1. Yes, thank you Randl, I've done that on occation (especially when I know where I my path will be going). But sometimes I didn't get inspired till I got my endpoint placed. I also hoped for more of a response from everyone.
2. Another nice trick is to include WP with your smoke mission. The nasty of it is if you inhale some, it will burn inside of you.
3. Aces of Aces! How could I forget? That is about the easiest game to learn! I would take a set with me when I went on road trips with my high school swim team.
4. Yes Andrew I know that the last point can be edited. My problem is I want to keep the last point. I just put three movement orders together and placed the last points using full zoom. But now I see I need to angle my path or make one more dog leg to keep under cover. I've got to redo my path a second time! Drat! Now, wouldn't a command to add a waypoint be much neater than redoing your orders, especially during a timed match?
5. I've done a search and I don't see anything about inserting or deleting waypoints. Yes I know I can move the point boxes after I place them, and all. When I'm scouting for my next units position I pick where I want them. I sometimes find that my path will expose my unit to danger and I have to redo my endpoint to add or delete a point along my units path. I don't think anything can be done about it for CM but I'd like to see it included in CM2. ------------------ 'Lets go you apes! You want to live forever?'
6. The first board game I played was called City Fight by the now defunct SPI. It was a modern kind of CM in a way. There were two identical boards for each side to simulate the fog of war. The first computer game I played was a made up computer program dubbed Empire. It was made for the C-64 and it was like a space version of risk. A great beer and pretzel game. ------------------ 'Lets go you apes! You want to live forever?'
7. Thank you. I just got Directx 8.0. It's looking better already. I can't wait to see how it runs! ------------------ 'Lets go you apes! You want to live forever?'
8. I can type ok, but the spoken word is golden! Does anyone know the status on this subject? I've run a search but haven't come up with anything specifically. I know I really don't need it, (like caller ID) but its nice to have. ------------------ 'Lets go you apes! You want to live forever?'
9.
quote:
Originally posted by jasoncawley@ameritech.net: In my opinion, the least realistic thing about fire missions in CM is the great flexibility it allows the FO to adjust a fire mission after it has been called but before it has arrived. In real life, this is distinctly harder to do. CM puts only a modest time penalty on it, which I consider quite generous, and allows automatic and instant cut-off of a fire mission in process, which a real-world FO can only dream about having in practice. But these added bits of flexibility are close enough and improve playability, so I don't really mind them.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here, Here! I totally agree. ------------------ 'Lets go you apes! You want to live forever?'
10. You take it as a lesson. Yes, your opponent read your situation and countered you. There will be more, and yes sometimes its very, very bad. Muhahahaha!!!! ------------------ 'Lets go you apes! You want to live forever?'

15. I've seen a 155's HE round explode on a slight rise, roughly 50m out from the gun tube (in real life, the gun was depressed during a direct fire exceresize vs. a target 1500m away). The schrapnell did go out in a ellipse, but it was a very wide ellipse almost perpendicular to the explosion. It was quite spectacular. Also isn't there some sort of minumum arming range for the fuses? (I also know how easy it is to damage a fuse) ------------------ 'Lets go you apes! You want to live forever?' 16. I do see something with the AI that I find hard to accept. Its the AI the lay on a target and get almost ready to fire and then switch to another target (when completing the fire order and relaying the gun would have timed the ROF of the weapon platform with only a small amount of delay), and then switch again! I know there are enemy out there! It won't do no good if it's still in the tube! [excuse me I wrote this before I got the new 1.1 patch and played it. I think it works incredable. Good job BTS!] ------------------ 'Lets go you apes! You want to live forever?' [This message has been edited by Radar (edited 01-21-2001).]
17.
quote:
Originally posted by KiwiJoe: http://www.geocities.com/Augusta/8172/panzerfaust1.htm read that, pretty much covers it.

Wow, thanks KiwiJoe! ------------------ 'Lets go you apes! You want to live forever?'
18. It seems to me that a person should easily be able to throw a grenade through the trees in a forest for 30m's during the day. Were they scattered trees, woods, or tall pines?? Either way though, these aren't rain forests we're talking about. I could go out to my backyard right now and chuck a grenade a good 40-50m's at a target. And I would say that I live in "woods". But, I'm no expert. Thanks, Jim
19. Well I gotta include Panzer Commander (its a sim), there is nothing better than taking on those pesky t34-85's with your KT's and vise verse. Using Roger Wilco makes team play incredable. Harpoon is a fine title as well as Aces of the Pacific. Nothing compares to Combat Missions, though. ------------------ 'Lets go you apes! You want to live forever?'
20. Hey nice to see ya Cush! ...Raven496... Hope you get this going soon. I'll take you on then! LOL Catchya around. [This message has been edited by Radar (edited 01-05-2001).]
21. Hey I haven't been able to reproduce the prisoner bug unless I oreder the prisoner into the forward battle area...In another note I've been able to reproduce the bug that dupes the fortifications..I've sent a report form and error log. ------------------ Shwing!
22. More fun than a barrel of Monkeys! ------------------ Shwing!
23. Yes, I played an Attack QB and I was on the defence. I had several prisoners all over the board and they all refused to move. I also noticed the defence structures (mines, wire, TRP, ETC.) were pictured as being still being in the setup area. It looked like I had forgot to place them. My opponent gave me the impression that he could see them too.
24. IMHO Sun Szu's The Art of War is a must to have in your library. The conceptual convention is brilliant and timeless. ------------------ Shwing!
25. In setting up a TRP an FO adjusts with one tube per battery or platoon. That adjustment is then noted in the FDC. Subsequent CFF (Calls For Fire) can be made by the FO from the TRP. Adjustments are made again with one tube. Final adjustment (before FFE) depends on the FO ability and the target. TRP's can be made in and around all types of terrain..including craters and burned out buildings..and thick woods. The flash and smoke are usually very visible (ya gotta know where and when to look). ------------------ "Your in it now -up to your neck! You got me in the mood to using this thing...I'll use it on you!" -Guns of Navarrone
