  1. I made a few modifications to suit my own taste. They are available as a zip file here.

I changed the text colour of Tiring, Tired and Exhausted to show the state more clearly - the text becomes progressively more yellow.

Did the same to the Alerted > Panic > Routed sequence.

Changed the leader morale icon (heart) to red, the lightning to yellow and the stealth icon to a violet shading (much nicer then the original stealth icon).

Made the Hiding text grey and the Captured text light blue.

I'll post it on CMMODS in a while - I'll use it a bit first. Fell free to take a copy. And do send me some feedback.

  2. I tried it out, but may go back to PakFan's. Or change it a bit. I'll try it a bit longer to get used to it.

The HQ abilities are hard to spot - a bit of colour might fix that (yellow lightning, red heart).

The arrow and playback buttons are out of sync with the rest IMO - too futuristic.

I have some difficulty getting used to reading the unit status at a glance - pinned, tired taking cover etc. But that may be a question of getting used to them.

But there are tons of other very nice details. The attention to detail is remarkable. Great work, Tarkus!

  3. Hi weasleboy!

You might want to check out my campaign (se my sig). It's against the AI and I use the mechanisms General Colt described to adjust the difficulty. It is based on QB's and doesn't quite compare to a carefully crafted scenario, but it allows you to follow a core force over several battles. And the current beta version has rules for importing maps (check out Pyewackets tool)

  4. I do CMBB >> CMBB, so you should be able to do CMAK >> CMAK directly.

    A small suggestion, Pyewacket:

Those mirror buttons would be easier to use if they said: "Mirror Horizontally" and "Mirror Vertically" (or you can abbreviate them) and the vertical mirror button should have a vertican orientation - positioned beside the graph. You might also use an arrow (textual or graphical), e.g. "Mirror <-->" and

  5. I have been brwosing through all the maps that are available for download with BCR (here) and have found that they - in general - have too many buildings and too many roads for the Soviet Union in the 1940's. This isn't modern USA where every house is on a road and where houses are aligned symmetrically. I'm just wondering if this is my own - completely misguided - opinion or if others share it.

My purpose of going through the maps was to classify them for use in ROQC, so that I can identify a good match automatically (in a spreadsheet) for the current battle. In doing that, I also declassified a good deal of maps from rural status (there's a spreadsheet that can be downloaded with the maps that have such a classification). I interpret Rural to be practically devoid of houses and fields. And roads. Am I misguided here as well?

  6. I just released a beta version of ROQC that allows the user to use your tool to import maps. I've been missing out on this feature for a long time.

I added a spreadsheet page in ROQC that does an automatic match for you, so you can easily find the best match to the parameters you rolled up - now I just need to expand the list of maps on this list, that is look up their size, terrain, setup zones etc.

Great work, Pyewacket. Thanks a lot for making this tool.

  7. Worked on second try. I copied a map into a file with existing units, and they showed up just fine on the map preview.

I expect the trick is to exit CM after reading the map and restart it before writing, and that having other applications open is less of a problem though I did close a good deal of them(I'm using WinXP). Why do I need to exit and reload CM?

Does your application need to copy into an empty, default map?

  8. Can I use this to import (copy) an existing map into a scenario file in the same program (e.g. read from CMBB, load another scenario in CMBB, write to CMBB)?

It would be useful in ROQC. I have been stuck with using random maps as I use the scenario file to keep the core force, and I can't import a map into this scenario file in the editor.

  9. I have a new beta version available with several good changes:

    - Snipers added as separate unit category (SN, see 5.3.1) with separate experience rules so that they have a better chance of gaining experience.

    - Returning casualties modified to take into account the number of flags you hold at the end of the battle.

    - The ability to use Favor to modify the battle size has been changed into an ability to use Favor to get more support (which you buy in the editor, so it is on top of the QB purchase).

    - Enemy Force Handicap increased for Meeting Engagements at Normal difficulty and above.

    - Tree Coverage, Hills and Damage modifiers increased for Raids to give a higher chance of terrain with cover.

    - Favor calculation for Raids changed to start with negative Favor, which is then offset by accomplishing the mission.

    - You now get a small number of replacements as a minimum after each battle.

Tell me if you're interested in trying it out. Make sure to specify which version you want (CMBB or CMAK)
