  1. Good news on the home front! I got the geek at work to cut me a couple of MS Office CDs, so I am back in business. The new deadline still stands, so you have 3 more days to get those games completed. In case you are wondering how much farther we have, behold... Games finished as of 06/14/04: South of Vevi G1/S1 - complete G1/S2 - complete Overkill vs Nestor PHLGuy vs Tychus G1/S4 - complete Lindan vs Ace Pilot G2/S2 - complete Michael Dorosh vs MickOZ Victor Charlie vs Flammenwerfer Heavy Drop vs Pacestick Jaws vs Gator6 G3/S1 - complete Bryce Baker vs Combined arms G3/S3 - complete Nidan1 vs OWL Larsen vs SpineRipper 26/36 (72%) Things that go bump in the night Group 1 - complete John Kettler vs Kanonier Reichmann Londoner vs Ace Pilot G2/S2 - complete G2/S3 - complete Jaws vs Heavy Drop Pacestick vs Ted G3/S1 - complete Death dealer vs Combined arms Bryce Baker vs dalem G3/S3 - complete G3/S4 - complete 33/36 (91%) Squeezing the Melon G1/S1 - complete G1/S2 - complete Tychus vs Nestor Overkill vs Enoch G1/S4 - complete Ace Pilot vs John Kettler Lindan vs Londoner G2/S2 - complete MickOZ vs Flammenwerfer Victor Charlie vs Scheer G2/S4 - complete Group 3 - complete 33/36 (91%) Frontier Firefight '40 G1/S1 - complete Vadr vs Michal The Capt vs Sgt Kelly Enoch vs Tychus G1/S4 - complete G2/S1 - complete G2/S2 - complete Scheer vs MickOZ Flammenwerfer vs Michael Dorosh G2/S4 - complete Group 3 - complete 32/36 (88%) Retreat from Metemma G1/S1 - complete G1/S2 - complete PHL Guy vs Enoch Tychus vs Overkill G1/S4 - complete John Kettler vs Londoner Shock Tropper vs Ace Pilot G2/S2 - complete G2/S3 - complete G2/S4 - complete G3/S1 - complete Combined arms vs Direwolf Deathdealer vs Bryce Baker G3/S3 - complete G3/S4 - complete 33/36 (91%) 157 out of 180 total (87%) [ June 15, 2004, 10:40 AM: Message edited by: Kingfish ]
  2. I fired it up this morning, only to watch helplessly on turn 2 while Wittman first tracked a Cromwell less than 50 meters away, then turn 90 degrees to engage a Company HQ that was down to 2 men. I have to admit the resulting fireball was beautiful, but 2 months premature. If ever there was a scenario that could profit from an armor only command, this one is it.
  3. Note the open aperture in the front quarter panel where the foot operated Pak43 would have normally been mounted. In this example it looks like they removed the gun and went some kind of jury-rigged flamethrower. Must have been desperate times.
  4. Sorry my friend, but I am booked solid with the ROW tournament and various other projects. Try the opponent finder forums. I'm sure you'll find someone there.
  5. If your AAR e-mail to Holien bounces back you can send them to me or Spanish bombs and we'll forward them.
  6. According to this site, one of the units defending Lorient was the 265th infantry division, although there may have been others.
  7. Yes, send me the last file before the surrender. I will help you finish out the game.
  8. Good Lord! Is it almost time???? Well, kinda... First, lets get everyone up to date on games completed, blah, blah, blah... We are at 85% and still have time left, so keep cranking away! Speaking of time left, there have been some recent developments on my end that has forced me to change the deadline for the tourney. To make a long story short, about two weeks ago my computer was hosed with a virus, and I was forced to do a full system recovery to clean it out. While it got me back and running, it also wiped out every program that was not originally installed. One of those programs was MS office, which includes Excel. Thats what I was using to record the scores (relax, I saved multiple copies). So, what this means is instead of calculating the scores at home on June 14th (Tuesday) I will instead do it from work on the 18th (Friday). Therefore, the new deadline is noon, Thurday June 17th. That afternoon I will post the scores in this thread, and you all have 24 hours to contact me if the scores are incorrect. After calculating the scores I will send them to Jarmo Hurri (Nabla) so that he can run it through his program. Hopefully by that weekend we will have a pre-AAR winner announced. Due to this extension we will also extend the deadline for AARs by one week, but we need to get the first step taken care of before we can announce the deadline for AARs. If all goes well we will have 12 finalists announced and the finals started by the first week of July. That is what I am shooting for. You know have an additional 2 days to complete your games. Not much, but that is really all I can grant at this point. Please use this time wisely and get those games completed. Every score submitted makes the final calculations that much more accurate. Now, as for the issue of surrenders, the rules are clear on why this is prohibited. We still have replacement players ready to go, and in a pinch I could step in to help out, but you'll need to let me know asap if you can't continue. OK, so are we all clear on whats going on? June 17th deadline, no surrenders, Keep cranking away on those turns and AARs. We need both to get us into the finals.
