    Hmmm,

I may be wrong but along time ago I seem to remember BTS saying that the CM games would be kept up to date. ie. that CM1 would be updated to CM2 after CM2 was released etc. I could be wrong or this could have changed but I would certainly like BTS to chime in on this one.

Going by what BTS has stated in the past, the final CM patch has been done. I recall a tread from last summer or fall saying CMBO maybe redone once East Front, Mediteranean, N. Africa, and the Early years were out. Naturally all that could be subject to change. If someone can recall ( or find) that thread I am interesting in re-reading it.

It sounds like alot of people are having a bad hair day. Everyone seems to be speaking for other people. I can forsee this thread being locked soon before the flame heats up.

I usually don't defend people, but given the fact that James Crowley has posted only 4 times, I think he is intitled to ask questions or offer his feedback to BTS.It says on the main page "Also make sure to stop by the Discussion Forums and talk with our Developers about their games!" Just because its been discussed, or WE have seen it before, its still new to him.

Lets be nice to the newbie's for once.

  3. I don't know what kind of Navy they have, I would assume a country that size doesn't have a carrier, but I could be wrong.

I always held the notion that air power was the 1st line of defense. With no air, thrn what good does it do keeping an army and navy?

If hostilities did ever break out over there, I think all the politians would be running to change their underware. :D

  4. I have seen posts on this subject for the 7 months I have been reading this forum. I am glad it keeps coming up. I am in favor of promotions in the game. With CM2 being on a much larger front and over a much larger time period,it would seem a good idea to implement. It would only be feasible in a linked campaign or a quick battle campaign.

I don't see why this can't (or won't) be done by BTS. After a QB a new battle could be generated based on the size of your force. An example would be something like this. Both sides begin the 1st battle with 2000 points, if you lose 1000 points maybe the computer would only have 1500 points. That system would give you atleast a fighting chance while encouraging you to keep your force's alive.

I know its just a fantasy of mine, and I hate to say this ( I really do), but maybe a CM clone such as GI Combat will incorperate a feature like this.

  5. There will be improved graphics. All games improve graphicly every year, and CM2 will be no exception.

Some of you have suggested that the current engine would work fine, well it won't IMO. How could you recreate Stallingrad with the current engine? BTS has already stated that they have to rework how combat in buildings will be simulated. Currently you can't have platoons fighting inside a building. I am also going to assume that interior walls and cover will be depicted in the game. That alone would have to increase what is required to run the game.

As gamers we just have to accept that we need to upgrade pieces of our machines yearly, or every other year at the least. By the time CM2 comes out we'll be looking at 1½ years since CM, so why stick with an old engine?

  6. I really like this idea. There are some that would be horrified to do this, but it really happened. I would have to admit that it may be difficult to impliment in a game. What kind of points would you give the unit? Lots a play balance issue's here, but I would like to see it done.

I guess the best way to balance them would be to have near by Russian units open fire on the constripts when they flee. That way they would be a hinderance to the Russians as well as the Germans.
