ive been here forever and i still dont care to get it
seems like a retarded in-joke that wont ever die

Did anyone really make serious river crossing missions in CMBO / CMBB / CMAK? The TACAI handled it so awfully that it became an exercise in frustration more than anything. I only really used water tiles in the editor to deny spaces, make fords or aesthetics. I don't really see it being a complete loss at all.

If real time feels comfortable enough, I might start using it. However, for bigger battles it seems like it could get really sloppy really fast. Moon, for real time battles, is there a way to slow down the action? If so, is that applied to multiplayer as well? How is everything managed?Originally posted by Moon:When I read the title I thought this was a poll about playing real-time vs. WeGo... which might be a much more interesting question in the end by the way. But I don't want to hijack

red vs red will be awesome

Moon I can't wait to read that entry. I love subterfuge fighting and I'm glad it's a part of CMx2

I wonder what "civilian density" does? Does it make enemy "fighters" harder to see?
-
Awhile back it was said that bombers would be represented as a high-stealth unit, similar to a sharpshooter in CM, because there are no civilians in the game. With the game just around the corner, is it possible to get more information on how IED's and suicide bombers work? What has been finalized, are they still in the game anymore?

well thats fairly anti-climaticOriginally posted by Madmatt:Sure he has a story, but its a short one. He is dead in the middle of the road...End of story.

i was hoping he killed an important officer then tried to escape, only to be mowed down by a vicious .50 cal

fighting unconvential warfare will be very interesting

I want your game a whole lot.Originally posted by Battlefront.com:Yes, there is realtime terrain deformation. And it is sweet

I noticed in one screenshot that the craters actually have deformed terrain. Does this game have real time terrain deformation?

This is exactly what I thought. I think they're fine even at the moment, can't wait to see finalized version.Originally posted by Battlefront.com:The tracers are, indeed, overdone on purpose. They are quite necessary if you want to see what is going on at any decent distance from the shooting. However, the ones you guys are seeing are placeholders. They don't look that way any more

The tracers, just like in CM, are probably a visual aid. You don't see tracers coming from enemies in CM unless you've spotted them.

Hopefully his butt isn't too big. If it is, sorry to offend. However, my statement still stands.Originally posted by flammenwerfer:An enormous amount of butt? Are you making fun of MaddMatt?

this game is going to kick an enormous amount of butt

the ability just to give AI covered arcs is good enough, but this is just flat out great. i cant wait to make actual scenarios instead of padlocked units everywhere

I noticed this too. Perhaps the game will have graphics settings such as "Model Detail" with "Low" for low-spec machines, as in lots of other games? </font>Originally posted by Cpl Steiner:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by Capt. Toleran:
Just curious -- how old was the build he was using? The infantry graphics looked much older and more primative than what we have seen in the recent screenshots and vids. I'm hoping those were a lot of placeholder graphics in the preview.

This is very cool. I figured it was first-aid, but to what extent I wasn't sure. Thanks for the response.Originally posted by Moon:What you see is buddy aid. Squad members automatically move to give first aid to casualties closeby. Yes, even under fire. This can drain your squad's firepower, too, as you will have fewer shooters that way.

I've noticed in a couple of the newer March 07 screenshots, that a soldier is inspecting an incapitated comrade. It's possible he is just picking up equipment, but it looks like hes looking over the injured as well. I heard medics weren't going to be included, but I'm crossing my fingers anyways.

i really like how 1:1 units use the windows properly

id like to know how that panther got that close to begin with, seemingly with two shermans in its direct vicinity with neither being destroyed and one sherman looking the complete opposite direction.

You do the slipping off map, and only model the collision - enter from another direction, for example. </font>Originally posted by Michael Dorosh:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by Pak40:

JasonC,
How would you simulate small forces which work around open flanks? If the map is cropped for the collision, that eliminates the ability to fight for a shoulder and slip around.
Micropay for scenarios?
