  1. I recently experienced what i would also call strange AI behavior, but not as strange as yours. I was playing the scenario "First Clash at Cambes" in which there are 3 victory flags. I played as Axis and given the intial distribution of troops i decided to hold 2 and not contest the 3rd. its a rather long scenario (60 turns) and early on i got lucky and took out 8 allied tanks, only loseing 1. I then continued to set up my defenses is the best way i could think of. the AI did fire some smoke at my armor in later turns and an air strike took out another tank. and a spotter tried to come out of the woods but was quickly cut to peices. at the end of 60 turns that was the extent of the action. viewing the map i found that the brits had 3 companies of supported infantry all clustered in the woods around the 1 VL i chose not to contest. needless to say i was dissappointed. seems to me that, in this case, the ai decided my defense of the other 2 VL's was too good to waste any more lives trying to take them from me. YEAH, RIGHT!
  2. before they lock this one up let me just say; Mud, i was with you up until you got WAY off topic and started into a lengthy explanation of random number generation. i would suggest you quit being so defensive and reread what Gyrene had to say. one of the strengths of CMBO is that, as in war, "**** HAPPENS". might i also suggest you keep a little thicker skin in these boards. if you want to know why then go play in the cesspool. try to look at this game as a work in progress. its not at all perfect but with the continueing efforts of BTS it should get better.
  3. I agree that edge hugging benefits the defender more than the attacker. well timed arty or a well placed gun can go a long way to holding the whole flank.
  4. I'm useing the same video card you are and while i didnt have that problem i did have others. try useing the 3dfx tools ( you can find it in the start menu ) and set your card to single chip mode. there is an updated driver available but i cannot remember where.
  5. Those loveable Jeep MG's, more often than not they do get taken out by the smallest amount of enemy fire but on occasion ive seen them perform some amazing feats. the most memorable is when i kept one hidden on the low slope of a ridge were i suspected his light armor would advance. I didn't expect much more than to draw fire and allow my zooks to get off a few extra shots. My opponent moved a PSW 234/2 Puma and an Sd Kfz 7/2 flak Vehicle to the top of the ridge and then turned 90 degrees to face my infantry exposeing their flanks to my as yet unseen Jeep MG. Taking full advantage of the speed of the Jeep I maneuverd up the hill and targetted the softer rear armor of the Puma. I watched the ensueing movie with intense scrutiny and i was overjoyed when my courageous little jeep took out the Puma. i was extatic when the same jeep also took out the flakwagon in the same 1 minute turn. needless to say this totally turned the tide of the battle and resulted in a total victory. unfortuneatly this type of performance is the exception rather than the rule but since that time i almost never go into action without one of those loveable little Jeep MG's.
  6. yeah tread, i got her with a .50 cal and lets not forget that Elite polish infantry squad that took one out at 200+M.
  7. very good advice redwolf. i only disagree with the rejecting the map as i prefer not to reject any map. even if my terrain the worst imagineable i'll try it just to see what i can make of a worst case scenario. a few times i've even managed to impress myself and learn a few tricks along the way.
  8. I agree with Gyrene. if PB's were so indestructable then why did they bother to bombard or "soften" them during the assualt on Normandy? I realize the effect then was less than desired but wasnt that due to inacuracy contributablt to bad weather ( ie. rough seas ) I can understand vs most arty but a 14" gun? just my 2 cents
  9. I also was turned on to CM by the article in PCGamer. I also feel that making into the top 50 of all time is quite an accompishment as i am sure there were a multitude of criteria. As great a game we may think CM to be, there is still the fact that it doesnt have the mass appeal of many games out there. (that may be one reason its so great, IMHO) hey Fieldmarshall, if you feel that strongly about it why dont you publish your own top 50 of all time, i'd be intersted to read it.
  10. I see a valid point about FO's being the same rank as platoon leaders. (One butter-bar is just as much an idiot as any other) We all know C&C bonuses are not cumulative (i can dream) and yet FO's do get bonuses from other officers.
  11. I'm not knowledgable enough to shoot a ton of holes on your complaints, like everyone else was nice enough to do. However I do know that in CM, the panzerfaust is FAR more effective than the rifle grenade. Also, in everything ive seen/heard/read about allied victory in WW2, The germans had the superior technology and the americans had superior numbers. just my 2 cents
  12. I want "HOLLYWOOD" ammo. Not to belittle your suggestion MoatNGator
  13. I'll be anxiously waiting for it to hit the video shelves. I hope i dont have to wait too long. Anyone want to tape it for me?
