  1. I agree with windopaene but I fear we will never see anymore patches for CMBO. I figure that with CM2 coming out there will probably be things that need patching there and by the time that's done BTS will be busy with CM3. Unfortunately I have no interest in the Eastern Front so I will have to just keep play CMBO till I get old and gray (older and grayer) Eric
  2. Has anyone else downloaded this file? I just opened it and found the first half of inch along the left margine compressed and unreadable. Did anyone else get this or did I just get a corrupt file? Thanks, Eric
  3. I recommend Marine Tank Battles in the Pacific by Gilbert. I know it's PTO but it was very interesting reading with personal and operational accounts. The amazing thing is how fast the repair units could fix a knocked out Sherman. Eric
  4. I would like to know of a good scenario that uses British tanks. I have played two scenarios that came with CMBO (the one where the Polish armor meets the 2 SS and the British advance on D+1 towards Caen) both of these uses Shermans. I only download scenarios I think will be interesting or fun for me. So what is a good scenario that uses Churchills, Cromwells and etc. Eric
  5. With TGN Scenario depot gone, where can we get some of those scenarios now? I know CMHQ has a 4 meg download of a bunch but I would like to pick and chose the ones I want. Also what is your favorite site for scenario downloads? Eric
  6. Did a quick search and did not find this question. As far as I have researched there never was a Sherman Croc, there were Sherman flame tanks but none that towed a trailer. Also I have never read about the Sherman flametanks being used in the ETO. Now my question is with CMBO such a great historical game why did BTS add a vehicle that did not exist or serve in the ETO? Don't get me wrong, I love it when I can flame something. If I am wrong could someone point me to a book that shows the US used flame tanks in the ETO. Eric
  7. Aww, screwed. My old eyes must have failed me when I clicked on the page. 45 til aug. 6355 total 183 post 34.72 average
  8. I am thinking about trying to design a scenario about an assault by US on the German's Westwall. Now my idea is to have numerous pillboxes that the US must get by but there are not enough German troops to man all the pillboxes. How would you place a pillbox without troops and if you rushed German troops to the pillbox would they automaticly man the pillbox? Thanks fot the help, Eric
  9. When you finally get a clear shot, you forget the safety
  10. Just finished reading Lorraine 1944 from the Osprey Campaign series. In it the author states it was common pratice in the 4th Armor Div. to be loaded with a smoke round as they entered battle if they might encounter tanks. When they encountered tanks they fired the smoke round at them. Due to the inexperience of the German crews some would think they were hit and abandone the vehicle, if not the US tank had a opertunity to move before the German could target them. Now how would you attempt to duplicate this tactic in CMBO? Eric
  11. I can see it now when you play a PBEM or internet game. You order a gas attack and your opponet has to eat a can of beans and wait a few hours before he can plan his orders to get the real effect. Could be real interesting. Eric
  12. I started when I was around 17 or 18 going with a friend to a hobby store that was mainly for wargaming and watching the big battles that they did with 25mm figures. Then along came War Games Research Group rules for Armour & Infantry 1925-1950 for micro armor. Had a whole bunch of US stuff but then the store went out of bussiness and could never find people to play so sold it off. Never really got into board games though.
  13. So far I think I got you all beat. I'm 45 and read every GI Combat, Sgt. Fury, Sgt. Rock, Enemy Ace that I could get my hands on when I was a kid. Thought about buying some old issues when I took my kid to a comic book show but $15 for a nice issue, I don't think so. Eric
  14. Actually I've played it about 4 times, lost everytime. Then went and played other scenarios and have just come back and lost 2 more times. I just seem to have problem with assualt or attack scenarios. Eric
  15. Not asking for a spoiler, just would like to know if anyone has had luck beating this scenario as allies with default set up? I've tried different approaches and never seem to get anywhere. Eric
  16. Without a photo it's hard to tell but I believe only the Sherman I had the narrow gun mantlet. Is the photo in a book that I could take a look at? As to what the British version of the of naming shermans I will have to check my references. Eric
  17. OK I am mainly a armor modeler that dabbles in playing CMBO. If you haven't built kits before or it has been awhile I would highly recommend starting with a Tamiya kit. Most are well designed and easy to build. DML are nice but use link to link tracks which are not easy to build. As far as on-line hobby stores try: www.greatmodels.com www. squadron.com (if you know what you're looking for) Also try Tony Matteliano's Scale Model Index at www.buffnet/~tonym/models.htm Also Track-link is an armor modeler site with a good newsgroup www.track-link.net Hope this helps, Eric
  18. I don't know about the M8 but I know that the M5 was effective in the pacific using canister rounds. I don't know if canister is provided in CM or if it was even supplied to crews in the ETO. Eric
  19. I also got the disk for SPWaW and loaded right away. Unfortunately I just could not get into the game (though I loved playing pacific theater games in SP1). I think there were 2 reasons I quit playing. 1-they did not fix the speed issue with the disc version. What I mean is when I moved a unit it moved at warp speed and trying to figure out what was being reported on hits was impossible to follow. 2-after playing CM with the we-go system I found I was playing the game in a very gamey way (no fun). Eric
  20. I've been trying to download some scenarios today on CMHQ site but I keep getting a "couldn't connect to db." message . Anyone else having this problem? Thanks,
  21. To start off I have not yet downloaded 1.1 due to no time. But I have 3 questions: 1. Outside of the internet play patch and the hull rotation thing, that everyone seems to be discussing, what does 1.1 fix or improve? 2. I have no problem running 1.05 now and plan to load 1.1. If my computer does have a problem can I reload the 1.05 patch till I resolve my computer problem? 3. OK this involve the hull rotation thing. Just curious, if (hypothetically) I encounter a lone German tank and send 2 tanks to the left and 2 to the right to try and flank the beast, will the tanks stop the move and rotate to face the tank or would they continue to move around it's flank? Thanks, Eric
  22. Did a quick search and did not find an answer to this question. When is v 1.1 planning to be available? I know if I wanted to I could load the beta but my computer is acting up so I don't really want to do that. Thanks. Eric
  23. Napoleon 1944 Tried to find your scenario at the gamers net but could not locate it. When I click on the site you posted in the one before last it sends me to a page with different games mentioned. Clicked on the one for CMBO and it sends me to CMBOHQ. I could not find your scenario there. Any ideas or am I going to the wrong site?
  24. Great ! Where are you planning to post it?
