4.
quote:
Originally posted by BDW: I remember when this board was first started up (pre-UltimateBB). It was all about open discussion of the features that were going into the game. Whenever Steve and Charles had the time, they gave us info on new features and tried to answer our questions/fears. I did not envy them - we gave them A LOT of grief! I liked the board back then. Which is why I find Maddmatt's little "teasers" so annoying and unhelpful. To Matt: If you are going to take the time to post, give us some actual information. New information on the game stirs debates and some great ideas come from such debates. I always thought of it as a check and balance on for Steve and Charles, who learned a lot from the debates the first time around - even if they got sucked into defending their positions for days at a time. The cool thing was that they lost some of these arguments and changed some game features based on the posts. These "teaser posts" go against what I thought a big part of Big Time was about: staying in touch with the players. This teaser stuff feels like Big Time is purposefully trying to keep the players out of the loop. This is in stark contrast to the way it used to be in the beginning, and I don't think it is intended. i.e. Matt, in honor of the CMBO development process, if you know what the feature/fix is going to be, then tell us about it! ...please?

didja see the mega bones? lots of new hard info on cmbb

 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Panther G: Ahem. Have you ever played Russelmz's "Decision"? You plant a bunch of AT mines (not daisy-chains) on the center of an open ground square that is to become the bridge. After placing in the preview mode, go back to the map and make the bridge. The way you destroy it is to have a engineer squad run out into the middle of the bridge, find the mines, and destroy the mines (and bridge) with demo charges. Obviously the AI could not do this, but it is better that heavy arty which is not very accurate. It is hard to do under fire also. Regards, Ryan

whoohoo, someone has played my scenario! except one little thing: i planted anti personnel mines and had a sacrifice unit run over them revealing the mines. then the engineers start tossing demo packs to clear the mines. of course you can't have vehicles cross if you use AT mines (only ppl), or have only vehicles cross but not ppl if you use anti-personnel mines. panzer leader has a method he prefers: put a target reference point on a bridge then give a big -ss arty FO four or five rounds. be sure to tell the human player not to use the rounds on the troops but on the bridge.

 8.
quote:
Originally posted by 109 Gustav: If you really like convoying, I recommend Russelmz's Decision scenario. Halftracks, jeeps, and trucks all have to share the same road to move a company as fast as possible. Then there's the monster truck madness scenario. Lots of fun to watch.

i wholeheartedly agree with gustav: deanco's monster truck madness is funny as hell. i had downloaded the save file he did since i am a lazy SOB, so no movement commands just lmao watching the "race". also mentioned by gus is my decision scenario. it's great practice for practicing movement commands: if you don't screw up you can get conscript, reg, vet, and crack vehicles in and out of a town and over a bridge in less than five minutes. another run the hell away scenario is "nachut", where the germans try and run the hell away. fun scenario but there is the truck ai which drives me crazy sometimes cause they are all panicky and don't move where they are supposed to sometimes..

I need help I could spend my life downloading various mods , but has anyone actually grouped all these together in an 'uber' mod pack . I know Madmatt has done some Mod packs but urmmm these are a bit old now ? (no offence meant by this). Or does anyone have a 'must have' list of mods that they could not do without . Anyone?

i think you are talking about bmp 1503. this is also a lo-res grass tile. it looks better if it is a simpler texture, not more complex patterned one IMO. be sure to check out my faq to make sure i got it right!
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Specterx: I usually only buy them when I've got a few extra points to spare and nothing better to do with em. They're actually pretty good as forward scouts or outposts for your MLR. Since it's only one man you can hide them in forests, etc. and the enemy can basically walk right over them without spotting them. Buy them en masse if you want to simulate Civil War combat (why it takes 20 seconds to chamber a round and fire is beyond me). If not, then stay away from them or use one here and there to fill up extra points, as I do. Of course there's always going to be someone who can use his 200 elite sharpshooters to take out the enemy's infantry battalion...

i once did that vs the ai. funny as hell watching an individual ss squad disintegrate from one volley from twenty elite sharpshooters (and that was overkill, i could use five and rout the enemy). anyway sharpshooters should really have a good field of view in a nice hiding place. don't tell him what to shoot at (unless it's an enemy tank you need to button up). each tracer "shot" is actually a full clip. i THINK they can take out more than one guy in that "burst". also they are GREAT at screwing heavy guns over. one shot from them pins a gun, and they often cause guns to be abandoned or their crews killed. so basically use them to see what's happening or button tanks or kill guns.

 18.
quote:
Originally posted by lcm1947: Thanks everyone for the advise and help I really do appreciate it. It seems that the pad will be the first thing I try ( least expensive ) plus just bought one earlier today, but if that doesn't work I'll just stop playing CM. No just kidding about that, but if that doens't work I'll try something else. Oh and by the way Pigg Dog - old fart yourself I'm only 53 years old, well at least for another 16 days. Again thanks to all and the mouse pad does seem to be helping already but think I will also take breaks every hour and do some exercises. No way can I let this stop me from playing the game.

yeah, i use the left hand even tho im right handed too. even out the damage and you should be fine.

Treeburst155 out.

it will be gamey since newbs won't know to hit CTRL-V to turn off vehicles...they won't be able to target it themselves, only the tank hulk!

 22. just for laughs: wait till you get a tank knocked out. if the extreme FOW is on, move a mmg unit to the exact place where the tank is. laugh as your opponent eventually spends the next five minutes firing rounds into the dead tank thinking the mmg fire is coming from a live tank.
