2. Oh dear....poor old Macey's pets are all going to be treated to reduce air pollution:
quote:
Australian farmers are signing up their sheep and cattle in droves to take part in a vaccine program aimed at reducing harmful methane gas emissions from their animals and help take the heat off global warming. Australia's 114 million sheep and 27 million cattle are prolific producers of methane by flatulence and burping. They produce total methane emissions equivalent to 60 million tons of carbon dioxide, or 14 percent of the country's greenhouse gas emissions every year.(ABC News)

This disturbing report raises many questions about some of our resident slimeballs - How will Mace find his way around without the eau-dours of the out-back to guide him? Will our brave computer tinkerer be able to find his way back to the pool..or has he already herd of this and decided to flock-off on his own? How will this affect his relationship with Baaabra? Is da Lamb facing a phlatulenceless phuture? Will Phillies Phanny phinally phinish phancying phoals, and phind the beef? who cares? [ 06-08-2001: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]
 3. Pansy Litter almsot gets it right - thre are defintely 3 types of inhabitants in the cess pool.... Those elders who fondly think that they're swiming in clear water........like the Kay-nig-hits of old they are mostly parasites with little or no purpose in the scheme of things otehr than to try to preserve their own privileges. Then there's the squares - those realtive newcomers who aspire to kay-nig-hit-hood. they think that they will get a clear view of things if only they could get elevated out of the muck......so they attach themselves to some kay-nig-hit or otehr in the hope of getting some sort of lift or ride to the upper levels. Parasites one and all....in fact parasites on the coat tails of parasites! Then there's the SSN's - like all good submarines they know they don't have to surface so they run deep, if not silent... But of course with all the stirring that goes on the....um....water quality is exactly the same at all levels - ther's ain't such a thing as grades of ****! The only difference between us all is that we SSN's know that thisplace smells bad, while all you ponces think it smells sweet! A cesspool by any other name would still stink! Now for all those that find my presence here distasteful I can only suggest that you stop breathing. Then I won't have to put up with your mealy mouthed mewling, and maybe in time your typing will cease too. As an underworked and overpaid civil servant I have a duty to abuse the taxpayers resources by spending as much of my working day swimming in cess as I can........I see no reason to be either civil or anyone's servant here. So you are all invited to get used to it. Marshmellow - who are you, and why do you bother addressing me at all? I would hapily crush you underfoot, but you'er all soft and squishy and would just stick to my boot........ah....of course...the quintisential pooler. Shame about the colour tho' - pink is a panty colour, not a cess pool shade! Barfandchuck - don't just stand there with your mouth hanging open boy....some nasty old sea captain might put something in it...do you like chicken boy....when are you going to send me something??
 4. I don't thik they'll be firing direct as in "over open sights" - these things just didn't have sights!! "Direct area fire" might be a better term (borrowed from a set of miniture rules) - ie they will not be firing at a single tank - they'll be firing at an area. That said what's the minimum range of the rockets?? 1 km+? I'd guess that they will not be modelled on-table in CMBB as they're really not in the right scale. I suspect 120mm mortars will be on-map tho' - they shuoldn't be too hard to put in - just "another gun/mortar", and they fall into the scheme of things range/usage wise.
 5. Well I reckoned it was a III-J from the long thin gun with no muzzle brake and the mantlet that looked like it might be the spaced armour!! Any more detail than that is lost on me!
 6. CM seems to like to cut my modem off soon after I load a PBEM file. has anyone else encountered this problem?
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Seanachai: Gits is hereby designated as 'Gods, Is That Stupid' for all those taunting challenged half-wits (or Twits, as we think of them) who keep flailing about in the Peng Challenge Thread, rolling in their own feces and splashing anyone standing nearby.

As a self appointed spokesgit I'd like to point out that if there's feces splashing around then it's your own bloody stupid fault for lurking in a cesspool!
quote:
Now, I don't wish to discourage our latest round of utterly, soddingly useless and preeminently subnormal Gits,

Well that makes a change from the usual uninspiring copy-cat SOD OFF that passes for git-phobia around this place...... Really there's nothing much to inspire a git to do better.....
 8. Adam "The Winter War" refers to the Finnish-Soviet war of 1939-40, not those parts of "The Great Patriotic War" that were fought in winter!! So yes, the Germans will freeze their butts of in 1941-42 in CMBB, but the Russians won't in 1939-40. [ 06-07-2001: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Panzer Leader: Let's see (I'm no expert) but is that a PzIV with the short 75, a (what?) Stug, and maybe on the end a PzIII?

