  1. Oh, yes the CC series is great. Especially when tanks are turning around helplessly in circles. And I like the infantry running THROUGH concrete walls. Oh, and the campain is terrific. If you aren't a total idiot you will win every battle only to play the same map over and over again. To be honest - I have CC3 + 4 + 5 and I enjoyed them. They are cheap to buy and are fun, on a beer'n'prezel level. Afterall, if go for realism and a mature simulation CM is your choice. If you wanna game, for lunch break or so CC is a good choice, too. Place your (huge) 88 AT in a building and see the King Tiger round bouncing of again & again (happend in CC3) from a T34 (early model). This spoils the game for me... ...but I like the efficient snipers (Gewehr 43, yummy!), the teriffic mods (France 40!) ... anyhow - IT IS NOT AN ALTERNATIVE. I changed from it when CMBO came out. Aber - jedem das seine. [ December 18, 2002, 09:31 AM: Message edited by: Da Beginna ]
  2. By the way, what is the bogging ratio for a cross-border mail transport (from US to Canada) in heavy forrest? Maybe that explains the high cost, especially when the crew is conscripted. Just my 2 (Euro) Cents. [ December 13, 2002, 04:12 PM: Message edited by: Da Beginna ]
  3. Hi there! I read from some historic document ("Der Panzerknacker" - could some tell me the URL?) that you shouldn't "TOSS" the landmine under the tank. The simple reason for this is, that everyone who tosses a "normal" landmine will got blow up - together with the tank. The tactic was more to put it somewhere where the tank will go soon or to lay the mine on top the tracks, while the tank is stopped. As soon as the tank started the mine will (hopefully) "tansported" where it hurts - to the downside of the tracks. There are several website dealing with WW2 weapons, just go for them. Hope that helps a bit. Please enlighten me, if I'm wrong. I'm still only Grog "light"! Thanks. [ December 11, 2002, 05:41 AM: Message edited by: Da Beginna ]
  4. I'm German. There are some few things to be proud of there (I'm not living there now). Well, CDV is not. It's the DARK SIDE. May the force be with you.
  5. Not really a big one: The ammo load of Soviet on-board mortars.
  6. I would like to see "fake" minefields - where the soil is just changed in a way that it looks like anti-tank mines. As used in hasty defences (refer to propaganda brochure - "Der Panzerknacker"). Further, I would like to see whole new system of fortifications, e.g. shelters for infantry, complex bunker systems. And more different types and less abtracted buildings. ... But what ever there will be, I will buy it! [ December 03, 2002, 07:45 AM: Message edited by: Da Beginna ]
  7. C64: 1. Pirates 2. Microprose Soccer 3. Bubble Bobble Amiga: 1. Civilization 2. North & South (fun, fun, fun) 3. Colonization PC: 1. Panzer General 1 2. CM 3. Age of Empires 2 Now... hate me.
  8. Use the covered arcs to cease fire. The trees are an abstraction - refer to the manual. Hope it helps abit - have fun.
  9. Well, using online translators can cause some funny results. I guess what is meant, is that non-wargamers should "avoid" (German: Einen Bogen darum machen") to buy CM:BB.
  10. It'a all about names - and military organisation. Weapons are basically a tool use them right and you will make it. Classify a thing with tracks a tank, a SP Gun or Armored Fighting Vehicle or a Sonder-Kraftfahrzeug ... but try to win. [ November 29, 2002, 08:40 AM: Message edited by: Da Beginna ]
  11. The use of naval gunfire was much more common then fire by a Dora...
  12. Where are they? Are they left out due to too little usage? I think they played quite a role when the Russians pushed into Eastern Prussia... What are your opinions? [ November 22, 2002, 07:09 AM: Message edited by: Da Beginna ]
  13. That is definetly NOT true. Don't believe all the old propaganda. The gas troops were always keeped in the rear. They were ready to strike but were - fortunately - not released...
  14. What is the difference between a sniper and a sharpshooter? [ November 18, 2002, 11:46 AM: Message edited by: Da Beginna ]
  15. "Wir bremsen für niemanden". You could say yours as well, is a bit more coloquial though. What's the other half then?
  16. Rotterdam was bombed AFTER the surrender. Rotterdam wasn't the Capital. Okay, you have a point that Capitals are of crucial importance. What I find interesting is that a lot of people stick to the idea that wars are won by military means only. IMO, Germany lost the war for political reasons. If you conquer a country and tell the people: You are "sub-humans" we will kill most of you, others will work as slaves and few will be "Germanized". You have to leave big Garisons to keep the gained territory under controll (Norway, Greece, France, the Low Countries, Poland,...). Imagine you go to Russia that time and tell the people: "We don't fight you, we want to remove the Communist" - while setting up a "fair" rulership of the occupied land. When this was partly recognized towards the end of the war, it was heavily discussed in the German high-command... (lots more to discuss on this)... Now imagine you come with a shiny army and tell the people: We bring you Coca-Cola, Cigaretts and Democracy. Make your choice.
  17. You are going for school girls? Well, hopefully they are better than the older ones I know. Maybe I got a bit spoiled here in Sweden... Drinking until they are pretty is to expensive here anyway. Greetings to the UK.
  18. Jag är en tysk student i Jönköping. Jag tycker om svenska språk, svenska mat och CMBB - men tysken öl är bättere. Åbro sucks.
  19. Det är jättebra, men jag talar svenska så lite. Lycka till!
  20. Yeah and the British for "good food" or "pretty girls"...
