Black Screen After 3D model loading
CanuckinDixie replied to VenomCoil's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
I was ahving the same problem after ustalling OS8.6. It was wrking fine with OS8.5. It seems as though there is a conflict with a combination of ATI/OS8.6/CM. I had to disable the ATI resource manager for the probem to go away. The game will run but the graphics appear a little more primitive. Hopefully a repair patch can be worked out soon. -
Basicaly it boils down to a very cluttered screen. 'nuff said...end of argument.

Average CM Player Age...Now vs. Then

I doubt very much that the delay is the fault of BTS or USPS. i'd have to say its probably with Customs. Sometimes those Customs officials tend to go on a headtrip. Whenever I fly up to visit the biggest pain in the rear is with customs. The immigration officers are usuallt pretty decent.

Reasons CM cant be bought & Downloaded Online????
CanuckinDixie replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)

quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: CommanderC, please read my last response above. There are many reasons why we do not have an interest in a downloadable option. The market is small for such a feature, and therefore we would have to duplicate our services. I live in the US and only have a 28.8 modem connection. I'll be damned if I buy anything that takes 30 hours to download since I would get disconnected before that time period is up. And I don't have to pay for every minute I use the phone like most of the rest of the planet Earth. And like the VAST MAJORITY of our customers, I want my manual in print. The first lesson for staying in business is knowing your customer. While there are some that would like a downloadable version, the vast majority do not. So if we chose online only we would have to survive a ****storm of Biblical dimensions. No thanks. Steve

Well put. 'nuff said. -

Keeping my fingers crossed that it arrives next week before the long weekend.

Well, shouldn't you be gearing up for the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" right now? Its only a couple of weeks away.

Who ordered the mac version
CanuckinDixie replied to Panzer Grenadier's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Playing on a teal iMac....Mac version of course. -
Just thought I'd give your spirits a lift. Lately I've been having only a 3-4 day turnover on cards I've mailed from North Carolina to Calgary. They're just greeting cards sent regular airmail so CM should be getting there rather qucikly...unless customs sticks its nose into it.

I go to work at JSC just south of Mount Airy every day, just across 52 from the huge golfball on a tee water tower at Cross Creek Apparel.

I live in Mayberry and drive by the giant golf every day headed to Winston-Salem where I do battle against the foeces of evil on the wild east side.

All you Cnucks wont bedisapointed. You'll have lots of opportunity to show off that Cnadian pride. ...And yes, the names on the unit info are a mix of French and English.(I'm pretty sure thats not a spoiler)

# of Canadian Specific Missions?
CanuckinDixie replied to chris talpas's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)

quote:
Originally posted by chris talpas: Hi folks, While those of us who reside in the Great White North await the arrival of CM, I was just curious about the number of missions that might feature our fine boys. Could any of you who have CM already, give us a quick recon report on the number of Canadian vs German missions? Thanks Chris

See my e-mail response. -

quote:
Originally posted by Hakko Ichiu: BTS's charge hit my card on the 15th, but still no sign of the package here. I know life's a little slower down here in the Southland (NC), but still. Every time I here my hound dogs bark, I look for the mailman... {dang, can't change the typo in the thread title}

Mine was in the mailbox today at 1215. Surry County

I made my way to the mailbox about 1215 and it looked like it was pretty full. All of a sudden the cloudy skies parted and a ray of sunshine showed me the way to the "Holy Grail" ,It had arrived about 2 days sooner than i thought it would. I had only pre-ordered anout June 4. It must be all that clean livin'. The game has more than lived up to my expectations. ( although the wife cant quite figure out what all the excitement is about)

quote:
Originally posted by aka_tom_w: I'd love to hear from the first Canadian to receive their copy of the game. How long is customs likely to hold us up? Anyone who has seen their Visa bill: What was the total price in Canadian Dollars? How do we arrange to pay the GST ? any thoughts on this? Thanks I suspect some of us should see the game by the end of the week.... -tom w

whats the current exchange rate? GST is probably collected the same as any other mail/email order. I cant tell you how they collect as I headed south long before the GST went into effect.

Canadian billed! Yahooo
CanuckinDixie replied to patboivin's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)

quote:
Originally posted by patboivin: My VISA was billed on June 15, yippeee! I have never been so happy to add something to my VISA balance. Now all I have to do is wait after USPS to send it to the border, then for Canada Post to send it to me. How long will that take, do you think??

Unless the postal unions take a most inopportune time to strike....Naaah. They do that at Christmas. -
who will get their game today?
CanuckinDixie replied to aka_tom_w's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
With Canada Post it could be longer. ...And if the postal union finds out how popular CM is they just might strike like they always do at Christmas. -
How many taking vacation next week?

quote:
Originally posted by Renaud: Lanzfeld: I have to agree here. Many vehicle crews also carried other weapons besides pistols such as a SMG. There was some problem with that don't remember what. In any case crews, whatever their weapons, should probably be pretty useless once dismounted for realism purposes, so this omission doesn't bother me too much. But it would be nice to bail out with a smg or carbine or 2 and use them to hold some building as a last ditch! Come to think of it I believe crews of 88's had a single light MG42 issued as well as rifles and smg's. Not that they would be able to fire them while serving the weapon, but after abandoning they could be quite useful (if rallied). Also IIRC you can voluntarity abandon a crew served weapon in the full version or am i imagining things? If that were possible you could spike and abandon the gun if you knew it's time was up, then use the crew as very light infantry. Ren ps bonus points for knowing where the term 'spike' in this usage originated! [This message has been edited by Renaud (edited 06-18-2000).]

I generaly use my crews from knocked out weapons to guard POWS. (In the good old days sppikes were driven into the fuse holes of cannons to disable them)
