1. i played a qb, and I had this MarkIV surrounded with 3 squads of vet engineers, and a paratroop squad, the guys throw a lot of things at it, but the PzIV just backs out and the explosives explode harmlessly. almost the same thing happened in another Qb with a hetzer and a paratroop squad. question is, how do you damage tanks with grunts?(w/o out zooks I mean) and also, just curious, does all german tanks have bullet-proof glass on vision slits?I'm sure some russian ones don't;the germans had designed disc grenades to be inserted into the vision slits of tanks. and another off-topic curiosity of mine, are those russian RPG's used by afghan's copies f Panzerfaust 150's?they look awfully alike.
2. Dunno much bout the "organic",but thats the explanation I've read of for why there is not much heavy artillery for the soviets during ww2. I've read that them ruskies only produced a handful of big arillery guns for ground troops becuase the red army got 'em sturmoviks. And I think the "flying tanks" was pretty much coordinated with ground troops to become replacements for heavy artillery. And I still have got to learn(I'm 14yrs old)but I think Germany could have won the war if Hitler didn't bomb London, instead opting to continue decimating the RAF in the Battle of Britain, giving the luftwaffe air supperiority and paving the way for England's invasion. That way, there's only 1 front, the eastern one, then there's not gonna be much need for an alliance with japan (which means America might not go into war with germany), as the Reich controls a lot of countries and only one front where all these resources would be used on.And there will be little disruption on German industry, as there will be no airfields from which allied heavy bombers could come from to bomb germany.and getting supplies to Russia would be a bit hard, as Germany would be able to harass, or utterly stop any convoy going to russia from the atlantic. So to me, if the Germans had won the battle of Britain, there is going to be a stronger germany, and weaker, if not non-existent allies. whew! =)
3. (1)I was just wondering, if the omission of air liason officers(FO's for the Jabo's) were supposed to balance the game or was an oversight.I've read that those guys could put those aerial bombs where they're needed, like a 50 meters north of the bridge or that building west of the church.and they could make the pilots drop the bombs even if friendly units are within about 100 meters of the target and still not hit the friendly units. (2)I know this has been somewhat asked before, but how will airpower change in CMBB? Russian's had "organic" ground-support aircraft as far as I know.Meaning- unlike in cmbo, where the aircraft just go around looking for targets of opportunity, the soviet aircraft act like artillery, bombing and strafing when they're needed, when they're needeed. (3)I've read somewhere that aircraft has 3 classifications. But what I want to know is whether the german's and russian's aircraft's performances would be different from each other,I think the Sturmovik's more lethal than the Stuka-G. and (4)would the aircraft be seen?what I know is that those sturmovik's strike from tree-top level, literally,so that they would be harder to shootdown(as against the western front approach of go high, dive, try to kill the target)
4. Thing is, this is a game, and somewhat hurriedly done at that.(I read somewhere that Big time was on a deadline) Theres a lot of things missing in it that could be done in real life.like having a sharpshooter aim at the driver instead of the commander;have allied infantry pick up the panzerfuasts of dead or captured germans(theres an account in citizen soldiers of a tiger being knocked out by african-americans w/ a panzerfuast);having elite infantry dressed in enemy uniform;a realy hyped up Flamethrower guy who makes a 10m dash from a woodline to the rear of a bunker;have infantry shove destructive things into AFV exhaust pipes(i.e.gas+grenades;molotov cocktails.wp-grenades...);having crews(afv, bunker) shocked and defeaned by a 14" round;field gun crews remanning their abandoned weapons after being confrontd by a commander;or even mortars firing indirectly or having the martar's seargants detached to spot for the mortar; the list goes on and on and on, like I said it's a game, were not talking about real innovative humans here, just plane by the book AI. but I do hope that infanty can at least disable tanks with close assualts on cmbb. and also thought Saving Private ryan was accurate, and theres a guy firing into the driver's vision port there. oh yeah, I'd just wish I could order my infantry to put some mud on 'em tank periscopes,I dont think they have wipers for those.=)
5. CMBO AI has something against FO's. (1) it doesnt give em much credit for kills.I once killed (I think) a company's worth of infantry with 240mm's, the FO only got credited for 8 casualties. Then on a test range, my 14" FO's brought down the wrath of the gods and only got credit for a few casualties, even tough the area's littered with dead infantry and AFV's + several bunkers (2) havent you noticed FO's get a lot of attention from the AI once found? ok,ok I know, corny
6. can I have one too? I made one similar to that, only with tanks and structures on an island.I tried 105's, 155's, the VT's and 14" guns. Too bad I cant buy 14" on normal QB's, too costly, for too little(ammo)
