  1. In the full game, no, that would be the first thing I'd go for. But remember, the other side probably will be doing the same.

  3. Perhaps because people are not looking at the whole picture. Cruisers and Destroyers don't get counted as Capital ships. "During the war the Germans sank 5,150 allied ships displacing 21.57 million tons. Of this, the U-boats were responsible for 2828 ships of 14.69 million tons. To place this in perspective, the Germans sank the equivalent of the entire British merchant fleet at the start of the war. Additionally, submarines destroyed 187 warships, including 6 aircraft carriers and 2 battleships." Or looking in the wrong ocean. "The Japanese Merchant Marine lost 8.1 million tons of vessels during the war, with submarines accounting for 4.9 million tons (60%) of the losses. Additionally, U.S. submarines sank 700,000 tons of naval ships (about 30% of the total lost) including 8 aircraft carriers, 1 battleship and 11 cruisers." I agree with you here, but at this map size and hex scale what can you do? Besides, the Germans put an air fleet in Norway. You should try the same. "However, this tremendous destruction came at a heavy price: the Germans lost 785 submarines of 1,158 constructed." "Of the total 288 U.S. submarines deployed throughout the war (including in the Atlantic), 52 submarines were lost with 48 destroyed in the war zones of the Pacific. American submariners suffered the highest loss rate in the U.S. Armed Forces, with 22% killed. Of note, the personnel of the U.S. Submarine Force comprised only 1.6% of the American Navy." The doctrine wasn't to go for Capital ships anyway. It was to go for the Transports. I'm going to wait for the full version to see how it all balances out. The quotes were taken from here. 4. The point is then you could ignore England, keep them weak, and go after Russia sooner instead.
  5. <font color="#ffff00">Like this, you mean? A little bile in the morning?</font> <font color="#CDCD00">Wait, that's not quite right. Maybe something a little more sickly... Yes, yes that's it. Just enough to tip you over that horrible edge from "whoa, that's a nasty color, I almost lost my breakfast" to "stand back, it's gonna be a sprayer"</font></font>
  6. Can't do that as its related to the link and visited link colors and switching them would mess up other stuff I believe. Madmatt</font>
  7. Anyone have an idea of how large a garrison you need to keep partisans from popping up? Does a garrison lessen the chance at all?
  8. Have any evidence for this? I always thought Hitler would have been quite happy to have peace with the British. And Hitler could have done Sealion if he wished to. Not because he couldn't. Didn't want to pay the price. Decided to to go to Moscow and fight his real ideological enemy instead.
  9. I'll throw out a tweak for discussion. How about doubling the cost of transport that is allowed to land at a non-port destination. The current Transport choice would become Transport (Port) and a new choice, at double the cost, would be Transport (Any). Any salutes? </font>
  10. Whoops, just noticed its the other way around. Perhaps the threads that already have been hit should go to the darker color?
  11. Looks great now Madmatt. Thanks for all the hard work. Is it possible to change the posted date, profile stuff and lines in the individual posts to some other color than white? Perhaps a darker gold might go nice with the khaki? Sitting in the dark here working on CAD stuff. All black background with greens, yellows, red, and cyans is what is easiest for the eyes. Anything in white really jumps out at you (which is why you only use it for stuff that MUST be noticed). I like the white for threads and links that I haven't seen yet. I can turn those to a different color by clicking on all of them
  12. Wolfpack, I tried your strategy tonight and it worked like a charm. I usually go for long range fighters on the second turn. After getting Long Range Level 3 and five airfleets daring the Brits to come out fight I had no problem running the Channel. Destroyed the RAF if the navy didn’t want to play that turn, and if they did, so much the better. Three subs under aircover gave the Brits fits. Was really tempted to turn back from Yugoslavia and give Sealion a stab, but I wanted the points to build more subs. I would totally agree it’s mostly a time issue. Now if only the demo went another turn…
  13. Learn something new every day. Thanks Madmatt. The contrast is a bit much with the white text. Just wait till the conspiracy theorist get here about the Allied color scheme.
