 50mm Mortar 8 Platoon HQ (2) 17 Squad 20 Squad 19 Squad 20 Squad 20 50mm Mortar 16 Platoon HQ (3) 18 Squad 20 Squad 16 Squad 18 Squad 22 50mm Mortar 10 T1 Panzer IIIH 49 T2 Panzer IIIH 21 T3 Panzer IIIH 54 Scrounged / Attached Units (I got rid of my T-34). (T1)MG34 LMG 11 So there you have it, the first men to end the year, celebrate x-mas in the freezing russian winter wearing womens clothing. BCR 41 South is a blast for everyone who is sick and tired of reg QB or unbalanced scenarios. Cheers Biltong. Notes - Winter Scenarios seemed one sided. The handicaps were a real killer especially when your on the offence. Maybe the handicaps should be toned down a touch if your attacking cause the comp AI makes an alright defender in most cases. Handicaps or no handicaps, the computer still sucks as a partisan attacking force. PS - If you really want me to start testing 42, you know my email but if you don't, don't worry cause I'm back at Uni on Monday and I doubt I'll finish 42 first
  21. The new core sheet. Where Scrounged units are it's got section HQ and MG Team's 1 and 2. Where in the rules does it say scrounged units have to be MG's? I thought they could be anything which fit the unit profile of the core sheet and was to the value of the scrounged unit pts you had???? Don't say I can't have my lovely captured T-34 41 Model My men fought hard for that and it took a bit of saving of pts to.
  22. .... have it on lay buy and even though it's number one function is to be a uni computer (Very powerful type writer), just wondering how CMBO and CMBB would run on it. Experiences etc. I've made sure and it can boot up in OS9 Specs : 800 MHz PowerPC G3 512K L2 cache @ 800MHz 128MB SDRAM memory 30GB Ultra ATA drive ATI Radeon 7500 32MB dedicated video memory Combo Drive Built-in 56K v.92 modem AirPort ready Up to 5 hr. battery life Product Code : M8861LL/A Cheers in advance.
  23. Just a heads up, after playing around 5 battles in a blizzard I rolled a game to be played in the fog, ie no snow on the ground in a QB. Seems a bit weird doesn't it. Any plans to get around this. Like maybe once you've had snow once in the year the minimum you can have is snow for the resot of your battles that year. Shame QB don't have an option for Ground Conditions. Oh yeah up to 2nd week of december. [ February 07, 2003, 09:30 PM: Message edited by: History Buff ]