  9. Anyone know what version of Churchills were used by the 34th armd. Brigade during this time?
  10. A good substitute for the wheeled 88 would be the Italian 90mm truck mounted AT gun. Blast and penetration values are roughly the same.
  11. The CS tanks carry a small loadout of HE, but the 3" gun is somewhat inaccurate. The exception to that are the very early CS tanks, which fielded only smoke rounds. The Honeys started appearing in Nov '41, and they carry a good mix of HE / AP. The Grants followed in the spring of '42, and the Shermans in late '42.
  12. Next battle? Doesn't it normally take more time than that? Depending on settings, of course... </font>
  13. Sorry, my goof. Turns out I do have the 56.64 drivers loaded. Snagged it from Nvidia the same day I posted. Still hasn't fixed the problem.
  14. OK, the (almost) final version is reading for a final spin if anyone is interested. Jon, I am sending you a copy. Let me know what you think of it, what needs tweaking, etc. BTW, I was wrong on the number of guns, its 106, and rounds, 3800+.
  15. Recently did a full system recovery, and now all my explosions in CMBO are white blocks. Those in CMAK are fine. my system specs are: AMD 1.13 Win ME 32 meg GeForce 256 (driver is 4.14) DirectX 9.0 Any suggestions?
  16. Ah, but the question is did the other 35 players who played the same scenario and side score better or worse than you? As for whether or not to write an AAR, there was a player in the ROW III regular tourney that missed getting into the finals by a fraction of a point, even though he scored consistently higher than the next guy in line. The reason? You guessed it - AARs. The #2 guy wrote all his, and the bonus points he received was *just* enough to get him in.
  17. I am putting the finishing touches on a scenario that depicts the 28th Maori battalion's night attack on the El Mreir depression. Best played as allies vs A.I., it features a 112-gun / 6,000 round opening barrage. Of course, Jon is listed in the credits
  18. I'm still here, and in fact have just sent the replacement player his briefings and passwords. All he needs is for you to send him your latest game file to get started. Here is his address: pmreilly@cox.net I understand you are (or will be) out of the country until next week, but see what you can work out with him. He lives in California, so TCP is a possibility.
  19. Good lord Tar! You are taking us deep into the Grog forest with your last post. What next? The Lat / long coordinates of each soldier at any given time? Still, it is good to know these things, and I do appreciate the info. My op's starting point is now dusk as opposed to night. Jon, Just curious, would it be SOP for rocket- armed Typhoons to prep a crossing point? What would be the advantage of this over say a standard tube barrage?
  20. Old fart Happy Birthday, Smitty
  21. No, it is SW of Caen on the east bank of the Orne. Too far for even Warspite to hit. Besides, why bother with NAS at all. According to Michael Reynolds in Steel inferno, the bridgehead was supported by 7 regiments of artillery.
  22. Possible, although the time of day noted seems a bit late (to me at least) for CAS. This seems more likely. The 271st ID didn't arrive in Normandy until late July, and may not have been "properly introduced" to British artillery until the Grimbosq assault.
  23. Note the bolded sections within each scenario listing. This means that this section has completed all the games for that particular scenario. This makes the list easier to read. So, if you don't see your name listed check to see if your section is. If so, then consider your game recorded. PittPanther31, My records show you as still playing in 'Squeezing the melon' and 'Retreat from Metemma'. Let me know if this is incorrect.
