  1. So far - NONE! GASP I've only had CM for a week though. On the other hand, I'm running on an 11MB integrated 3D video deal, so I doubt I'll want to get any hi-res mods. I'm thinking about getting some different buildings however. I play the game for the game though, not for how cool it looks...
  2. Well I'm glad to see that there may be some reasons for Germans picking this time frame, and that I'm not just paranoid. It is interesting that one of the two didn't want to use any "Fionn rules" type restrictions. He hasn't sent any files back yet, so we'll see what he's got cooking.
  3. I've had several PBEM requests from axis players who are choosing Nov 44 as the time frame. I find this a bit suspicious... So what units are available for the axis in nov 44, or conversely, what allied units aren't available in Nov 44, that would cause these axis players to want to play at this time?
  4. And on a related note... How long does an ambush marker stay "on the map"? The reason I ask is because on several occassions I've placed an AM, (using an HQ). Then I have had a squad target said AM. Next turn rolls around, and I find the athe squad is no longer targeting the AM, and the AM itself has disappeared. Any ideas as to what's going on with that?
  5. Yes, you're so special you're likely to get some "special" attention from madmatt...
  6. Sitting in my office on the ninth floor of a building in Bellevue Washington. Heard this strange banging noise. "Well there's a lot of construction going on nearby..."Then I notice that I seem to be moving up and down a bit. "What the hell?..." Then I notice the blinds are starting to sway. "Man is it really that windy?" HEY DUMB ASS IT'S.... "Oh man, it's an earthquake......" Good thing I wasn't playing CM, as I might have thought, "what the hell was that, are those those 14" naval guns they were talking about...." And 6.8 is damn big if it lasts for 45 seconds and your in a big tall office tower that, should it collapse, will leave you dead in a pile of rubble. It was very spooky
  7. It came! Sounds good, though wouldn't I get more points in an assult? Not sure how the QB gererator works that out. Whatever works. Learning experience... Guess I'll need to read the manual as well...
  8. Got home from work... Looked around the house.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.......... Like I said, there's always hope for Saturday...
  9. Well then there is hope. It's got to make it all the way to Seattle, but if not today, then perhaps tomorrow !!!! Set up that QB and send it off!
  10. Well I ordered last Friday, and I haven't yet gotten mine here in Seattle, WA. One thing you shold be aware of is that Monday was "Presidents Day" and the PO was not open. Now if it got in the system before then, that wouldn't matter. But for most, it was not a "business day".
  11. Except for the fact that there's a good chance he's playing with the unpatched, (read 1.11), version and not 1.12...
  12. Kingfish- I love your post. I find myself saying "survive those damn Jabos" to myself all day long... [This message has been edited by Windopaene (edited 02-20-2001).]
  13. Yeah, I ordered on Friday, and here it is saturday, and it hasn't arrived yet. just WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THAT???!!! Can't wait till the end of next week...
  14. Oops, didn't see that other thread down there...
  15. And the order has been placed. Now my new CM capable PC will have something to do...
  16. I'm a lurker, because I have very little to say. Of course as soon as BTS gets the game BACK IN STOCK and I can actually play something other than the demo.... Then I will have more to say...
  17. So when the 26th rolls around, and I can finally order a copy of CM, will it be this final 1.12 version, or will I still need to patch it?
  18. Blitzkrieg for me, followed up closely by Panzerblitz, etc., etc, ad infinitum [This message has been edited by Windopaene (edited 02-02-2001).]
  19. Vanir- Actually the variable end turn feature has been removed from SPWAW. But here's some perspective. I never played Steel Panthers. Then I heard about SPWAW, and downloaded it, and have been patching and playing since the first release. As far as hex-based style wargames, it's as good as they come. I have not been playing CM during this period. Having only a pentium 150 with no 3d capability, CM was not an option. Then last week my PC died. Now I have a new one. P3 850 with some kind of on-board Intel 3d jazz. What's the first thing I do? Download the CM demo of course. I'm still learning the ropes, but from what I can see the're not even similar, except for the subject matter. SPWAW has more scope, (larger battles, more countries, more terrain). CM seems much harder for me to grasp. Playing Chance Encounter and getting my butt handed to me by those damn Stugs. Seems that tanks are much more lethal in CM than SPWAW, (more first shot one shot kills in CM). Restarted that one and have now gotten all three Stugs losing only 3 of my Shermans, (prepare to die Nazi pigs), but I digress. Have I played SPWAW since I downloaded the demo? - No. Will I again - Yes. Will I buy CM? - Certainly appears so Is SPWAW free? - Yes Once I buy CM will I not look back at SPWAW? - Hard to say, but I think I will play both. Have I become assimilated? - Looks like it. Does SPWAW still have some bugs? - Yes. Is SPWAW still a great game? - Yes. My two cents anyway...
  20. AS it was an old pentium 150, Windows 95a, a Compaq (never again), no 3D capability at all. I'm sure you're starting to see why its demise would be a good thing... Already getting my ass kicked in Chance Encounter... Get the Borg ready...
