  1. I know the feeling. I still get nightmares at night of watching a German infatnry squad fire a faust at a churchill at 90 meters... the 'Schwwwgggh' of the launch, the 'boooommm' of the churchill exploding because of a frontal hit with the faust. Followed with that mechanical 'thud' reminding you that you have one tank less... Gggkkk! It was horrible, horrible edited because there's a differnce between a fayst and a schreck... ------------------ Gilthoniel A Elbereth! 2. true, but I like the fact that I cna mkae the window larger as well. Anyway, I'll just live with it, I guess...
  3. Well, I tries a new minimal install in a different folder, and it didn't work. guess it is the video card then... Ah well, gives me something to ask for ym birthday Thanks for your help, all...
  4. I know, that's why CM crashed the first time. I changed the splash screen, and now it works fine. untill you ahve to load the 3d models...
  5. What happened is the follwing: my desktop ran out of space, so I canged the resolution of my computer to 1024*768. No problem at all. I try to run CM, it crashes. And I tested it, it works if I changes my resolution back to 800*600, but that messes up my desktop. All other games I have played with my new resoltution work... Perhaps it is one of the mods. I should prlly install a second copy and test it before installing any mods.
  6. Did that. Still, the game crashes as it's loading the 3d models...
  7. Ok, i'll give that a try... hope it works...
  8. fragged Cm prefernces. disabled virtual memory installed opengl that came with 1.1.2 redownloaded combat mission patch, replaced application wiht one from patch set memory to 60mb didn't help. Still the same crash.... Hmmm. And it did work with 800*600. Should I perhaps reinstall CM completly? It is gonna be a bit difficult to replace my mods, but it could be done...
  9. Now, I changed resolution because of the fact that my desktop was filling up. I deleted the preferences of CM, and started up. It crashed with a type two error. Not enough memory. So, I gave it more ram. It's now at 160 mb, and I have 160 Mb of real ram and 90 mb of virtual memory. Still didn't work. I thought it may ahve something to do with the intro screen still being at 800 * 600. So I changed my intro screen to something else. It started up. Victory, I thought. However, as I tried to load a game, it crashed as it loaded the 3D models. No error message. I installed some interface mods, but the problem remained. Now, I turn to the collective wisdom of the CM players. did anyone have something similar? How did they solve it? Please help me, I can't live without my CM... My system is an iMac rev. C, with 160 mb of ram and 90 mb of virtual memory. Standard video card.... ------------------ Gilthoniel A Elbereth! A Elbereth Gilthoniel o menel palan-diriel, le nallon sí di'nguruthos! 12. I once targeted a sherman using a shreck. It missed, but the building behind the sherman got hit and collapsed. ------------------ Gilthoniel A Elbereth! A Elbereth Gilthoniel o menel palan-diriel, le nallon sí di'nguruthos! A tiro nin, Fanuilos!
  13. Well, in the conquered countries there were 'foreign legions', who went to fight in the east.
  14. Well, a bocage is a wall on wich trees and plants grow. This provides a very dense structure, where tanks have a very hard time getting over. Now, the allies stuck a very large knive-like thingy on their tanks, so they could slice trough the thing , and go trough it. The Germans, on the other hand, didn't do this, so it was practicly impossible for them to go trough those bocages. Hope this helps. ------------------ Gilthoniel A Elbereth! 15. Odly enough, I once saw something similar to this. In a hotseat game, in that small city scenario, where you get a priest and a tank, my opponent spotted my gun. Instead of shooting at it, or driving away, he drove it hugging my gun. Then: boom! The gun gets killed. I didn't see a shot from the tank, but it may be possible the machineguns got it. Still, it's odd... ------------------ Gilthoniel A Elbereth! A Elbereth Gilthoniel o menel palan-diriel, le nallon sí di'nguruthos! A tiro nin, Fanuilos!
  16. Well, you should try to avoid taking tanks to fight in cities. Even if those at teams miss, they'll let buildings collapse often enough (happened to me a lot of times) But I guess some decently armored, big gunned tank is good. the AVRE or something. Also, flametrower tanks are lovely
  17. Not exactly. There are two parts of Belgium: the Dutch-speaking side, and the French-speaking side. I think they all had separte divisions ( or regiments, or something) So, you should combine Dutch and French together. Or put Dutch/flemish and french/(er, what's the english for this) 'wallons', in French I think. I'm no hero in other languages
  18. I think I just found out where Lucasarts found the inspiration of for the AT-ST ------------------ I didn't find a signature. Yet. Wait a sec... This is my signature now isn't it? Ah well...
