  1. I love the new aircraft model. Fast, cheap, and deadly. I play overcast when I don't want to worry about planes.
  2. Gary, I tried out the comments feature and it works Great!! Thanks! the site is getting better everyday.
  3. Gary, Is there a way where you can make the opponent finder list everybody based only on their skill level? I tried leaving all of the settings on default and changing the skill selector to veteran, but still couldn't get my own profile to come up. Also, adding a text field to our profile would be nice. Thanks! Btw, site looks nice.
  4. I think it all depends on what kind of game you like. I feel CMBO is more for the gamer than CMBB. In CMBB, everything works like it is supposed to. Machine guns, artillery, flak guns, and airplanes are now modeled correctly. If you wanted CMBO to be more realistic, you'll love CMBB! If you liked flak guns and SMG squads in CMBO, the pace of CMBB might frustrate you. Sometimes I miss the simplicity of CMBO. Some of the "gamey" aspects of the game were a lot of fun, sometimes. Still, I adapted my game to the CMBB model and found it much more challenging and fun. What did you think about the CMBB demo?
  5. KG, I think what you need are some unit restriction rules like the Short 75 and panther 76 rule from CMBO. I fully understand how you feel when you are playing an 800pt or less game in 1941 as the Germans. With settings like that you probably can't buy a decent German tank, but the Russian player can get the KV, I think. Until somebody comes up with a CMBB short 75 rule, make up your own. Try early 1942 with no KV for the Russians and see how much better it is.
  6. Arctarius, I often wonder the same thing. With the Germans in 1941, the best tank they have is the PZ III class with the 50mm/L60. You can knock out the T-34 with this, but need to make a good shot. On the other hand, if the T-34 hits you anywhere your tank is dead. For the KV, just pray for a gun or track hit. If you play a lot of 1941, you might want to ask him not to buy the KVs just to make the game a little more fair.
  7. Those PZ II + IIIs are just slow enough to get killed by Russian PRTD AT squads. It seems that the Germans had fewer gears on their tanks or they used really small engines. The 25mph PZ II tanks are very disappointing. Most of the early PZ tanks only have "good" optics which isin't that much of an advantage over the T-34s optics. Sometimes I wonder how the Germans defeated the T-34 early in the war. [ September 27, 2002, 10:55 PM: Message edited by: catnip ]
  8. Since I haven't played the Russian side yet, I decided to take a look at some of the units today. I went throught the years starting at 1941 and stopping at 1945. At first I looked at the tanks like the T-34,KV, and SU series. They all looked very impressive for the price. Later I looked at the infantry. The most notable unit was the SMG platoon. Now since I haven't played CMBO in almost a year, I thought nothing of the close range firepower. I thought the German SMGs would be pretty close. I was so wrong! Take a look: German SMG squad (9 man squad) Firepower at 40m = 308 Firepower at 100m = 111 Ammo = 20 Cost = 121 Comes with panzerfausts Russian SMG squad (9man squad) Firepower at 40m = 450!!! (50% more) Firepower at 100m = 99 Ammo = 25 (25% more) Comes with Moltovs (so they don't get thirsty) Cost = 96!! Talk about DEEP discount here... I would hate to run into any of these guys in the woods at night. I can't wait to try Russians.
  9. I had the same problem. I solved it by closing all applications(anti virus, etc). I went as far as to use control-alt-delete to close anything that remained. Good luck.
  10. Well, after running to window 20+ times to see if mail came....I finally got it. After another 25 minutes, I got the game installed without a problem! For a while, I was really worried about the install problems people were having, but I just needed to remove my anti virus and the install worked. I really hope the rest of you get the game tomorrow or by Thursday at least. I know it is hard reading about everybody else having fun and not having the game. Hang in there. By the way, my order number is 90,2XX and I ordered on 9/14. Good luck and see you all on the battlefield in the future!
