1.
quote:
Originally posted by Juju: Say, Commander, you still got a save game for that turn? I'd like to take a look/listen to it. Could you send it to me? Adress is in the profile

Unfortunately, the only save position I have is just before I plotted the moves where the incident happened. At the time that it happened, the casualties happened together with barely a second between them. The only thing going on was a AV right on top of the infantry unit and there were a few rounds of friendly smoke still dropping. I thought sharpshooter but there is no way a sharpshooter could reload, aim and shoot twice like that.
 2. When I play Axis, I like to use a platoon of King Tiger's for recon. It's just that I don't play as Axis...
 3. That's why I was so perplexed. There was no audible gunfire at the time of the casualties. Maybe the infantry stepped on something really nasty...
 4. Are you running DirectX 8.0? I had the same card at one point and when I upgraded to DX 8 I could not play Unreal Tournament any longer. If you are, the only thing you can do is to reinstall the Windows OS as DX is considered part of the OS and you cannot uninstall it or reinstall an earlier version over it.
 5. I finally have a picture of the HQ unit that KO'd a KT. Check it out at: http://photos.lycos.com/s.asp?r=n8h2eo7kqlm45887lh04lh0p7s_266786
 6. Your probably right. I know there was an enemy sharpshooter on the loose but I never did find him (even after the game was over).
 7. I was playing a QB yesterday and moving infantry forward under smoke. One of my AV's ran over the infantry and the infantry sustained two casualties (My leg!! My leg!! each time). The group moving under smoke was not under fire at the time. Whats up with that? I didn't think this was possible. Has it happened to anyone else?
 8. Intense does not adequately describe the experience. You will be lucky to make it across the bridge! Definately a slugfest!
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by ciks: DId you noticed the color of the face of russelmz's buddy in 300mm rocket demonstration picture? Is that called a "Rocket sickness"?

LOL - You are right. Looks like one of those alien grey creatures standing TO CLOSE to that rocket barrage!
 10. Good advice! The map is dominated by the town. A concentrated thrust is the way to go but only against a weak point and in looking the map over there seems to be very few of those. All but one flag are in town. I don't have to worry about attriting his forces as I have no means of doing so. I don't think my artillery is going to be a factor in this game. The buildings are huge - you could probably place a whole platoon on every floor of every building! As noted in my preliminary analysis (and in agreement with you) green forces means a lot of concentrated firepower in the hands of someone who knows how to place infantry correctly. The biggest weakness green forces face is the tendency to break or become routed. Finding a way to suppress Axis infantry under cover of stone buildings is going to be hard.
 11. He could. He has lots of experience. Remember, he has green troops playing "Defense". My job is to remove those defenders and occupy his town. I would just like to hear from people who have played him. I have collected over 40 pages of information from him on various topics. Is Jason a teacher? Is he ex military? Anyway, he has sent me the setup file so I finally got to see the map (you know how that is). Its a pretty small map with a town in the middle of it. Handful of flags, very few trees and flat. Its dawn, the birds are just a chirping away. I have started my analysis and am documenting everthing for the official AAR. He has 1000 points to spend on green forces. Does anyone know his propensity for purchasing obstacles? (mines and barbed wire)
 12. I created the two training scenarios that I call Bazooka Hunt and Bazooka Hunt II. I sent them to you via E-mail. I made them to give myself practice (plus the challenge) of using bazooka's to take out enemy tanks. I had not planned on making them public but if you like to check them out send me an E-mail at mej023@earthlink.net and I will forward them to you.
 13. JasonC - I knew you would read this. Happy Birthday! (If its your birthday.) A quick question..."What does BALANCE mean to you?" (that is, balance in relation to playing CM) [ 10-19-2001: Message edited by: Commander ]
 14. Have you ever played a PBEM with JasonC? Tell me about the battle if you would. Did Jason play as Allies or Axis? What type of battle was fought? How many points? What did Jason do during the fight that just stumped or amazed you? What did he do that surprised you? How did you beat him (if you did)? What is his biggest weakness in CM battles? I am just gathering information in preparation for my upcoming PBEM against JasonC. Thanks for your help.
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by ciks: Will you give us an AAR?

