  1. I'll take a number like the rest. I meant to email you back one time for a challenge and never got around to doing it.

Short-75 or Panther-76 rules are okay by me. I'd prefer to do a meeting but suggest the BADCO end game randomizer to prevent flag rushes which we all hate.

Having a 3rd party set it up is fine by me. Lemme know when you have an open slot.

  2. If the prices are changed, then simply take the new price and divide that by 1.37 which will give you the same ratio as the one I posted (or close to it.) 27 is not a magical number but I think it's a good start if we are to assume that the prices will stay the same.

Rarity would take 27 or the new price divided by 1.37 and use that as a basis for the rarity penalty for flamethrowers.

Rarity is another factor that I believe buttresses my notion for a change in price. I believe flamethrowers were orginally overpriced in order to limit their appearance on the battlefield for fear of overuse. With the upcoming rarity penalty, this won't be a problem and flamethrowers can be returned to their normal price with this security in place.

  3. What I wanna know is: Are the prices for flamethrowers going to be changed for CMBB?

37 points is too much for any flame squad!

Seeing how all infantry squads target these teams when they open up to attack, I don't think they will be overpurchased. Besides, it usually takes 2-3 shots from a flamethrower team to rout out an enemy squad, and if you're the Allies, that's half your ammo right there!

Let's say you have an Allied flame team that routs 2 squads with all of its ammo and in turn kills 3 men from those squads either by getting hit from the flame or by the squad getting shot at while being routed out of their position.

At 3 points each, those men equal out to 9 points but we'll say 10 to round off. Those 3 men are also part of 2 squads you routed in the process. I'm not quite sure how to put a price on routing since it matters on how many men were in the squad when you routed them. But since each squad costs around 30 points, why don't we say if you can rout the enemy squad, it's worth 10 points per squad to you which is 1/3 the total cost of the squad. Since you routed 2 squads, that's 20 points.

So, you've gained 20 points for routing and 10 points for killing infantry. That'a a total of 30 points. That's still 7 points lower for what you payed for them. You can argue that I am putting too low a price on routing a squad but you could also argue that they will not rout 2 squads every time with 6 flame bursts. The way I see it, it is much harder to have your flame teams pay dividends as opposed to any other unit in the game...with possible exception to the assault boat. So...

I propose a change to 27 points for all infantry flamethrower teams.

Until we have relative spotting, these teams will always be Public Enemy #1 on the battlefield when it comes to opposing infantry and therefore are not in danger of being overpurchased...especially with the rarity factor coming into play. When players don't use the rarity factor in CMBB, rules can be agreed upon beforehand on max amounts of flame teams, just as guns and such are now before ladder games.

BTS, you are eliminating an entire dimension of play for those of us you only play QB's, and especially ladder players who make use of each and every point. Please reduce the cost of flame teams so players have yet another weapon in their arsonal in what is already a fine game.

  4. I just ran through a turn in which I had a vet 234/1 completely ignore an area fire order I gave it and in addition, ignored multiple targets it had to shoot at for the entire turn. The thing that gets me most was that like I mentioned, this was a veteran unit.

I've had units unhide themselves before and open up to shoot at the enemy but I've never seen a unit that was told to shoot and didn't.

Is this something that's coded into the game? Has anyone else had an experience where your units just refused to fire or carry out your order?

  5. This might have already been asked before but let me throw out the question:

Let's say you want to order an arty barrage on the enemy but the spotter is presently out of LOS. Can you give the order to spot the target when out of LOS, move to the area while the timer is running, and end up with LOS on the target when the arty is to fall--giving yourself the advantage of accuracy now that you're in LOS of said target?

Or do you need to be in LOS when ordering the barrage in the beginning to get the advantage?

  6. Well, apparently it WAS the Vantec fan on my CPU. It runs at 7000rpm so I got rid of it and got me a Volcano 6 or something instead. Much, much quieter. Of course it runs at 4500 or close to that so I'm worried about overheating my board.

The software says it's currently at 107 F. Is that about average? At what temperature do you start to get concerned about your board?

By the way, my system is an AMD 1.33.

  7. To answer your questions:

Yes, I have a scanner hooked up to a USB port. I Defragged last night and ran a Check Disk and that came up empty.

What baffles me is how I can connect to the Internet fine and then 10 minutes later, it slows to a crawl without me doing anything. That seems strange to me. By the way, I can't shut down or restart the computer using the buttons. When I do so, it freezes and all my toolbars disappear leaving a blank screen.

Any ideas on what to do now or am I gonna have to take it into the shop?

  8. Here's what I downloaded. If I did a system restore, would these still be causing a problem afterwards? Lemme know what my next step is.

  9. I had XP running beautifully until the other day when I downloaded some XP Window updates from their site. Since then, my computer will start fine and run fine until it all of a sudden slows down to a crawl.

Applications go so slow and sometimes freeze. The internet also slows down and all of a sudden, I can't access web pages like I could 5 minutes before.

I tried doing a system restore to before I updated XP but that didn't help. I'm totally confused about what's doing this. I ran a virus scan on my computer and it turned up nothing. What could be causing this?

  10. Frankly, I fail to see the advantage in using up armor points on Stuarts. Those HE rounds aren't very effective against infantry. Basically, they just suppress. Now, if it's used in conjunction with another tank, preferably something with a 75 gun, then I gues they might be effective. Alone though, why waste the armor points?

  11. Does anybody use the ASUS Probe software that came with their MB? I have an ASUS AV7133 board and I have just upgraded my Probe software to version 2.10, model S1300A and I need help controlling the fan speed of my computer.

In my manual, it shows that when you go into the "Monitoring" section, there is a button called "Fan Control." Yet, when I go into the program, there is no such button.

Can someone help me find out which software I need to download or whatever so I have this option. I'm going deaf from the whir of this CPU fan.

  12. I've been wondering this for quite some time now. Take your normal reg/vet mix in a QB. It would appear that vets would be preferred when you need men to go over and beyond the call of duty. This might be advancing towards a flank or into any dangerous area where arty or enemy support fire might be present. The regs might panic or break but the vets have a better chance at holding their ground.

Then again, if they get hit by arty or tank fire, you lose expensive men. In addition to this, the 200 bucks you spent upgrading a regular company to a vet company could have been used to buy another regular rifle platoon, 2 zook teams, and 2 medium mg's. It makes you wonder if getting vets is ever worth it. And yet I do it constantly and have never questioned myself afterward because the vets do hold up well under stress.

In all honestly though, I can't figure out if it's worth it to get these seasoned soldiers or not. Anybody got a theory on when's the best time to have these guys in your mix?
