  1. Oh dear, well here it is again for the browserly challenged among us: Budweiser court case
  2. cik's you're probably a marmot or a vole - Gyrene was pretty much just following stereotypes with his little outburst!!
  3. Well duh Mace - it's 'cos you're not playing combat mission of course!! Sheesh! When was the last time you saw a CMBO tank kill one of your plastic ones huh?? QED [ 06-11-2001: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]
  4. How do I get it to send the files? I'veentered the right SMTP server, but it gets "503: server not ready to receive data" error. It doesn't seem to be trying to logon properly - whenever outlook connects it goes through an "authorising" bit that one-click doesn't. Does anyone know what's wrong?
  5. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by David Aitken: Lenin's Grand Piano, you fool, can't you turn that URL into a link, or break it up or somefink? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Nah. works for me, so go get yourself a better computer.....or pay for me to have lessons!! Paying would be better........
  6. There's a famous photo of IS-3's destroyed by the Israelis in 1967 that has one with it's turret blown right off IIRC. The caption says that they were destroyed by AMX-13 light tanks, which is kind of ironical, cos I think the 75 on hte AMX-13 was the same gun as the Panther used!! Anyway - for my money: -several hundred IS-3's were made before WW2 ended (I've seen figures up to 350) -they WERE issued to real, front-line units expected to be battle worthy Neither of these applies to such essoteric prototypes/one-offs/concept vehicles as the Panther 2 or Maus. If you think that these should be in then I fully expect yuo to support TOG being in the next version of the CM engine for hte west - after all it would have been able to fight had the Germans invaded Britain in 1944!
  7. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by MrSpkr: Bloody Canadian bastiches - who do they think they are, anyway? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> they're probably related to those American bastards who try to force us to drink Budweiser brewed in the USA instead of the good Czech stuff! I mean talk about anal retentive - we've got a court case here at he bottom of the world where Budpisser's trying to force the Czech's to stop calling their beer "Budyenny" 'cos ..well...let's just look at he news article about a truly pengesque piece of petulance: <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Annheuser-Busch lawyer Brendan Brown, QC, said the Czech company's trademark should be revoked because Budejovicky Budvar had "Bud", an Annheuser-Busch trademark, in each first syllable and the presence of Budweiser Budvar on the bottle would lead some consumers to understand Budejovicky was equivalent to Budweiser. Heavy underlining of Bud in the trademark was also intended to confuse and the "clipping" of beer names – Bud for Budweiser or Steinie for Steinlager – was well-established, he said.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> ....'cos the first syllable is the same...sheesh.... Fortunately tho' we're not subjected to the same level of labelling as the Feds think yanks need - we have actually managed to figure it out for ourselves that a bit o' the old how's-y'-father isn't so flash if you're up the duff or trying to drive a vibrator! Anyone bored enough to want to read the whole thing can find it here: http://www.stuff.co. nz/inl/indexLite/1,2487,0a10,FF.html?searchId=842571&noResults=9&bTime=Mon+Jun+11+10%3A38%3A10+2001&eTime=Mon+Jun+11+10%3A38%3A11+2001 Now what was my point........didn't have one really....you can all go peng y'selves. I will be the Grrrrmans of course.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Not all of us are ninnies Panties, I'm officially a spokesgit, and I'll have you remember that when you manage to grow up thank you very much! I'll be happy to rip you another one with the faithful, if uninspiring, tommies, assuming you can get organised enough to send me the setup. [ 06-10-2001: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]
  9. JasonC wrote that the 122 would have about the same blast as the 4.5". My comment: The Brit/US 4.5" was renowned for it's LOW quantity of HE filling. I'm not sure if it is modelled in CM (I haven't ever used them), but it should have a quite low blast for the size of gun - it's main role was counter-batter I believe, as it had a very good range. So I'd expect the Russian 122's to have quite a lot higher blast than the 4.5".
  10. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by PzKpfw 1: ....the IS-2 was meant to deal with German fortifications, & be frontaly immune to the standard German AT gun, the7.5 cm PAK.40 ROF realy wasnt an issue vs bunkers & fixed AT positions, except in ammunition limitations, as it would be if the task was tank vs tank fighting. Another aspect concerning the IS-2, is they only carried 5 - 7 AP-T rounds, out of the 28 main gun round's the main loadout was OF (HE) rounds for the above reasons. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Yeah...but CM uses AP vs bunkers if it's available, not HE, so it could actually be a MAJOR hassle!! anyone know if this particular "bug" is goign to be fixed??
  11. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by MrPeng: I vote for this as the new cesspool: 24. no thingy references, <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> You just blew that one!
  12. I thought the reason hi-res mods had no effect is that none of them are actually mods for the projectiles, so the shells are always the same density. OGSF's complaint about his tungsten-tipped hollow charge APDS whatevers missing 'cos they're too dense is just so much Scotch mist - in fact the reason they miss is that he sucks at CM, and no mods are ever[/] going to help until he can type in English. And although the armour pixels are much denser in hi-res they are of course much thinner to maintain the overall weight, so the extra density doesn't help defeat the incoming at all. SO, denser than most [ 06-10-2001: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]
  13. I installed PBEM helper last night & was a bit disappointed with its performance. It seems to me that the 2 things it does is automatically attach the correct file to an outgoing e-mail (so I don't have to search through 2-300 files for it!) and give me a simple list of what games I've got going. Now these are useful.....but it seems a bit much for just that and there's a lot of buttons that don't do much. What am I missing folks?
  14. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Gyrene: The Guinea Pigs and Marmots' contributions to the fighting in the Eastern Front are always grossly exaggerated. It is common knowledge that they didn't even join the fighting until the tide had turned and the Germans were retreating, and as far as the Meerkats go, they are not even proper rodents, and are just jumping on the bandwagon, like all their kind, and claiming to have been on the Resistance now that it is safe to do so and they don't want to feel left out. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Well that doesn't compare too badly to those Moles and Shrews who actually welcomed the Hamsters with open burrows! I think I see Gyrene's purpose here - he's trying to denigrate the rodents still used as food sources in some parts of the world - if it were known what a great contribution they made to the anti-Hamster coalition then there'd be no excuse to roast them! Rodents R US wil be at your door shortly young man, to see you right about a few things!
  15. Gyrene of course completely ignores the Guinea Pigs, Marmots and Meercats from the Caucasus!! I wonder what his agenda is?
  16. Yes, I'm playing him - had a turn yesterday.
  17. OK - another one of those thousands of request - I'm getting a VERY long list of scenarios - half of which I can't remember whether I've played or not!! Will CMBO include some better form of organisation for scenarios (eg folders), and/or a player notes function so we can note "stuff" that we want to remember about each? Ta

  19. The M-8 launcher (for 82mm rockets) elevated between 15 and 45 degrees, the M-31 launcher for the 300mm rocket 10-50 degrees. No figures for the 132mm one sorry.
  20. Probably much the same as other 150mm, but the 122 will be a bit better than the 105's or 4.5's...not quite as good as the 5.5
  21. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Panzer Leader: How could "Stalin's Organ" pass up a thread like this, huh? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Guilty as charged!! Tonight I'll get out my 1 reference work on WW2 rockets & see if it says anything about elevation/depression limits of the various mounts. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> Edited 'cause I'm dumb <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Oh..I'm sorry....were you looking for a rebuttal??