Looks like it - Pz IV A-D, Stug 3A and Pz-III J (50L60)?
 10.
quote:

But nothing much else of note. Have you got another voyage planned soon? Can we help you get on one? Perhaps you could take that sunken chest of yours and get someone to bury it so it won't be found for a hundred years?? we could make a map - "X" marks the spot - and tear it up so that no-one will ever find you. Roll, roll, stumble, stumble, crawl, roll south from the cess pool, then stumble, stumble, stumble, roll, roll west...... 11. It's a 76.2mm howitzer - and if the Sdkfz 7 bug isn't fixed it could be a terror!! Not sure of the correct designation tho'. You're probably thinking of the quad-maxim AA mounts on hte back of trucks that are fairly famous - you'd be able to tell the difference pretty quickly if they were side by side.
 12. A big collective OOOOO.....AAAHHHHH Gotta love the nice, long plain in front of the Stug, and the dinky 76mm howitzer on the back of the truck!!
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by Simon Fox: That's rather ironic since you're a contributor to said abomination and doing your level best to make it more so by the look of it.

And your point is?? Even the age-old (as opopsed to old age) residentsof pengdom are quick to acknowledge the disgusting nature of their habitate - that's part of the attraction
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Bog: Happy B-Day, Kitty and CMBO!

No, no, no.....it's "Happy D-day, Kitty and CMBO!"
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Yank: I But the book I'm looking at now says Germany had 10 million military personnel with 3,300,000 killed and missing. The Russians had 20 million military personnel with 13,600,000 killed and 5 million wounded. Is this book wrong?

It's probably as close a guess as anyone's going to get. Add in a number for Finns, Romanians, Hungarians, Italians, Slovaks, Spanish and the like to the German numbers too. And my vote is for East Front - why would I want 2 games dealing with the west front?????
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by Skipper: That was another reason, but note that IS-3 has the same 122 mm gun, even though this model was produced when 100m gun availability wasn't a problem at all.

Err....no...the IS-3 was produced in the last months of WW2, and designed in 1944-45 - when production constraints were still a very real consideration. You might make the point for the IS-4 and subsequent heavies, but by then the 100 was in service in adequate numbers anyway, and there was no need for heavies to mount it at all.
 17. Hey - this thread has more posts than the latest PENG abomination!! Well done team!!
 18.
quote:
Originally posted by Skipper: Of course not! Late into the war that was a task for 100 mm AT and SPAT guns. Better AP performance, notably better accuracy and much better ROF. It wasnt put into the IS for several reasons, one of them was HE load much lighter than the 122mm.

IIRC the main reason whas that there was plenty of spare capacity for the 122 mm guns, whereas the 100mm had only limited production capacity available. It's AP performance wasn't THAT much better than the 122 to make it worthwhile to delay introduction until it could be produced in numbers.
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by Skipper: I dont think anyone would, unless one's wife won the "me or computer" match.

Who would let that happen??!!
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Panzerman: Here is a movie about allied tanks in Bocage.. http://www.normandy.eb.com/normandy/week3/onormay237v4.html

Check this site out again - according to it 500 tanks were so equipped by 25 July.
 21. IMO you're being way to analystic Jason. There are individuals recollections and journals of what was important to them - not sweeping histories of the war. It is entirely possible that an individual may have found Italy boring and never felt threatened while driving a Pz-III. What proof do you have otherwise?
 22.
quote:
Originally posted by Barfandcuss: I await the acceptance of challenge from a worthwhile opponent.

So I guess you're going to go all blue in the face and fall of your high horse soon.....splash.......yep......there you go. What on earth gives you the idea that anyone here considers you worthwile? Having you sitting around and making the place look untidy is an insult even to the Cesspool crowd that usually makes this place look untidy...not to mention the smell........ If you want a challenge then here's one - GET A LIFE
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by CombinedArms: [QB] --but it might be worth noting that the Panther's 75 gun was very similar in many respects to the 17 pounder--like it a long, high velocity gun that was a great tank killer, and IT doesn't have a cult following in and of itself. The Panther DOES, as a complete tank, but people don't seem to get all dewy-eyed about that excellent gun as such. I think the 88 just picked up a mystique early in the war--when it really was a pretty unique weapon--that it continues to retain. QB]

The 75L70 was never fielded as an AT gun either, which limited it's exposure to only armoured nuits - the 88 AA gun was much more widely distributed, including Infantry units. For the Brits the "mystique" of the 88 pretty much stems from the attack at Halafaya Pass in 1941 IIRC, where one of the RTR's got it's Matilda's massacred at long range - up to then they had been pretty much invulnerable (Arras notwithstanding)
 24. If anyone has acess to the Journal of Strategic Studies, I remember in the early 90's reading an article about German tanks "KO'ed" by airpower in Normandy - the survey was done at the time of course. The conclusion that I recall mst vividly is that many tanks were abandoned in perfect working order with plenty of gas in het tanks with nothing to show why/how except craters somewhere withing a few hundred yards (far too far away to have actually done anything). This included Panthers and Tigers. Apparently it's possible to feel that the tank itself is attracting the unwanted attention and you'd be better of outside it!
