If you're also looking for scenario design http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/ is a good place for reference material. You can view a lot of the material on-line but to get the maps you'll have to order the books.

Describing a tactic in a game as "gamey"? Isn't that a misnomer? There is one thing, well actually a couple things that one can use against the AI that could be considered "unethical tactics". 1) To throw a squad out in front of armor 'cause armor almost always shoots at opposing infantry before opposing amor. 2) Sticking some lost chap out in the middle of a field so that the AI arty will waste all of it's ordnance trying to kill just one soldier.

Anybody scanned in a map and created a grid overlay on their PC to plot structures and other topographical info? Any freeware or shareware out there that does that? I couldn't find any. Thanks

Here's my dumb luck..........just yesterday I had an 81mm spotting round drop dead center on a panther, took him right out. Figure the odds of the spotting round hitting the panther then the odds of an 81mm hitting the right spot on the panther to take it out.

Why would you WANT to give your opponent a field advantage? I just played a scenario in which the allies were advancing towards a town on the other side of a river. At the start I had a couple flame throwers on the other side of the bridge and had them toast every building on the rivers edge before the allies showed up. This forced the infantry to occupy the river banks and were subsequently made into fish food by 81 and 120mm mortars.

A couple of the posted suggestions I can vouch for...........don't have a wife or girlfriend and...........buy her a computer. The first one is obvious but the second is quite effective. Then there's the more acertive approach, just point to the general direction of the entrance of your abode and say, "There's the door!" There's a standing rule in my house, "Until you make more money than me, no whining!"
