I remember the the CMBB D-Day - coming home from work and checking the board to see if anyone had received it yet - and then plotting it day-by-day as it moved throughout the country, with players at some compound in Montana receiving their copy 4 days later than people who lived closer to the coasts.Originally posted by Andrew H.:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by Speedy:
I remember that, having to wait two weeks for the package to get here was not fun.
Of course listening to all the whining Canadians was great.
And then 3 weeks later or so it seemed to arrive in Toronto... </font>

Joe,
Thanks for the podcast. It was interesting to hear other computer wargamers voices (I think). Starting to get very interested in CMSF now that its release is so close.

That is a certainty. Might not be as bad as the one will be for CMSF download/release day.Originally posted by Peterk:Can we have another night of the refreshing monkeys party?
So Moon is it 12:00am on April 19 for the digital download? Which timezone?

This digital download thing is great and a bit disappointing. Remember the fun we had when CMBB was first released? Watching the posts as it arrived first in the Northeast, then the Midwest and the West Coast and then a few days later I finally received it. Watching the posts of how people would come home from work and find CMBB waiting for them and then going home and not finding CMBB waiting for me. That anticipation was awesome. Now, instant gratification for Theatre of War and CMSF. Oh well.
Maybe just for old times sake I will download via dialup.

I am stuck on 110. Sort of. If I advance until I can ID the trench and then stagger the 2 squads between area fire on the trench and advancing I can win 100-0. Any other method
I try is a disaster. If the MG can fire on my greens and stay hidded it is all over. My recon by death is recon by loss.
Any thoughts? My lesson here is that recon by
fire is the way to go. Can that be true? Area
fire any likely hiding spot on the advance?
Thanks JasonC for these scenarios. Lots to learn.

I don't think that the Sturmtiger is available in May 1944 historically so the same is true in the game. Earliest it is available is August 1944 after a quick check. You can make it available (ahistorically of course) by setting the date to August 1944 in the Parameters section of the scenario while you are editing it. Select the Sturm Tiger and then set the date back to what you wanted and viola you can have any unit about whenever you want. Even Sturmtigers in 1941. Coolio.Originally posted by Ministry:I am trying to make a scenario with this unit but cant seem to make it selectable. I am in May 1944....I know its really rare but shouldnt I be able to choose this unit? Whats the secret?
Hope this helps.

Not sure that it helps but I am running great on a Inspiron 8200 with almost the same specs as you except for the 64MB nvidia card.
Maybe you can return the 4150 and get a 8200?
That was one of the reasons that I went with the Dell was the return policy.
Good luck,

Greetings,
Since I started the thread, I thought I should weigh in even now that I have had the game for a week. It is very, very fun. The manual is awesome.
It turns out that mine was "delayed" due to ordering multiple copies which put it into the UPS not USPS shipping arena. If you ordered multiple copies expect some delay at least that was my experience.
Hang in there guys it is really worth the wait.

Guys,
Why not generate a map in the scenario editor and
exchange it prior to setting the game up and then
import that map into the quick battle? That seems
to be the fairest way as both players can see the
map before purchasing units. I haven't done it yet, but it seems like a real good way to go.

Hmmm. I tried a few test runs at 1000m.
8 Reg Hetzers vs 8 Reg T34/85s
1. Draw 7 of each KOd
2. Axis victory 4 Hetzers dead 7 T34s dead
3. Axis victory 4 Hetzers dead 8 T34s dead
4. Axis victory 4 Hetzers dead 8 T34s dead
5. Axis victory 3 Hetzers dead 8 T34s dead
YMMV Bobo

Yep to both, but the same setup worked great with CMBO just the previous weekend.Originally posted by rune:Are you running anything like zone alarm or any type of firewall?

Try page 163 in the Note: section. It talks about placing damaged buildings and bridges.
Basically, place a rubble tile, preview the map,
go back to the map edit screen and replace that
tile with a building and it will now be destroyed on the map.
Hope this helps.

Greetings,
I have found that if I enter into a fresh CMBB session and immediately (ie do nothing else) try to join a TCP/IP session I will get a complete
system lock up that is only recoverable with Ctrl-Alt-Del. If I start a scenario first and then exit and start a TCP/IP no lock up. So I am doing that.
I am running WindowsME, PIII 700MHz laptop.
I am also now having trouble connecting to TCP/IP games on CMBB after no troubles with CMBO. I don't think that anything has changed has it?

I ordered 1 CMBB and 1 Combo Pack so that would be multiple orders? Better put a signature on the
door tomorrow for the UPS man if that is a possibility.
I think I could handle the waiting, but the harrassment from my wife over my pouting is getting ridiculous.
Still from the waiting.
Bobo

Steve,
Is it true that all orders were sent out via USPS?
I saw reports here that UPS was handling mutliple orders?
Yes, no, maybe?
Thanks,

OK. This is good or at least less lonely. Me and
Vader's Jester no CMBB.
Misery loves company.

Apparently not. Man this is below average.
-
Anyone else in the same boat? I preordered on
the 9th.
Anyone?
Very sad....
-
vader,
You and me we be brothers in agony man. Hopefully
tomorrow. Wonder if something went wrong with my order.

Greetings,
Since I am extremely bumming with no CMBB even
though others in the same metro area got it on
Monday, I thought I would start a thread for the
few of us in the USA who preodered and are
still waiting. Let me from ya! Maybe we can
channel some effeciency to the USPS before we
start harassing BFC.

Old Timers ... Remember When
in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Posted
The really good old days....
I remember this also and remember how pleased I was when I heard the news. After suffering through the Keith Z days and
Close Combat hearing that BTS was going to work on Computer ASL was so exciting.
CMBO, CMBB and CMAK did not disappoint...
I suspect CMSF will be the same...
