  1. This is a common occuring theme, where nowdays a game is judged on its graphics, the better, the higher rating, and on whether it is a multi-player game or not. These 2 points didn't stop Diablo2 from having some reviewers peeing in there pants with love for this game, with outdated graphics and very bad internet play. I rarely trust reviews because of so many built in bias, and subjective feelings. That seems to be the case here. As for e-mailing him, why not, thats why his addy is displayed, if we don't fight for what we believe in, what do we fight for? I think his ego needs to be knocked down a tick. And oh, he is so wrong about this game. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  2. PzKpfw 1 I see you are a Baldurs Gate and Minsc fan, and of course Boo the space hamster. If we had Minsc and Boo during WW2 he'd make quick work of it. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  3. Disaster, started your bridge map cochon last night, excellant work. Have you submitted it to the 3rd party scenerios section at TGN Mission HQ? To the rest of you with bridge missions, I for sure will get ahold of you for yours. This game is unbelieveable, I get so tense after issuing orders and waiting for the 60 second play back, sometimes the longest 60 seconds there is. What a blast. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  4. I sure would like this also, I hate it when Taps is played when I win, don't know why this is like it is. There should be a festive type sound when you win. I got the "quiet exit" DL, but it is still way too loud. Thanks Alot ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  5. I will just say that I enjoyed the movie very much. I rarely if ever expect a movie to be based 100% in fact, it is after all a movie, not the tv series "world at war". If anything the movie did what few movies have done, it raised the whole WW2 issue and the insane lack of a WW2 veterans memorial. I commend Tom Hanks and the work he is doing to get a WW2 memorial built in DC. Why one hasn't been built before this is to me, a disgrace. My father, like many others fathers fought in this war, and deserve at the very least a memorial for the duty they did for their country. If any movie no matter how un-real it is, can raise the consciousness, for a good cause such as this, then I am all for it. It brought to many people the horrors of real combat,on a scale that has not been done before. It also maybe made some people appreciate the sarifice, made by all the soldiers and civilians who took part in this epic war. PS, my mother was a "Rosie the riveter" while my father was in north Africa and Northern Italy. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  6. Thanks all I will get your "bridge" missions soon, wish I was smart rnough to make my own missions. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  7. Disaster, thanks I dl'd the bridge mission, will play it tonight, good work. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  8. I'am real happy, have been wondering when someone would do the allied tanks. Great job, when will they be ready to dl? ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  9. I have been playing tons of random maps and have yet to see any bridges. I think it would be great to have a "water" option in the quick battle maps. That way you could have bridges, which would add a whole to strategic element to the game. Just a thought for future game or x-pack. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  10. I go to bed with my ears ringing of gun fire and explosions, reminds me of my service days. The best sound effects I have heard in any game, period. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  11. Just about every game I have won, I did by flanking the AI. A couple times I surrounded him, and he didn't react. A few times when I flanked he sent a few troops over my way, but by that time it was too late. Still all and and all, a good Ai considering all the different moves and weapons in this game. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-

  13. I have mainly played RTS games, and some Turn-based strategy. Also have played most of the genres, rpg, fps. I am playing CM mostly also Diablo2,got to have alittle one against many hand to hand killing. Am also playing Warlords Battlecry, and finally am going to start Civ2, hopefully. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  14. I guess I'am not suprised to see so many vets, given the forum title. Lots of diversity here. I certainly miss nothing about my 3 years in. I guess though that there is always some good in the bad, the friends you make, and sometimes lose, and the closeness of your squad members. To all the civilians, you didn't miss much. Hell, I went in when I was 16, enlisted, I wanted to be a paratrooper in the 101st like my favorite uncle was in WW2. As a kid all of us in the neighborhood would play army, all the time, I'd take my dads medals and show them off. I probally might have stayed in and been a lifer, but it wasn't the best time, with nam' going on. Anyway thanks for replies. Hey LEBO, get back over to Gone Gold. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  15. I was in US Army 1966-69, 101st Airborne, and some time in 82nd AB. Glad to be out. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  16. There are some mods to the graphics, mainly trees and grass. There is the hi-resolution grass mod The "plush" grass and tree mod. There is also a winter-snow graphic mod. I personally use the high-res mod and the winter one. Also there is a flag mod, which I got. All depends on your tastes, there are pictures showing what they look like, very great work. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  17. Some good points on what a wargame actually is, being new to this genre, I wondered. Like was said, once played this game sells itself. I am on the Gone Gold forum, and a guy there kept talking about a new game called Combat Mission, I said, I really don't play wargames, he said picture a WW2 TB type strategy, tactical game in 3D, I said, where's the demo. Nwxt day I ordered the game. It seems now days that the line is blurring in osme genres. You see RTS combined with RPG elemnets, RTS games without the usual base building, and even RPG's with rts elements. Perhaps CM is a wargame/tbs with tactical warfare at its core. I think a game can be both tactical and a strategy game. This by far is the best game that I have played as compared to any RTS or TBS games. I hope everyone such as myself, take the plunge into "wargames" and gets this excellant game, forget the labels and genre, a great game knows no boundries. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  18. Before you all shoot me, let me make a few points. This is the first "wargame" that I have played, and I wonder why it is labeled a wargame vrs a TB Strategy game. I know that the subject matter is realistic war, but wouldn't the game appeal to even a broader group of gamers, if it was sold and reviewed as a tb strategy game? I have told alot of people about this game, and alot of they say, well I'am not into wargames, then I try to explain that although it is technicaly a wargame, to me it is like a turn-based strategy game, then they say "yea I might check that out". Many have the idea that a wargame is a electronic boardgame with hexes and stale gameplay. I know alot of you love this type of game, and I am in no way saying anything is wrong with that. But CM, presents a more mainstream game that will attract gamers like myself who always wanted a strategy game about WW2, instead of a alien, or fantasy game world. I think that this game will attract many like myself who love tb strategy, but have not been interested in the standard "wargame" of past. It benefits everyone the more this game sells and the broader audience it appeals to. With so many samller game developers going under the few remaining need all the support they can get. It seems Big Time Software has hit the jackpot, and it couldn't have happened to a better group of people. Just some thoughts and feedback from other gamers I know, and who have ended up buying CM once I explained what it is about. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  19. There are tons of games out with great eye candy and dull game play. CM has suitable graphics and outstanding gameplay. Between the 2 I'll take the game play any day. There's a saying that after 3hours into a game, most players forget the graphics and concentrate on the game play. If the game is based mainly on its appearance, then it will fail to hold your interest. I know that as I play more and more I hardly notice the quality of the graphics, only as to how they help the game play. The great sound fx more than makes up for any super graphic enhancements. I think the gaming industry as a whole has got way too caught up in a games appearance and less in its other areas, such as sound fx, interface, and the all important gameplay. Sure I would like to see better graphics, but not at the expense of any of the great parts of this game. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  20. I tend to agree with David Aitken, about the rubble being a excellant place to shell after the building is down. It is easy to assume that with troops in the building that when your tank takes the building down, the enemy goes with it. Rubble makes a great hiding, sniping place for that fact. A tank will fail to continue shelling, meanwhile the enemy has a bead on your Co's head. Last night in a skrimish game, my Sherman kept shelling the rubble after the building had went down. Knowing he was smarter than me, I checked, sure enough, 3 troops where pinned in the rubble, one a Arty spotter. I can see where being able like in some RTS games, that you can target non-enemy units and landscape. Cave in a cliff on troops, blow out a bridge, blow a building, to block enemy armor movement at critical area. It would be nice to have this option. Still one of the best games I have played in a long time. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  21. If ever a game deserved the recognition and reviews this is it. Congrats on a job well done. I have been "pushing" your game over at "Gone Gold" site. Keep up the great work! ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  22. I was looking at the map grid mods and wonder if everyone uses them? It really looks like they would help with the elevation, that one of my big problems, used to 2D maps. Thanks ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  23. Thanks for help I screwed up moving the patch exe file to replace the old exe file, it works fine now. Stupid me. ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  24. No, the scenario folder is still there with all the scenarios in it, just aren't on the load screen. Thanks ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
  25. Sorry this is off your post topic, but please read my post "important question. Thank You ------------------ -kill 'em all and let God sort them out-
