Will BF.C have a ladder and ranking service where match-ups are organised? Would it be seperated by XP classes, or a free-for-all format? Or will it be up to the players to connect IP-to-IP and then report their results? Lastly, will there be the possibility of having Operations to sign up for? Something like you join whatever Country your pilot is from and then are randomly matched up against an opponent -- add some uncertainty to the fights like that? Sorry for all the questions, but I just found out about this game and it looks great (and I didn't see this info on the official page -- sorry if I just missed it there).

On the subject of nationalities; I think an expansion to the Eastern front would be cool, once the initial game is shipped. And as this is my first post here; thank you for making this game. I have always ben a fan of BF.C games and this looks to continue the history of excelence. If only I'd heard about it before the AAR that www.thewargamer.com just put up.

Do the Faithful not Get the Bonus CD Content?
Brethon replied to Brethon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Okay, thanks. -
Xerxes, have you reached the part about fanatics? I'm thinking this may be what is happening, you don't state how many squads would do it each time, though.
-
yobobo, what has gotten you so rilled? Everyone has their own opinion, and it seems to be that Mr-Johnson thinks that TH players use more game tactics than military tactics. It's his opinion so what? Although, I do have to question you as to why you have to post under a different name?

Odds of airplanes showing up?
Brethon replied to Aacooper's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
You don't have control over the planes. You can't tell them where to target. Planes will only show up in clear weather (RARELY in overcast), and target independantly. They may also not come due to mechanical problems back at base. Not sure what the chance of them not taking-off is though. ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire. -
Or you could say that the movie is about Operation Market Garden, as is the operation. ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire.

21st Panzer attacks- A small but very good operation
Brethon replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I just got this one off of Combat Missions ( www.combat-missions.com ) and haven't played it yet. Looks good though! ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire. -
Sounds like all I can do, eh? Thanks for your time, I'll let you know if it works. ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire.

Yes, I am on a PC. When I try to open it, nothing happens. It's just like I didn't try to open it. Y'know, Name:Untitled etc. The map is blank, there are no units selected. And nope, there's nothing different with the scenerio names. This is why it has me oh-so-confused. ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire.

I need some help. I was working on my first CM battle, when it disapeared, so to speak. I have been working on it, saving it normally, playing it, tweaking it, saving it, playing it, etc. Now, all of the sudden I can't open it. In fact, I can't open any scenerios in the editor. It's listed in the window to open .cmb's, but it's no longer listed in the scenerio list. I know I didn't Tournament save it, and I defenitely didn't delete it. Is there something I might have done to destroy it? I always started a new game after tweaking it. This is really important to me, it's my first scenerio, I've put quite a bit of work into it. If there's anything to help me, please tell. ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire.

WOW! Plus, need book and movie suggestions
Brethon replied to Mr. Clark's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Walter, you forgot about a very good book (though no movie version). Called Ortona. You can guess what battle it's about. I'm hopefully getting it for my B-day, and greatly anticipating it. After all, the battle was nicknamed "Canada's stalingrad".. heard nothing but good about this book, but i suggest you look around about it before buying ) ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire. -
Wild Bill Wilder in PC Gamer magazine
Brethon replied to The Commissar's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
If you look at Trotters review of CM, you will note that he stated there being no multiplay. I wrote him an E-mail regarding this and a couple other complaints regarding the CM review...he explained it to me, but I was kinda hoping he would sorta state his mistakes in his column....keep from people not buying CM thinking it's single player only....I still like him though...one of the best left on the staff after Whitta and that Dean guy left.... ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire. -
Kestrl, I like most of them, but a couple look like they got snowed on...But that wouldn't keep me from snatching them up right now ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire.

I'm new to wargaming, will I understand this game?
Brethon replied to Jsoh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
With 1185 posts on that thread, I doubt it will be easy for him to get an answer. Jsoh, let me say this. The only past experience I had with wargames was a couple of Close Combat demos. And I have grasped the game by the gonads. it's done in an amazing way so that it's realistic, yet easily accessible to the likes of you and me. But if you're in doubt, get the demo and try it, it's great fun. ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire. -
BTS: Armored Car Drivers......Why?
Brethon replied to Teamski's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Maybe so that you know your driver is there (because they can get shot). or maybe the driver had his hatch open for a better FOV? just my couple cents. ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire. -
Any Canadians who own CM?
Brethon replied to Suicides-by-Steve's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Tailz, don't feel bad, I STILL don't have it! But that should be rectified soon enough ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire. -
Good bye and good luck...
Brethon replied to Kevin Peltz's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
At first i didn't know why he was eaving, but reading some of these responses it becomes easy to tell...
quote:
Could it be I detect a little "I was here first" elistism?

Sigh...even if he was here first, doesn't that just mean that he would know more about the dirrection this forum has gone in? Kevin, I never knew ya and I'm sorry about that. Guess I just wasn't around long enough. ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire. -
Well, I can post their 'Final verdict' portion. they list the % they give it, a few PROs, a few CONs, and a bottom line. Would that help? ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire.

What kind of challenge are you expecting in a PBEM if you ask people on the forums for tactical descisions? ------------------ The worst part of any conflict is peacekeeping, it is the time when only one side may fire. -
Wargasm:Noun[?], A state of affairs in which the competing world powers of the world have gone full out, releasing everything military at their opponents, resulting in a massive global conflict in which no super-power will stop.....
