1. but in addition the fuel does turn to jelly, but that is a different and unrelated problem. If the air was to be able to become hot enough, than the jelly would instantly turn to liquid and by the second turnover it would ignite
2.
quote:
Originally posted by Gyrene: The problem with Diesels in cold weather has nothing to do with the temperature of the air being taken in (The colder the better, as far as internal combustion engines are concerned), but it has everything to do with the fact that Diesel fuel has the nasty tendency to turn to jelly in very cold weather. Gyrene

not true Gyrene, it has everything to do with the temperature of air being taken in, because Deisel engines have no spark plug to ignite the fuel, a combination of what is called a glow plug, and the rapid compression of air is intended to heat the air to over 700 degrees F. if the origional air is very cold, <0 F. than those two actions will not be enought to heat the air and therefore start the engine
3. what about an American war, like the Revolutionary or Civil wars?
4. honestly they're great maps, i've only played a couple , but they are reallly beautiful, if thats a decent word to describe a battlefield
5. no, but i have had a sherman run into a tank of mine, i forgot which type, it just went down the road, and hit mine, the sherman then tried to go around me, but a bazooka nearby plugged a gift up its as*
6. are they going to stop making CM:BO after CM:BB comes out?

9. 45 is nothin for a game this fun. since i bought CM:BO i've also bought two other games, but one hasent even been opened yet, and the other just sits there, with only the first level finished, this is well worth 45 dollars
10. once i had a .50 cal. at the end of a road, where it turned into woodland, there was two rifle squads coming up the center of the road and i only killed two guys in probably two minuse worth of firing. i hate the machine guns, they're worthless.

12. anything that would use a person as bait or using them to see where shots come from, or using very light very fast vehicles and going up and down the map, just to find enemy positions, they would never use armor or trucks as scouts, expecially as blind scouts
13. is there going to be a CM:BB demo before the late '01 release?
14.
quote:
Originally posted by Lane: I may have to get signed up for HBO. on my cable this fall. For this Series. When does it start? And is there a web site about it. Thank's Lane

i think there will be info about it on hbo.com
15. how do you put those little quotes from other peoples posts at the begining of posts
16. Deisel engines use something called a glow plug, instead of a spark plug, which is used in petrol engines. THe difference is that the glow plug minimally heats the air coming into the engine, the majority of heat to ignite the fuel is created when the air is compressed very fast and very hard. This compression is intended to heat the air to over 700 degrees f. Often times in cold areas, most often in WWII on the eastern front, the air would be too cold and the compression of the air would not cause sufficient heating, therefore the deisel would not ignite, and the engine would not start. In situations like this, it was necessary to use a specially designed starter to heat the air, and because these were few and far between, it would sometimes take hours just to start a small company of armor or transport. The advantage of deisel over petrol is taht first, they get much better mileage, and therefore can go farther on each gallon. Also a deisel engine has far fewer moving parts, and therefore requires less maintenance.
17. chad harrison, i was actually just reading PCG and my own question was answered, there is a short (1 page) article on CM2, its in the sept 02 mag. just thought you might like the info, however little the amount
18. thanks argie, i had an idea that was what it was but i was wondering why thry just wouldn't call it smoke
19. in response to gunnergozs' question _____________________________________________ "A bigger question is why the pre-invasion aerial bombardment was planned so far back from the headlands over the beaches. As it was, the preponderance of the bombers struck miles inland, tearing up orchards and killing livestock but precious few Germanans." -gunnergoz -------------------------------------------- The reason the bombardments happened inland was so that the airborne paratroop divisions would be able to sucessfully land.