Sure thing. I always send a network camera crew to the front. Since I like to take risks, the crew is usually shell shocked but at least you get to see what happened. Funny thing...when the crew found out that JasonC was the enemy commander they started mumbling something about this being a suicide mission. Anyone know what they were talking about?
 16. When I play it my old dog starts freakin and trying to hide. The Artillery Test Range is great when your playing a E-mail game and you lose a tank and want to pay the Germans back.
 17. JasonC - I will play you a PBEM. You take the green guys and I will take a mixture of regulars and veterans. What do you think?
 18. I tried that tactic once in a game against the AI and it worked pretty good. I suffered a few casualties but kicked some stunned German butt.
 19. You want to see all of them shooting at you? Turn off FOW and watch the lead fly. Really glad I added the eight 14" guns. They make really BIG holes and the kill radius is unbelievable!
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Cameroon: The reason I ask is because I had decided to play a QB tonight (600 pt, german armor vs comb. arms) as the Allies. I ended up with 3 vet. 'zooks and an M8 as my AT assets. And then guess what I see rolling my way, a KT! Nothing could scratch the thing (even from 33 meters). Didn't help the AI too much, though, as I still managed a major victory while the KT prowled around my rear looking for shots (nasty terrain). So, outside of divine intervention, has anyone been able to KO a KT with a bazooka team?

I have taken out multiple KT and JagdTigers with elite bazooka teams in my training scenarios called Bazooka Hunt and Bazooka Hunt II. I have pictures that show a elite HQ unit taking out a KT from the front at 25 meters with 2 hand grenades. You definately have to get a close rear shot to take out those bad mammas.
 21.
quote:
Originally posted by aka_tom_w: Don't laugh I played the an armour battle once against the AI (2000 pts) I took the Allies and picked my own forces and let the comptuer pick the German forces. Guess What!? 3 - THREE!!! freaking JagTigers showed up. (you know the ones with impenetrable hulls 250mm thick with 128 mm canons with 2 part round and a charge cartridges that slice through ANYTHING they hit!) (I killed two of them and one was immbolized and I got a minor victory out of it, after loosing all my armour to those 3 monsters!) believe it the AI picks king tigers and jagtigers sometimes! -tom w

Tom, What did you get with your 2K points that allowed you to kill those bad babies?(and how did you do it?) Like I said in my post "Keep em covered" you have to watch those JagdTiger tank crews...
 22. Yeah it was fun...thats why I created Bazooka hunt II. You go up against 3 veteran King Tigers, 1 crack King Tiger, 4 veteran JagdTigers and two Platoons of crack security infantry with one of the platoons having a elite HQ unit. You have 8 elite bazookas, 2 elite HQ units and one platoon of elite 45s. The objective is to kill all the tanks (and their crews because you have to kill the crack King Tiger commander and you don't know which one he is) and kill the elite HQ unit of one of the security platoons. This scenario is a lot harder!! I have this one set at night with light fog. You can hear them but you can't always see them! Good thing theres no blood in this game!
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by CMplayer: You actually _play_ opps who buy KTs?

I will but people usually don't want to. In this instance I created a training scenario for myself called Bazooka Hunt. Its night, its raining (LOS sucks). I have four elite HQ units (spotting, morale, etc..) and four elite bazooka's go up against four King Tigers (veterans) in a small village setting. In the instance I mentioned, while scouting, one HQ shooting at 50 meters buttoned the KT and the other HQ at 25 meters threw 2 handgrenades killing the tank and one crew member. The other crew members bailed and while running for cover were gunned down by the HQ unit that killed the tank. I have pictures of the deed to show but do not know how to post them. I was just stunned! I don't mind playing the AI and letting it have super tanks - its a different story when your playing a human. [ 10-15-2001: Message edited by: Commander ]
 24. I always imagine that my Sherman tank commanders are screaming, "Tiger!! Backup! Backup!" and the driver is freakin cause he dropped the keys (and the gunner is embarrassed cause he just wet his pants)... I love it though when one of my inferior allied tanks brews up a German monster! I about fell out of my chair the night one of my HQ units took out a King Tiger at 25 meters from the front with two hand grenades. That was cool.
