  1. Strategic command works under linux and is fully playable (at least the demo is), I am using RedHat 7.3 and winex from transgaming.com. Only problem is that the game crashes sometimes when opening windows too quickly. btw the game looks really good!
  2. Yeah, a really clever dog would only blow himself up under german tanks
  3. Thanks for the replies! But, because I am a junior member, I am supposed to ask: I still can't see a reason why not to use "my" system? If one can cheat half of the turns, that is enough. (the only system that I see as a secure one, is that both players send their movies to a dedicated server) Sorry if this seems like a start for a flame war, which is not my intention. And sorry for my poor english.
  4. jshandorf: You wouldn't be able to watch the movie you make, as it is now chrisl: Yeah, I know. Half cheating doesn't count But if you could hack the code, why couldn't you hack it also so, that you could bypass the password check, and so you could cheat a lot, which would result in the legendary die-a-lot situation...
  5. Could someone give me a more specific answer why this wouldn't work? In the system I suggested B has both orders and makes the movie (but doesn't play it jet, no way to cheat). Then A watches the movie, which isn't made by player A, so he can't cheat. And if B could play the movie from A's file (and so he could make the movie and turns as many times as he wants), why couldn't he do so also now? I don't get it... I must be missing some point here, because if this system would work, it surely would be used... But I want to know what is the point I am missing. Is there a thread in which this has been talked earlier?
  6. Turn1: Player A and player B gives orders. B makes the movie of turn 1 Turn2: Player A watches the movie of turn1, and gives orders, then player B watches the movie for turn 1 and gives orders, and makes the movie. Turn3: ... I don't know if I am stupid or something, but wouldn't this work? Reducing the posts per turn to 2. And if I am proved stupid, don't make this a dedicated-for-me cesspool...
  7. Could someone tell me which file I need to replace to get the original main screen back? I love everything else in this mod pack!
  8. While reading the posts on this forum, I have figured out that no reason is stupid enough to love this game, and no reason is good enough to hate this game
  9. Anssi.Kaariainen@kolumbus.fi, I prefer playing germans, and I like to play 2+ turns per day. For that reason, I would prefer to have opponents from gmt +/-2 timezones.
  10. Well, I am not a programmer, but it has to be quite easy to develop this kind of solution: The engine does a autosave of each movie (like a pbem file) then it just loads automatically them one after one, so you would have the full movie in 60 second pieces. I dont know if that kind of full movie would be of any use afterall, and surely it would require huge amounts of disk space... And this would be a not-so-good solution, and those do not belong to CM
  11. I don't know why the flags have to be either owned by one of the sides, or not owned at all, it might be better for the gameplay that the situation "not owned at all" would be changed to owned 25% axis, 75% allied for example (the flag could be partly colored to the side owning that part) Sorry for my bad english, but I hope my point can be understood.
  12. It gives AI more experienced troops so it does all of the things you listed. Hope I am correct with this...
  13. I think they are planning to send some gerbils to USA
  14. The best way to find out is to test this with hotseat game.
  15. "The game maker's stress they wanted good "game play" over realism" Hmm, why didn't they do it like CM: good gameplay with realism