  11. Garry, I really feel for you guys. My order number is 90,2xx and I ordered on 9/14. My email confirmation only showed my order number with nothing in the billing information section, so I don't know if that is good or bad. Then yesterday, I read about somebody else in my city that got it which made me a little worried when my copy didn't arrive. Since I am now unemployed (I didn't quit so I could play CMBB) it is even harder not to think about it. LOL. I sure hope I get it today because I have been running to the window every time I hear somebody open the gate to my apartment. [ September 24, 2002, 06:10 PM: Message edited by: catnip ]
  12. Hmm, 80,000 seems early enough. Lets hope it comes pretty soon for all of us that preordered.
  13. I have a feeling that the delivery date has a lot to do with your order number. Another guy that lives in the same city as I, got his copy yesterday, but I didn't. Apparently, his order number was less than 90,000 and mine was above. You might want to check your order numbers.
  14. Sabrewolf, Was your order number less than 90,000? I also live in S.F., but didn't get it today. I am wondering if it is because I am over 90,000.
  15. Well, I am another one of those 90,000+ orders and no CMBB for me today. I live in the S.F., Ca. Tomorrow maybe?
  16. Well, I am 2-1 vs you and 0-30 vs everybody else. LOL. Looking back on those last two battles, I realize I got a few breaks here and there. Remember those four buildings I blew up on turns 1-2 with my infantry guns. Anyways, I think CMBB QB results are going to be more evenly matched for us, at least early on. Also, without the short 75 and panther 76 rules, there could be some really lopsided games. Oh, get ready to get your eyes scratched out again. 17. Thanks tecumseh, I pre ordered on 9/14, so hopefully i'll get it sometime next week. I sure hope we can all extend our winning ways against kiwi joe Who knows, maybe he will go 3-53 this time??
  18. The "crack at kiwi" web site sounds like a good idea. Why not offer prizes like winecape did in his tournament? Good to see so many familiar names after being away for a year. Catnip
  19. "Howeva losing 2 hulldown langs to a tank 700m+ away is pretty bad luck" It sounds like you are really getting beaten. Face it, you should just say that he outplayed you instead of making excuses. When Kiwi Joe says, "Bad luck" = "Oh my god I am going to lose". "Tight game" = "Time to surrender soon" "**** happens" = "Note to self: Must not play skilled players. Must prey on newbies to inflate win loss record."
  20. Nice moves Jarmo. It sounds like you are putting the "haymaker" on claymore .
  21. DasBaron, I was the one that played you twice last Saturday. As for Axis vs Allied? I feel that each side has advantages depending on the map and weather conditions. Just about all Axis units are cheaper except for artillery and armored scout cars. The biggest allied advantage is artillery. VT artillery and british 3inch mortars are incredible. With 3in mortars you can kill hetzers and other tanks with less than 20mm of top armor. VT is so deadly that you only need a few rounds per turn to break troops. British tanks and vehicles are by far the best of the allies. Sexton with 90+ HE ammo, Churchill tank, Cromwell IV(40mph), Wasp, and of course the Diamler AC(great for killing PZIVs from the front while on the run) I play the allies mostly for the challenge, but when I am in a "gamey" mood i'll play axis and buy all the fun units.
  22. What units did you purchase? Did you buy the Panzer IV/70 in anticipation of the Churchill? Did you smoke him and then move in your SMGs?
  23. Try this phrase: "I have won so many games that I am getting bored of CM".
  24. Jarmo, those results are impressive! Especially for a 30 turn game. I might try out the 105 VT, especially with all those casualties you caused. I still need to find a balance between the piats and other infantry so that I have something to stop the enemy with once it gets past the front line. I might try the At mines again too.
  25. I just did an allied defense of and Axis assault(1500pt with +200 axis bonus) with barbed wire and easily defeated the AI for a final score of 86-14. I killed 20 vehicles, immobilized 2, and gun damaged 3. The barbed wire worked so well that the attacking infantry didn't even make it to the flag areas. Still, a few tanks made it and claimed two flags. For this game I bought: 32x barbed wire 30x Reg Piat(at 50m they are as accurate as vets) 20+ sharpshooter (used to pin infantry without giving position away) 5x TRP 2x 140mm VT Date was march 1945 and map was small. The rest of the settings were default. If anybody wants to play the savegame files of turn 01 and turn 20, let me know and I'll email them to you. [ 06-28-2001: Message edited by: catnip ]
