IDF

I keep getting this problem, after a few turns the game just stops, it seems as though the sound has gone into a loop and frozen the game/graphics, I have to ctrl-Alt-Delete to get out of it. Any suggestions? I'm using 650MHz Duron, TNT2 Ndvida, 128 RAM, SB Live and Win 98 v1.

I can't download the damn patch!! I get n error message saying "server has extended path" Anyone got any idea's? I'm using IE v4.0

Finally after months of anticipation I got the game. I had to upgrade my computer and then save enough to buy the thing and now I've got it. I do have some points I would like to raise though. I few things I am a bit concerned with. 1) The game has already seized up a few times, something which never happened with the demo. 2)I've noticed a bad clipping problem. I had two tanks head for a waypoint and they 'moved inside each other'!!!! Also one of my tanks ran right over an infantry squad (w/o KIA's)???? 3)Another dissapointment was playing the Wihttman senario with the Tiger. I had the Tiger in my sights, 3 Shermans on the same road ready to take him out. The turn ends and whamo out of the blue, hocus pocus 3 German tanks and a few squads just 'appear' on the road?? No they didn't move up from the edge of the board they just appeared there and then?? As I say I had 3 tanks next to him so its not as if they weren't spotted. 4) The graphics appear to be a bit choppy, they're not so clear. Mainly the vehicles. I'm using a Duron 650, 128MG RAM, SB Live , Nividia TNT2 32MG Video with driver from May 2000 - I'm sure its the latest. Please guys, what's your feedabck on this? Guys, Please excuse my ignorance but i just want to know if i can get some more info on using MODS. Namely, if you install a MOD and then change your mind latter how do take away the MOD? Or lets say you install a whole heap of MOD's and then decide one MOD is no good, do you have to re-install the whole game? Also on a general note, where can I find more info about using MOD's. Oh no!! I'm waiting here in OZ for my copy. I ordered it 10 days ago and realistically I'm expecting it a week after New Years.

Has anyone got this soundcard? How does it sound with CM? How does it compare to a regular sound card?

I'm just curious, firstly all you gronyards after a few months of playing CM do you still recommend buying it? Secondly, have any CM players reverted back to playing any of the Close Combat series? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Guys, I am a big fan of H & D. I played the game from beginning to end and after the 3rd patch I highly recommend the game. I personally didn't know why everyone made such a big fuss about the bugs. It wasn't that bad!! I didn't buy Devils Bridge (add on) b/c I was pissed off that they changed the first person view, and I also heard that the load times were too long. But we will see what will happen with H&D2. I can only recommend this game. Excellent WW2 atmosphere and lots of fun.

Yes guys you read right. You guys should feel sorry for me. I havn't even ordered the game (CM) yet mainly because I need to upgrade my existing p166 before I can get the game. Having my wife due in 2 months and other bills, there's NO way I can afford an upgrade now, so I'm stuck !!! I have played the demo many times both at work and at my brother's computer but how many darn times can you play it. I've changed the experience points, troop numbers etc. I'll probably play again anyway. Look hear people I just wanted to know, as I said i'm playing Steel Panthers which I think is a 2D CM. My question is as follows forget about the graphics and sound, but considering the actual combat resolution and combat tables is Steel Panthers similar to CM? In other words is the combat mechanics and resolution similar for both CM and Steel Panthers? ie would a squad in SP have the same result firing against a tank in CM? How the hell did you blokes get it for $62? The bloody Oz $ is .58c to US$!!! I think $95 sounds bout right with the current exchange rate. Even though its worth it, I'm still upset cause I normally get my games from thre local computer shop for ~ $70 !!! By the way I still havn't ordered CM, I waiting for the A$ to go up to $US 0.65. Its too low now.

Fellas, Thanks for your input. I recently changed the power supply on my system and while doing so wanted to know which motherboard I have, but I didn't know where to look to find out can someone help me here? Also My CPU has a seven socket hole what does that mean? Thanks I appreciate your help.

Guys I know I've posed something similar to you before but I just want to know what you rekon. I've got a P166 32MB RAM, 2MB video card(**** I know). What upgrades do I need to make, to make CM playable (decently) with my existing system. We are talking less than $A500($US300) lay out? Bear in mind that I'm not sure if I can (or where?)I can still get upgrades for my P166 as it's quite obsolete. ------------------ lead by example!!

Holy ****!!! Lawers playing CM WOW I'm amazed!! You people are the "cream" of society. I honestly would have thought you guys would be too educated to play games!! Greg, You need to goto www.winfiles.com to upgrade the latest drivers. I'm pretty sure this is the right address, Its called Win files. They have all upgrades there. Cheers
