1. I don't know but I think that might be pretty hard. Say if the driver was hit and they wanted to move the vehicle, I am sure one of the other crew members know enough to get the tank from point a to point b. So how do you express the "backup driver" inexperience? Plus, I could be wrong but I thought most casualities in tanks, that were not KOed, were the TCs.
2. What I saw, because of unbalance scenarios, the scorings a little different. For example, If you are the Amis on scenario 1 you are really competing against everyone else that is playing Amis on scenario 1. If you beat me 65-47 in scenario 1 but that 65 points, when compared to the rest of the players that were Americans, was the lowest around you would receive 0 points while I would receive the max. Hope that makes sense
3. What everyone defines as gamey is different. What I saw on the other thread it is up to you to work that out with your opponet. Treeburst one question, roughly how long/big are these scenarios? I am asking this because if they are 60 turn monsters you need to get a early start on them because of the deadline.
4. I saw the scoring system and I like the fact I can get crushed 80-20 and still get more point then the man who somehow defeated my digital troops. I was just wondering how we start this off.
5.
quote:
the general consensus from those was that guns in CM move much too slow.

No, that is just mg teams move too slow
6. So we will get 5 games at once? Which player get the first turn and how do you know which player you are playing for which scenario? Are we all going to be broken into smaller size groups, then a random draw as to who plays what scenarios? Sorry for all the questions, first tournment.
7. 90 days seems like plenty of time for me since most battles played pbem a month or so. Do we get any points for writing a AAR at the conclusion like some other tourneys you run?
8. Yea the AI may have problems with it but for pbem and tcp battles it would add a lot of spice. I have won a lot of battles because I shelled a victory location without knowing a enemy was there but just assuming. This would eliminate that and a lot of other tactics that are not applied IRL. With the ablities to set different objectives for both sides would open up scenarios a great deal for designers.
9. If you put flags where they have to cross each other to get there that is all you need. I am sure player will "interact". Plus you could put them real close together.
10. I don't know if it has been discussed before but side specific victory flags would be nice in CMBB. These flags would only be visible to the side they count for. This way the russians could have a set of objectives and the german player a whole different set. You would not know where the opponet was going to hit you in force and make players set up better defensives that support one another. Also, on attack you wouldn't know what the opposing player held vaulable and where his MLR would be set up. It would also end end-game rushing because you couldn't see your oppositions flags. Just an idea.
11. Can capture pow escape? That is if you capture so prisoners and lose the battle are they still counted as pow on the aar. This usually doesn't happen but I am playing a pbem where a few of my ambushes has created about a plt. worth of pows. I am now losing this battle, what is the best thing to do to still have the count as pows?
12. A pawn, when played right, can checkmate a king young grasshopper. You playing the demo or is the full version of stronghold out.
13. I bet I could find $25 in change around the house. total pledge. $425 remaining $725
14. Before CM I was a lowly console gamer(gasp). The best I had back in those dark ages was panzergeneral for the playstation. I was stuck playing madden 199whatever and trying to get my friends hooked into a game of axis and allies.(I actually miss madden, no pc equal(double gasp)) Then I read about CM in PC gamer. I had been secretly torturing myself by buying PC gamer and finding all the games I would like to play. I downloaded the demo on my friend's computer and starting playing. Not only did the demo convince me to shell out $45 dollors for the game but also to engage in a lengty disscusion with the wife on the benefits of a $1300 home computer. Since then, (i won the debate) I have enjoyed CM to the fullest and is one of the few games I own. I wonder when CMBB comes out if I can convince the wife that we need a sweet surround sound system to enjoy the rumblings of charging t-34s across the russian steppe.
15. One quick fix could be a manual save after every other turn. This way you are not hoping the auto save did it's job. I know it sucks but it only takes a sec. and at least lets you continue playing from a point near your crash
16. Hey Wild Bill, when are these scenarios going to be open to the public?
17. What does it mean when you read that a scenario should be played blind or double blind? How do you do it?
18. thanks, in the near future I will figure out my ip and not log off and should be able to host games.
19. Hey after you get thrashed, you don't want it to happen again. So if you talk after the battle you can at least learn from your mistakes. So next time it happens it will not be from the same mistakes. Then, after a while, you will be the one handing out the trashing. This isn't a game like day of defeat or operation flashpoint where it is instant gratification. This game is complex and there is a learning curve. If this individual isn't prepared to deal with it, then sod off. The only thing that sucks is that (at least for me) he ate up that rare tcp/ip time.
20. Hey, I have dsl and a dynamic ip. Now how "dynamic Ip" is this. Does it change ever hour, ever time i log on or what. If I log on and stay on, could I figure my ip and host game as long as I didn't log off?
21. I agree with you Kestral. You probably don't remember but about 7-8 months ago I played you. I was a newbie, had game about 2 weeks. You trash me throughout the game, but(because of a couple of rambo .50 cal. and one squad) I only suffered only a minor loss. But my point is, I learn more by talking to you, tactics, counters, blah, after getting my ass handed to me than I did with 20 ai battles. The best part of playing someone is talking tactics after the game. See what worked and what didn't. The fact that he quit sucks. How many battles have I played where I had the upper hand late and then get the cards turn on something stupid I did. That why you play it out to the bitter end, especially when playing me
22. The reason why you don't see any documented kills 3000m+ in WWII is because it is crazy to engage and those distance. If a 88 gun crew engages at those distances all it is doing, besides getting the very rare kill, is wish upon themselves a mass amount of motor and artillery fire. What is the point of killing one T-34 (the most common theater where you could find these ranges) when you are going to get spike by art. you can't counter. So with no accurate stats about kills, accuracy, hit rates, blah, blah, blah, I am sure that bts just took the ranges and made them highly unlikely for a kill shot. But this post is IMO._
