Therymopoly? I thought that's the game were you buy streets and place hotels on them so you get money from the other players.

That reminds me of a a certain PBEM I'm currently playing...

Whenever I went to the tech support forum the last 1-2 years Schrullenhaft did his best to help guys with their problems.
For me he's one of CM's unsung heroes...
-
I'm still not sure who is more annoying, not-so-funnyman or noncombat-general...
Maybe they could play a pbem against each other.
I guess the AAR would be a classic...

Hi mom!
-
Congratulations, Wild Bill!
I wish you and your family all the best!

That reminds me of my most memorable kill yet: a 20mm knocked out a Super Pershing.
First, the 20mm got a track hit on the Pershing, immobilizing it. Them the patch of trees in which the Pershing sat caught fire, forcing the crew to abandon their tank.
God, was my opponent pissed...

Hm, does somebody know what's the mmaximum number of CM games you an run at the same time? I think it depends on your RAM, anyone managed to crash CM that way?
I just did a test with 25 games running at the same time, still no problems.
And I still apply for the most useless test of the month award!

I hereby recommend you for the title of "Greatest CM player of all time"
Congratulations!

OK, I just did a test to find out more about the possibility of replaying a whole battle.
I loaded 20 (!) CMs, loaded one turn of a 20 turn 1000 points QB attack into each and watched!
I started with game 1, turn 1 and worked though to game 20, turn 20. Although it's a cumbersome way to start all those games, it shows that it CAN be done.
Interesting: even with 20 CMs running I didn't get graphics stutter or even slowdowns!
I got a AMD 800Mhz with 448 MB RAM and a Geforce2 MX.
I hereby apply for the
most useless test of the month

I just never thought about doing that.
With most games you would get stuck or get CTDs...
So maybe this is for the tactically challenged:
Play a few TCP/IP games with 1 minute time limits simultaneously...
-
Just played a little bit with a paint program, to show what it could look like.
I'm no artist, so forgive me...
Dammit, I can't get it to show the larger version of the pic, sorry guys.

OK, I'm sure this is known already for ages...
but it was pretty new to me!
I had CM running, doing a QB against the AI when I recieved a PBEM turn. I hit "esc", then I accidently started CM again after saving the turn to the PBEM folder. Now I had two CMs running without problems.
I tried a third one, a forth one, no problem!
I could switch between 4 CM games using "esc" without problems. No sound cut-outs, no CTDs.
I'm impressed!
I was already so much used to play a PBEM turn, "alt-a", load another game, now I can play several Pbems at once!
And this after playing CM for 1 1/2 years ...

hehe, looks like we're thinking about the same things...

Fantastic work, Andrew!
One of the most detailed mods I've seen so far!
And when looking into my "CM mods" folder, I can see a lot of them...
Thanks!

That was the one I was thinking of, too. One of the best briefings in a sim/wargame so far.

A real beauty! Great work, mike8g!
Nice details on top.
It's been some time since my last mod download, but this one I must have...
-
Oh my god! They're doing it again!!
They are using the dreaded "deadly joke" tactics!
Do not read what's on the placard!
They're sooo gamey...
-
To put it simple:
great idea, Rollstoy !
Think about the posibilities:
a nice shot from view 8, with a black&white filter could look like real air recce photos!
Want it!

Ah, I just recalled that I also have a brother.
He is ugly, dumb and I don't like his wife.
So could I please order CMBB right now so I can stand celebrating christmas with the whole family?
Thanks in advance.
And yes, I will also gladly accept the Beta.
Merry Christmas!

Which brings me to another question: Will we, with extreme FOW turned on, still see the "barrel down" whenever a tank gets knocked out?

In "It never snows in September" by R. Kershaw which deals with the Arnheim operation in '44 from the german point of view he gives many examples of 20mm Flak used against the allies with devastating effect.
So yes, 20mm Flak were used in a ground defense role in WW2, but IMO not that much as certain CM players use it.

Beeeeeeep! Wrong. AFAIK CMBB is Combat Mission 2. The current term used for the engine rewrite is CM II.
And yes, I was bored...
