Hi, Just wanted to check in with you guys. When playing these games on a Laptop I find that after 2 hours of play when subsequently loading a new game, the system crashes. Has anyone else experienced this phenomynon ? When using a Desktop, I never experienced this before and was able to play for an unlimited amount of time.

You wouldnt want to control more units than that, otherwise you will lose good C2.

Shall I push my luck ? Would my system be adequate for TOW2 as well ?

I have played the Close Combat and Combat Mission series. To me TOW seems just like CM. The only difference being one turn based, the other RTS. Am I right ? I guess I'm just a bit hesitant to purchase TOW as my system isnt super fast. I just purchased a laptop Intel dual core 2 with 512 MB video card and 4 GB RAM. I figure COH should run on that but not sure about TOW ?

Just curious from the users percpective which one do you prefer COH or TOW ? I understand that COH takes a more arcadic approach, this is good in that its more fun. Others will argue that they seek realism. This however comes at the expensive of playability. Curious to know you opinions.

I just went to the nvidia web site to dowload the latest driver but the information received is vague. When was the last driver available for download is it version 53.04? Also I removed the demo for CMAK as I got the 600X 800X error message before game launch, tried to reinstall but says setup is corrupted?? Thanks in advance for response

Any newbies or people that havn't got Madmatt's sound mod should drop what they're doing and go get it from the CMHQ. It is awesome!!! Fantastic and such a difference. I highly recommend the sound mod!! But beware it takes a long time to download don't worry its worth it. The game is totally different and highly improved.

Well they download at one hell of a slow rate. About 3 times slower then a normal download. It will take me 4 hours and 40 minutes to download just the 17 MB sound pack!!! That's rediculous. Has anyone else had similar probs? Solutions?

I mean I havn't touched any yet but I plan to. But I think the sounds and graphics are great as is !!! Do Mods make it much better? Concerning sound MOD's is there such a difference?

Why the hell is this not possible? In the scenario editor there is no sand terrain!! There are also no landing craft. What can be done about this?

SPR was just a freaken movie!! Any average player, playing as the Germans should have no problem finishing off the Allies in quick time considering what they had in the movie. Don't forget SPR was done for Hollywood!! Its bull****. With those Tigers and infantry support the Allies are no match!!

Shrullenhaft, I got that driver 9x for SB live but this is the one I had before. When checking driver information in the device manager it says that the driver is from 8/99?????? How do I get the latest driver? PLease anyone I need more advise to get me up and running.

sdmike, If you have looked at my post you will see that I have exactly the same problem as you. in fact I also have a similar system AMD 650 Duron 128 MG RAM and 32 Mg TNT 2 Video with SB live. I havn't yet come up with a satisfactory solution. Some one told me to decrease the video acceleraltion in the display options. This may work but the graphics look ****. Good luck. It might be connected with AMD chip!!???

Crenedar, Your advice worked!! Now I can play the game for more than2-3 turns!! walla I can play the game!!! The only thing is that now the game looks so choppy, it reminds my of the Atari games of the 80's. I just upgraded my computer and I did it with CM in mind. Why wont the darn thing work properly? I am using recent computer tech. I'm not using a P166 or 8 MG video!! Its a bloody 650 MHZ Duron with 128 RAM and 32 TNT2 card!!! Where to from here? Allright, Some one on the tech support site gave me advice to disable the acceleration capabilities on my TNT2 video card. I do so reducing the acceleration and walla I can play the game!!! The only thing is that now the game looks so choppy, it reminds my of the Atari games of the 80's. I am dissappointed as i just upgraded my computer and I did it with CM in mind. Anyone got some suggestions? My sound card and video card don't share same IRQ. I have Duron 650, 128 MG RAM , 32 MG TNT2 Nvidia card. SB Live ps where can i get the latest SB Live drivers from? Thanks for comments

crenedar, That might me excellent advice. I'll try that now. I did check my IRQ's and they are NOT on the same IRQ No. Sound card 10, video card 11. Schrullenhaft, Where do i get the latest drivers for SB Line from? v6.... The ones I got from Creative are from July 1999!!!!! I hope crenderas advice works!!!

Guys, The drivers I downloaded from creative appear to be before the current one I'd had (11/99). Schrullenhaft, I'd got that 4 in 1 file but how do I install it? I still can't play the game. Where do we go from here? Firstly I just wanted to say that the more I see this problem I'm convinced that its a video/audio conflict. The irony is that I bought a game last year called Hidden & Dangerous. Everybody was ranting and raving at the bugs and instabillity of that game. Well I can play that game on this system with NO problems. But I can't seem to play more than 5 minutes of CM!!!!!! I am a little disapointed.

Madmatt, I downloaded the driver and installed it. The graphics do appear to be a bit better. THe only problem is that the game now seizes up within the first turn. When I first installed it on the computer the computer reset itself. I the started the game audio came on but the graphics failed to load!!!! After rebooting it the graphics came on but it froze before the end of the turn. Schrullenhaft, What I'm doing now is downloading the latest driver for SB live from creative. I'll see if that works. I'll then try the link you gave me if nothing improves. WE'll get there guys thanks for your support

Madmatt, Thanks for link, I'll now try it out. Doug, I've got a Gigabyte AMD K7 series (GA-7ZM) motherboard with a Duron 650 Chip. Schrullenhaft, Thanks for clearing that up. I'd prefer not to start playing around with insides there must be other solutions. I have a Nividia Video card.

Firstly I'm currently running CMv1.3 don't ask me why but I can't for some reason download v1.5???? Secondly Schrullenhaft I'm not 100% sure what you mean. I followed your instructions and then a screen came up displaying various settings starting from 00 .... Did you mean that on that page there shouldn't be the video and sound card,even though they are at different settings? They are listed together. If so what do I do? I tried yesterday to diable all programs except Explorer and Systray but it still failed. I don't think I'm overclocking anything!!! Madmatt, my driver provider is Nvidia, v.365 and the file number is 4.12..... The truth is it didn't specify what type of driver?? Thanks for your replies in advance. It is quite frustrating now playing like this. I played the demo on a computer at work (Mac) and at my brothers house PII 350 and had now problems at all. Now with my new Duron I can't go more than 5 turns!!!!