  14. Oh, I don't know Shaw. Black with two shades of fecal brown is kinda nice. Think of it as a homage to the Pool. Now if we could just get them to change the type to yellow, it would be perfect.
  15. Turrets don't jam. Since you probably kept him buttoned up with all the arty, he never spotted anyone who wasn't right in front of him. So he never moved the turret. Until you came along and gave him something to do.
  16. Makes you wonder what they expected. Hmm, let's see, a strategic level game of WWII in Europe. What would that look like?
  17. And the fact that as Germans you don't have to worry about defending southern France or Morocco and Algiers. Let the Allies take the political hit. Which brings up the question of what is the downside for the Allies to Operation Torch or Dragoon? Anything? Do the Vichy French units and MPP's return to German control?
  18. You do have to control Gibralter to move surface units past, but the Italian sub can get through. Copenhagen isn't exactly fortified. Just put a cruiser in the Skagarak to do the same.
  19. We actually prefer it when you do your business out there. Ah! An incentive plan! I like it! True, true. There just isn't enough of me to go around. I feel sorry for the poor girls at times. What can I do? I'm only one man. But I'm thinking of having myself cloned to ease their distress. Glad to see you have a grasp of the concept (or any concept for that matter). Now, why don't you act upon it and go to "all stop". And why you're at it, take note of this. " ". That's called the "space bar" key. There's one on your keyboard (Hint: It's the big one). Go fix your handle. It'll be even funnier when you learn to quit moving your lips while reading. And don't shift, dang it, don't shift. Wow, I didn't even know you could double-clutch a keyboard. Unless you meant "The Funniest Thing I Have Ever Read". See what kind of fun you can have when you learn to type too? So sad. Obviously you're suffering from "short man syndrome". But if you're going to walk under the Big Dog, don't be surprised if it starts raining. Oh, and don't look up either, you slack-jawed yokel.
  20. Its gotta be.. Springtime for Hitler Germany was having trouble, what a sad, sad story Needed a new leader to restore its former glory Where, Oh where was he? Where could that man be? We looked around and then we found The man for you and me. And now it's.. Springtime for Hitler and Germany Deutschland is happy and gay We're marching to a faster pace Look out, here comes the master race Springtime for Hitler and Germany Winter for Poland and France Springtime for Hitler and Germany Come on, Germans, go into your dance I was born in Dusseldorf, and that is why they call me Rolf Don't be stupid, be a smarty, come and join the Nazi party Springtime for Hitler and Germany Goosestep's the new step today bombs falling from the skies again Deutschland is on the rise again Springtime for Hitler and Germany Uboats are sailing once more Springtime for Hitler and Germany Means that soon we'll be going We've got to be going You know we'll be going to WAR!
  21. I'm going to pass this one up just for you, Capt. But please note, he's so excited he's stuttering.
  22. Perhaps if you greatly reduced/eliminated the "Surprise Encounter" damage to subs when they blunder into a battleship/cruiser unit. I don't know how many times I've lost a 3 strength sub when he wanders into something. I mean really. I would have had the lookouts, sonar operator and navigator shot before the destroyer could drop the first can. I know that subs can be surprised , but more often that not the decision to give battle was up to the sub commander. Especially at this scale. They should at least be able to limp home for repairs. Maybe keep it for Carriers reflect air cover. Or better yet, give the sub a pop-up asking if he wishes to attack or, if he has enough movement points, attempt to move out of spotting range..
  23. He shoots, he scores! Nice to see I got under your skin with that one, really makes my day. Notice I didn't mention your father (after all, the birth certificate didn't). Good work on the [censored] thing. You don't need to spell it out for us. We all have been remiss in letting the stray F'enhiemer slip (Seanachai, edit your post), but it lacks wit, style, and panache, which is what we aim for here. A true professional has no reason to work blue. No need to use profanity to be profane. See? Piece of Cake.
