4. Yep, They range from Small to Huge in the retail version. If I remember correctly the demo maps were either small or medium. So there are much bigger maps availble. ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower

 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Jagdwyrm: I never do it can anyone tell me any advantages to doing this?

Check out the Games of War website. Look under Tactics and follow the links on Infantry Platoons. They cover some situations about formations and splitting squads. www.gamesofwar.de/ ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 10. I just finished reading the post (all the way through). Very interesting, A LOT of FUN to read. Thanks again for your hard work!! ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 11. It would be nice to see some sort of list of the best and worst performing units with their kills/captures following a battle. Perhaps comparing best Axis armor unit vs. best Allies Armor unit, Infantry vs. Infrantry, etc.. However, with BTS so responsive to other matters related to actual game play (off-raod speed and spotting, etc.) I feel perfectly happy to wait for de-briefing screens. THANKS BTS for your interest and reponsiveness to our desires, want, wishes, etc.. ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 12. Thanks for all the information!!!Great job getting all of the stuff together!! I hope you used a dictation program . I too would be interested in the sources (not for a report though ). ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by mikeadams: My reading of the BTS position is that the units should be allowed to do what the AI feels is best for that unit at that moment in time, the player's desires are secondary. I agree with this, otherwise we end up with a board game where units only do exactly what we determine. For me, much of the enjoyment of CM is that I DON'T know whether a unit will do what I want, and to still be able to come up with the winning tactics.

I agree, IMHO half the fun of CM is seeing whether or not the troops are actually able to carry out the orders. For me it adds to the realism of being a "commander" (i.e. What's with Robinson, why is g--dammed holding back?!). I think the "frustration" factor in target/movement selection ADDS to the game by building tension when viewing the playback mode. But, of course, that's only my $0.02 ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 14. I think Pillar has an IMPORTANT point. I've been frustrated by smoke many times. I just happened to read this thread after I read through the "My sharpshooter sucks" thread. I didn't mean offend anyone , I was just trying to spread the merriment. Please forgive. ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 15.
quote:
Now I know that as soon as I post this I will be getting, "well I shot the face out of a dollar bill at 10000 meters with a .22".

Actually I THREW the bullet through the face of a Dollar bill at that range ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 16. Be reasonable....if sharpshooters can't shoot through air accurately, how can expect them to shoot through smoke? ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 17. Gotcha!! Thanks for answering my incipid questions!
 18. Nope....Guess not.... ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 19. Tahks very much! My first (and second?) messages were unclear. I got those smilies down-I was wondering about the Borg, and Angel and such. A test
 20. Hey I just became a "Member", how'd that happen? Do I get the smilies NOW? ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 21. Ok...enough teasing. HOW do you guys do that? I got'sta know! Please (he whimpers) ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 22. See the thread "Why DO Houses blow up". Seems to fit with your request. ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
 23.
quote:
Pak40: It would be nice to throw a randomizing factor that would make some rubble areas collapse even further if fired upon. This would make it more risky for infantry to occupy a rubble area.

Great idea! Would also be possible to have randomly generated defense levels for the wreckage? For example, some buildings may have a lot of defensive value while others may have little or no use as a defense. Question: Do buildings ever burn AFTER they collapse? Or is all wreckage habitable? ------------------ "Do not needlessly endanger your lives until I give you the signal" Dwight D. Eisenhower
