Are you guys cutting up? Hmmm lets see a humongous King Tiger versus a Stuart with a 37mm main gun and tin foil for armor...granted there would be some wreckage left but the King Tigers 88mm gun would definitely wreck a Stuarts day (not to mention that of the Stuarts crew). Dont get me wrong Im not ragging Stuarts,,,its my favorite WW II tank, but remember its a LIGHT TANK, and was originally used for recon. Thanks for letting me put my two cents in.

EGAD!!!! CM Rocks, I had high hopes for Sudden Strike until; they missed their first deadline for shipping which was I think back in May or June, and the fact the EIDOS is the publisher,,,sorry guys but I have yet to buy an EIDOS game that didnt either just go back to the store or relegated to the pile of games that are played no more. I think Sudden Strike was an awesome idea,,,

Folks, Im thinking that by and large were all pretty good people here. Sure in every crowd there are some dilrods and punks. If those folks upset you, ignore them or dont PBEM with them anymore. Sounds simple but Im hoping that BTS cranks out the next iteration of CM asap, we can self police ourselves dont you think?

I want to add my prayers for the crew of the Kursk, even though for many years I served on the west side of the Iron Curtain, servicemen (and women!) are all patriots.

Lets hope BTS keep kickin ass in the sales department, cause I sure as hades want to be play CM2!! Even the BTS guys need to make a buck...if for nothing else than to buy more K Rations,,, KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!

Airborne, Heh Heh sorry man, you paratrooper types are usually too smart to be a loader anyway,,,,hmmmm how about being a gunner? The smiles are cool though huh? My two bits; 1. Tank and AFV crews were armed with the good ol' M-1911A1 pistol and the "might as well throw the gun at em and keep the bullets for the pistol" M-3 submachine gun or grease gun,,,so their offensive fire power is kind of limited although they were trained to recover the machine guns if possible 2. Gamey or not, and if any of you ever fight a PBEM battle with me, I wont throw up a fuss, I would say what the hell use the crews as infantry if it comes down to that. When I was in the cavalry we always used to say: Hmmmm that grunt looks smart and we need a new loader,,, no offense to the infantrymen in the crowd.

Has to agree with Andreas about surrendering during PBEM. However, if given the option,,,I would prefer to stand and fight to the death,,,

FOR CM2: Just for the fun of it: Have to go with the tossing in of cavalry wouldnt that be a blast? If they throw in Finns gotta support the ski troop idea too. And as for the communications between soviet tanks,,,I think they were STILL using flags in the 70s and 80s cant have the boys learning too much about the mission ya know,,, OH HELL HOW COULD I FORGET THIS? Throw in the fact that a LOT of german artillery was horse drawn,,,blew me away when I saw it on the History channel,,,and those dudes invented the blitzkrieg,,,or did they steal the idea from Genghis Khan? And model the uses of horses; march times, limbering up, not wanting to be accused of being too much of a sick bastard here, but how do you save your guns when your horses are dead?

Hmmmm Steel Panthers 1 & 2, the Close Combat Series, Hadnt heard anyone mention Laser Squad for a long time!!! (I still have my copy), Total Annihilation and its sequels (we play it after hours at the office on the LAN), Halflife for sure, Delta Force, and Unreal. Am looking forward to goofing around with Sudden Strike, unless EIDOS guts it. Am hoping that MicroSoft dosent screw us PC types over by only publishing Halo for the X-Box. For creation of a game that has ignited the imagination and enthusiasm of hundreds (thousands?) of WW II buffs BTS is hereby awarded the Distinguished Developers Cross. WAY TO KICK ASS YOU GUYS! Guys, Ive had a pretty easy time of rotating or moving artillery with WHEELED carriages. I could be wrong but werent most of the 88 mounted on a fixed type of carriage, which required a seperate set of wheeled caissons? Not to mention the HT needed to move the thing? The inability of the crew to move the 88 without limbering up could be BTS's way to show the most common picture of how this weapon was used?