7. I dunno, but maybe this would work: use the "Target"command(not the wide one) against the guns.
8. oh yeah, use the as reserves, just use em when you have a good idea of how the opponent plans to fight.
quote:
Mr. Wxspoon's fine tactical use of the MG jeep points out why it's usually a good idea to keep an HMG or supporting infantry with the towed gun. Granted, that's not always possible, but as a rule of thumb ...

thats not a good idea, MG's and field guns atrract a rainstorm of shells(and bullets),and it would make youre opponent's life easier if he could hit two birds with on stone.supprt the guns/MG's from some distance, just make sure the appraoches to the gun are still covered.
9. a combination of rifle 44's and engineers(for hard targets, like bunkers and tanks;+ the flamethrowers are good distractions for the enemy and also of some use against disabled enemy armour and supressed MG's) for the americans +zooks.smg squads + a rifle for the germans (they have panzerfausts to take care of the tanks)+ LMG's. I also buy mortars and sharpshooters and sometimes FO's just to "soften" up the enemy infantry, cover up my appraoch, and at least button up their armour(if not damage 'em or even knock em out). I dont know how to use american mmg's for attacks so I only buy them for defense(still a newbie)
10. just a moment of luck...a single 105 arty barrage killed 2 panthers in one turn=) and on another turn I smoked the area where another 2 panthers were rumbling down and ran a zook to their hiney's.both panthers were buttoned so only one panther saw my zook...that is after he blew the other one up.Well, my zook and the panther that saw him raced at who could fire first. To my relief the zook killed the PzV just as it pointed its turret at the general direction of the zook. And on another scenario the enemy had a KT rumbling down the road with onlt stuarts and a 40mm Bofors to stop it.so what I did was dash the stuart across the road and into a hedge just to make the KT buttoned up. Then I aimed the bofors at the road, paused it for 30 seconds, and just as the buttoned KT rumbled down it the bofor's opend fire with HE's, and disabled he KT,which was abandoned later as the stuart kept harrassing it. I also killed the KT with the stuart when I replayed the scenario after the stuart ran straight into the king tiger(literally),fired at the sonuvabitch at point blank range, hit a weak spot, and knocked the thing out.talk about luck!
11. I use them like I use my hellcats, scoot to the enemy's rear, shoot, and keep them well away from infantry.Got me a lot of field guns that way.Plus a couple of half-tracks, armoured cars and a PzIIL Luchs, although I dont know if it was the jeep or an engineer squad that took it out.
12. this ones not really wacky, but I make some "test" scenarios just to pass time. hordes of flamethrowers against hordes of german armor, flamethrowers against infantry on diffrent types of tiles in separate islands. .50 cals against a whole bunch of german armor. engeneers against tanks.105's (7 batteries?) firing point-blak into dug-in infantry in a city. T26's versus KT's + 240mm's and 300mm's + artillery. 14" naval guns against infantry, armor, and diffrent structures on a wide, thin island.i ad fun watching all the huge explosions.(I had 16 FO's w/ 16 salvoes each) like I said, not realy wacky, but can occupy time. check this page: http://mapage.cybercable.fr/deanco/ look for the hysterical scenarios. theres a race between trucks, jeeps and kubelwagens, plus some extras.thers also a maze with a kingtiger trying to exit the map and stuarts, flamethrowers and 40mm Bofors to stop it.
13. Yup. I once took out 3 ATG's with a couple of Jeep .50's .Kept the guns busy with my infantry and then let my jeeps kick up some dust, circled the guns 1 round with a jeep for each gun and then move both towards the last one. They did not reach it though, A 105 Sherman appeared and blew it up.
