Bald Crazy Room Locker? MadM

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by endit: In CM, all my tanks, troops, etc have boxes underneath them, usually some bright or weird color. Is this usual? Interesting, yet funny fact about Hitler.

Manx, congratulations on the one-year anniversary of Combat Missions. You’ve kept us all happy with great mods, scenarios, and other goodies. Great CM sites like yours make this game better and better all the time. Keep up the excellent work and may the bandwidth gods be with you.

I'm running a 64MB NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS that I guarantee will amaze you, but it’s a bit pricey I suppose.

No more wearing sunglasses  to read the forum. Thanks Madmatt. -
What's new with the Forum???
Sgt Fred replied to aka_tom_w's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Man, this light background has got to go. I also noticed that you can't do searches by user name. You've got to use the "Member Number" I could do without that. Cool instant UBB stuff. Also it would be nice if your member number was available in the edit profile screen. No spell check??? -
Mod: Wespe, Marder, and German guns
Sgt Fred replied to Sgt Fred's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Shameless bump now that the image works. ------------------ Later, Dave -
I think awarding yourself with the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with gold oak leaves, swords, and diamonds is a bit much. I fully realize this is all fantasy and we're talking about a game here, but it seems excessive to me. Just my .02c ------------------ Later, Dave

Mod: Wespe, Marder, and German guns
Sgt Fred replied to Sgt Fred's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
It would seem that Photopoint.com is not happy with my image. It's only 127k. I can't even get into my Photopoint account right now, but as soon as I can, I'll fix it. Looks like Photopoint's image link works now. Sorry for the delay. ------------------ Later, Dave [This message has been edited by Sgt Fred (edited 03-30-2001).] -
I'm not going to pretend this is some entirely original new mod, but I think it adds to the game. It is simply the original BTS skins that I have color balanced and darkened to make the "dark yellow" base more, well,... dark yellow. I like the original BTS patterns for the Wespe, Marder II and Marder III and the german guns just fine. I just do not like the almost white "dark yellow". I started by just trying to adjust the Wespe mod and soon discovered that I'd opened a can of mod worms. As many of you know the BMPs for the Wespe are shared by the Marder III. When your done with that you find that the gun for the Marder III is shared by the Pak 38 and Pak 40, so you change those. Now you've got to deal with those Pak parts that are shared with the 8cm PAW which in turn shares BMPs with the 88mm Puppchen and then, almost finally, the 105mm RCL. At last you find that the 105mm RCL shares the wheel with the 75mm IG and it is apparent that this multi-mod complex will never end and you satisfy yourself that its okay if the 75mm IG has a darker yellow wheel. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, once you've done all this the gun parts on the Marder II look funky so that, of course, has to be color balanced and darkened as well (I also increased the size of the dark red and dark green spots on the Marder II). At any rate, I think all these units look better in their new darker yellow base color and I figured some of you may prefer it as well. If someone wants this mod or wishes to host it send me an email. I present the semi-new WespmarderIIIpak38pak40PAWpuppchen105mmRCLmarderII mod: The Marder III isn't in the pic because it basically looks like the Wespe and there's already too much stuff in the screen shot anyway. ------------------ Later, Dave [This message has been edited by Sgt Fred (edited 03-30-2001).]

Manx, your list rules!! Has anyone considered a mod rating system? Kinda like the one for scenarios with 1 to 5 stars or whatever. Manx maybe you could add something like that to your mod list. A "Rate This Mod" button. True modsluts like myself will probably download and check out just about every mod there is anyway, but maybe the newer players would appreciate something like this. Then again, maybe the mod artists would not. At any rate, there's getting to be so many mods. By the time CM2 is released there's going to be hundreds of them, and then, presumably, there will be a gazillion new ones for that as well. Obviously there would be lots of subjectivity in any rating system, but I would encourage you or someone else to give it a try. I simply do not have the time or the html skills to do this. Any (constructive, non-abusive) ideas anyone? ------------------ Later, Dave

That's the divisional marking for the 1st SS PzGren. Div. LAH used during the Kursk offensive. All the SS divisions at Kursk used "special" division markings in an attempt to deceive the Soviets as to their OoB. Judging from the outcome of the battle, it didn't work or at least it didn't matter. Some SS divisions continued using the Kursk symbology for some time after the battle, so you see them on SS AFVs even into early 1944. ------------------ Later, Dave

That drawing would be a wolverine (Gulo luscus). One of the meanest animals pound for pound in the world. An adult weighs `50 lbs and there are verifiable records of them taking adult elk 500-1000 lbs !! Nasty little buggers. ------------------ Later, Dave [This message has been edited by Sgt Fred (edited 03-08-2001).]

Try replacing BMP "4000.bmp" from the BMP directory on your CMBO CD to the BMP directory on your hard drive. ------------------ Later, Dave -

Mod for bases under units or bmp #'s?????
Sgt Fred replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
As Lord General MB has said the bases are hardcoded. You cannot mod them. You cannot change them. ------------------ Later, Dave -
I did a search for this with no luck. Has anyone noticed a diagonal black line on the rear side hull (.bmp 3380) of the JPz IV. You can't see it if you view the .bmp in a graphics application, but it's there in the game. Very strange. I've changed to several different mods and it's still there. Am I losing my mind? Do I have a corrupt file somewhere? Wazzup? ------------------ Later, Dave

Poll: How many mods do you use?
Sgt Fred replied to 109 Gustav's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
E and adding more every day. It's come to the point where I spend almost as much time tinkering with mods as I do playing the game. ------------------ Later, Dave
