if you know anything about batch files and you have a pc (*.bat) you can do a copy paste so splash1 becomes splash2, etc then at the end splashtemp becomes splash 1 and the .bmp for the actual splashscreen and then run cm. someone set up something like that on their computer.Originally posted by Mies:Keep 'em coming. I like to see a new splash screen every once in a while. Come to think of it I sould have a look into automatically swapping them at randon when starting my PC or somefink!

get the "playable" save game of the scenario and "play" it. it takes crack kubelwagens to beat vet jeeps.

we should all listen to the words of wisdom imparted by a 10-year old:Originally posted by Oddball_E8:dont get me wrong here gents... im not apologizing for being a communist... im apologizing for saying i am while im not really a hard core commie... (and that is what i said i was)

did i mention the 10-year old was on the christmas episode of seinfeld?

lucky you! you're gonna have a lot of fun. make sure to get a few rounds in with the ai then challenge someone in play by email or online. take a glance at my faq too.Originally posted by Wepps:Hello all. Yank here, looking forward to getting into the game.
First off I would like to say this. This was the single easiest installation I ever had to go through! It went where I told it too, and when I went to get the tons of patches I expected... IT TOLD ME I DIDN'T NEED THEM! It actually told me, it didn't beep, let me download it without warning, anything.
Wow, what thought was put into this simple common courtesy, has me excited. I can't wait to see what kind of thought was put into the game!
If other companies would put this kind of thought into the needs of their customers, well, I'll just say...thank you guys for this, others don't realize the inconveniences they have put us through even when I've told them about it.
I grew up in the old days, when we didn't have electric power to play games like this
The old Avalon Hill (and others) stuff was my forte. I generally still attend the convention every year, and play Empires in Arms. I always thought the advent of computer gaming would create a wonderful platform for play. As it turns out it has gotten consistenly worse.
Well, back to the manual. Hoping for the best.
Dangit I bought this to test the playability of it, but If I was aware of the Russia version, I would definitely have done that instead! Oh well, if this is as good as it looks, I'll be ordering it soon
CU out there guys!
Wepps draws a line across the map - "It's Normandy."

it takes a while for the cmbo engineers to toss them. plus you need them to get close. i made a whole scenario out of it.Originally posted by Fredrock1957:Well Thanks for all the great input. Utilizing this info I did some testing.
In CMBB I can blow up the bridges (wood and small stone) with area fire from engineers (average of 4-6 demo charges for wood, 7-10 for stone) I also can place mine fields under the bridge as described and you can cut the demo charges in half.
In CMBO I can place mine fields under the bridge but I cant get my engineers to go after the mine fields or the bridges with demo charges (No area fire for demo charges) but try to send your squad across that bridge and those mines work just fine
Guess I will have to rework my scenario into CMBB.
Thanx for the replies...

hey, neat sky. who's is it?Originally posted by Monty:About your question: No idea, sorry old bean.

btw i found out something interesting: you need a fair number of units alive if you have a lot of bodies around. otherwise the morale is like 11% and the game ends after the first turn.
-
is the upper limit for live units going to limit the number of dead bodies that can be saved on a quick battle map?

she don't eat meat,Originally posted by MikeyD:Hey, it's mid-summer. I'm assuming the fine folks at BFC have been working on their suntans on Mediterranian beaches as a reward for a job well done. Possibly even on N. African Med. beaches!
As an asside, you see on TV President Qadaffi's suddenly trying to make-nice to the U.S.? Do you think this can have anything to do with the upcoming debut of CMAK? I think it does!
but she sure likes the bone.
hurrah!

i remember reading about one guy at normandy bragging to his german prisoners that allied troops were just outside rome, and the germans were surprised, saying they heard on the radio that it had already fallen.Originally posted by JonS:His decision at Rome was particularly reprehensible - would the first troops ashore on D-Day even have heard the news? Even if they had, it's a pretty weak justification - I think an Allied Army Group thrusting into Southern Germany late in '44 would have overall done more for their morale.

while playing a game of galactic civilizations i wondered if cm could benefit if it also used background processing to do some of the ai calculating while a player moved his guys.
there would be some things that a player could change such as hiding squads and the movie making couldn't be pre-made but given how long a player takes to move his guys and how long the ai processes, could it take some time off the wait?

i like my scenariosOriginally posted by Panzer Ace:Just curious as to what you guys think is the best Most intense, nerve wracking down to the wire CMBO Scenario, I tend to find them lopsided either one way or the other. Looking for a good one to keep me on the edge of my seat the whole time
the two best ones are "GO" and "Decision"
go is 7 turns long, and has you rushing your convoy through the streets of some german town filled with crappy german enemies.
decision is a special scenario i made to blow up a bridge after you get all your guys over the bridge to safety but before the germans can cross.
the bridge gets blown using a variety of means but the funnest way is to use engineers to blow it with demo packs. i used enemy minefields on the bridge to give the engineers an incentive to blow it up. so no guys can cross but vehicles can.

can you look at the original cd?Originally posted by EricM:Iknow it has been asked before but can not find a match when I tried searching. Need a list of battles and operations that came with orginal game. I am getting a new computer (hopefully in a month) and rather than downloading all the ones I already got (and some may not be available) I want to copy the battles I have and transfer it when I get my computer.
Thanks.

yeah, after you play ironman you develop a lot of respect for fog of war and the "where the hell is the enemy? where the hell am i?" effect.

interesting! i thought they were quieter, not just different. one eof the m1's nicknames was "whispering death" wasn't it?Originally posted by sGTGoody:Moving away from the technical, some other advantages of the M1's turbine is that it doesn't sound like a tank. Interestingly you can get a sound contact on an M1 when it is further away. Within a couple hundred meters all you hear is a whine and the track squeaking.

did you consider making the camera go to maximum zoom on a 5 or 6 level view instead of black bmps?
or shift camera view down at max zoom on camera 1 to get someone's foot at worst?

i have not been able to play much cm lately. but now that i got some real life things out of the way, i figured i may as well play some of the best scenarios.
so, scenario authors: which scenario that you made do you think is the best, that you're most proud of? or the one you made that is your favorite scenario at least?