Dammit!!! Wheres my flamethrower and wheres Chupacabra? Crap sounds damn near like Hammers Slammers,,,praise be to David Drake. Im thinking that youre always gonna have to have a combined arms gig. Ya need the crunchies (infantry) to track down those RPG armed farmers that make a tankers life tough...and lots of arty...have met a lot of cannon-cockers in my lifetime...have only really liked two of em...but then ya always take care of your Fire Support Officer.

41 and trying to balance, wife, girl watching, nephew raising with CM and CM is WINNING,,,hmmm wonder when the divorce papers are gonna arrive,,,,hopefully before CM2 (JUST KIDDING I have to fight the wife for the game,,,but it does give new meaning to phrase HOTSEAT )

Have to throw in my two bits!! Would go with the M-60A3, has a very effective fire control system and decent punch. It was much more user friendly (meaning you could bubble gum, coat hanger and duct tape the damn thing when it broke down) versus my experiences with the M-1. Being a cavalryman at heart I have to say that I am partial to the M-3 Bradley. Once folks figured out that ITS NOT A TANK a lot of the bad press went away. Would love to drive an AMX 30 or a BMP one of these years just for fun, oh yeah and throw in a Marder, and those scandinavian guys are making some really cool looking AFV's would love the opportunity to see if I can break one,,,,

Guys, I have to say that this is one of the more fun forums. Its not some geekfest like the trekkie rooms or the star wars forums, no offense intended to those who enjoy those genre as well as CM. I am a retired armored cavalry captain, who rose from the ranks, and have learned a ton of history from those who contribute here on line. Im sorry to hear that some folks are going to bail out, those people have a depth of knowledge that ought to be passed on, I would support the addition of a "Hardcore" category to this website, but probably wouldnt participate in it. I like the "let it rip" flavor found here, it reminds me of the cav. For what its worth.

Captain Foobar, Im with you, Id did the "screw if colonel, have the bugler sound the charge" stuff and got my ass handed to me! But had fun at the same time this game is awesome! Im glad BTS included the Stuart, I hate to reveal my age here, but the old DC Comic "The Haunted Tank" spawned a 21 year cavalry career for me and of course the Stuart was my fav!

I am elated and confused. Elation cause I ordered my copy of CM on the 11th of July and got it on the 14th. YEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAW This game rocks!! Confusion cause as I read the times for delivery on this erudite bulletin board, Im frikkin aghast,,,I know the BTS guys are bustin butt, however, I live in Washington State, and I know some of you have ordered your copies before I even knew this game existed, and still havent gotten your copy...is there anyway we as the CM community can help BTS with their delivery problem?

HOLY SMOKE!!! I have to say I sure as hell learned some stuff here!!! Somebody let me know about the War of the Hats and other Scandanavian Military history resources, that stuff sounds pretty wild. To get back to Pillars original question the lack of tactics,,,not a lack once you put it into the context of the time,,,Im my humble opinion (yeah yeah everyone has opinions and assholes too,,, )the idea as someone said, was to point your muskets, blast away and close with the enemy and put the bayonet to them,,,the musket essentially being a very high tech spear for the times. There were a small quantity of rifles around, the Royal American Rifles which became the 95th Foot (Im probably wrong on that) but they were nicknamed the Green Jackets (UK Royal Army) but were used as skirmishers mostly. Agreement in the fullest on the advance of technology by the time of the Civil War, LOADS OF RIFLES FIRING BIG ASS BULLETS, but the idea then and some would say still is,,,blast away at the other guy, keep his noggin down, close with him and stick him. Again, as always,,,thanks for letting me rave!

The East Front version of CM should just be kick ass!!!! Imagine the bloodbaths were gonna enjoy!!!!! OOOOOPS sorry letting a bit of the real personality show there,,ahhhh ummmm yes I think from a historical standpoint CM 2 should be a very accurate representation of that theater of WW II. GODDAM CM throw in some Finns for fun too!!!!!

Folks, I sit here goofing off at work laughing out loud about some of the crazy things that happen in this awesome game,,,the one about the jeep driver getting killed and the HQ section sitting in the back like nothing happened while the jeep was out of control was pretty good! My question, or CM crazed idea is: Does anyone have all of these incidents squirreled away? If this is worthwhile let me know and maybe it will get me off my ass to make a CM Oddities page.
