  1. You can win battles with conscript troops, but it's harder.

The biggest thing that you gain is numbers, and you shouldn't be afraid to use that benefit.

However, there are ways to improve the odds.

Firstly, if you're purchasing units for a QB, buy lots of support units - machine guns and mortars. A conscript 82mm mortar round hurts just as much as an elite one. Conscript MGs and mortars can't use the 'cover arc' function but you can order them to area fire, which works well.

Advance slowly. Keep your platoons in command radius. Keep company HQs close behind the main line of advance to rally fleeing squads. Saturate your target with MG and mortar fire.

I prefer to play using green and conscript troops - I find it much more of a challenge.

This is a TNT-Chucking zone.

Maybe we could move his ears to the top of his head. That way people would be so amazed at how wierd he looks they'd fail to notice the badger on his chin.

  3. Oh, god, NO!!!!!

Fecking computer fecking up the fecking fecked spout. ARGHARHARARHGHGH!!!!

Just had to spend £1100 on a new machine. The old one's 4 1/2 years old, so it's done well, but that's not the point. My computers should run until the universe becomes a cold point of light, or Snarker wins a game, whichever is first.

So no turns until at least Tuesday. The good news is an Athlon64 3500 with 2 gig of RAM and 500GB of SATA drive space should be fast enough for CMX2.

Isn't that ironic considering how bilious Spudball was over *our* conundrum two days ago.

Yet, this is the second time IN A ROW the Wafflers have done this, iirc.

So, Snotball, how does it feel to be on the other end of the derision you used up, worthless, kleenex what's not fit to spit my bubblegum into before being thrown away?

Edited because all you Wafflers look the same to me.

T'aint my fault Snarker doesn't have the brains of a Penger.

.50 cals rocked. They made a really cool noise and put holes in stuff. Why would they not be included as a standard issue?

I suspect you've never had to carry a .50 cal tripod. Google the weight of the .50 - and its ammo. Should be self-evident, even for you. </font>

And I'm going to thump the dog with the BIG, SOFT bbs. No damage done other than shock and scare factor. I'm a little tired of being woken rudely after 0200 multiple times in one week. Although his owner deserves it more for letting him roam at night, his dog will learn this as a second best solution.

Leave the dog alone, cat loving ponce!!!

New version of Alpine Summer only 9 turns to contact. 130 turns to carnage. Too much for unibrow maggot Wafflers.

  7. I managed to pack in three hours of CM map-building yesterday, and finished off the Alpine Summer campaign. It's 42,000 points, 675 turns over 15 battles on an 8km x 4km map.

I also playtested 15 turns of battle 1, and it's quite good fun if you're patient.

I'd put it up at the Scenario Depot but it has a 100kb limit and the scenario is 220kb. I'll have to email it to Admiral Keth.

Turns out when I'm back from work (Wednesday, by the look of things).
