1.
quote:
Get a life, will ya!

Come on, lighten up! People want to cry about it, let them. Won't last very long now anyway. Just making the point we don't want to create a large number of new threads with the same theme, but I certainly wasn't asking for pearls of wisdom such as that quote. A few ever growing threads for the last of the pre-order crowd is fine. You don't want to read them, great. But I find the more voices united in moaning makes mine not sound so bad. I just wanted to suggest some politeness from us still waiting fan club. But I certainly wasn't blasting or flaming folks for crying. I'm tired of the "smell the roses" suggestions that keep getting made. But I can't stop ya. So you go right on ahead, but you best go find another thread to make them on, because this one is populated with a lot of the face crowd.
 2.
quote:
The ghosts I called I can't rid myself of now

My gosh, that was good, and oh so true!!! That made my day.
 3. Repeated post: I have a PLEA for my fellow still waiting pre-order crowd. Can we please keep the crying, complaining, or just plain "updates" of our waiting in a single or as few threads as possible? I know I create a lot of new threads myself, but I try to talk about something else and save the "I don't have it yet" for the other ongoing threads. My goodness, there is certainly enough of them. I hate to over populate this board with the same basic theme of "pre-order waiting anxiety" threads. I'm suffering too, but I don't want to make other members or potiential new buyers weary of it (more than likely are already). So I'm begging folks, lets keep these new threads down and stick with the older ones. I'm constantly checking them for new posts so I can find fellow pre-order folks I can wail with. Plus the humor helps deaden the pain as well. But its making my checking much harder with all these new threads. Just a plea.

 5. I've spent the last seven days waiting for it to arrive. I don't need a HUG, I need a straight jacket. It will come, sooner or later. Just wish it was a lot sooner than the now obvious later. But actually, I'm pouted out. I'm in a state of numb acceptance, realizing I was not one of the fortunate MAJORITY which have already received CM. But hey, someone has to have the honor of being last, even if that honor is not deserved. So I'll hug my fellow "last to get the pre-order" group. But when that CM arrives, don't even think about getting in my way. Mr. Rogers (or is that Rodgers?) will have my shoe print on his face if he is standing in front of the door, because I'll be out of here. [This message has been edited by kump (edited 06-25-2000).]
 6. Just wanted to let BTS know that I, as one of the loudest, obnoxious, impolite, inconsiderate, rude, and frequent complainer poster about not receiving CM yet, wish to convey my greatest appreciation and admiration for a job well done with CM. I make the plea that you don't get too annoyed with us cry babies. CM is definately something we've waited a long time for and yes, we can wait a little longer, but damn, its hard. BTS has etched its name in the annals of wargaming history with CM and we all wish to support it the best we can by spreading the word and getting those orders coming in. Your success is our success. We have a vested interested in seeing the CM line continue. So take heart. We are not just a bunch of meanies and cry babies who only have ruining your day on our minds. We are a bunch of lamenting posters with nothing much better to do because we are constantly thinking about our not yet arrived CM. But we still love you guys. Sorry for all the weeping and gnashing of teeth. ------------------ Garry Kump
 7.
quote:
I am also on a 21 inch monitor, so perhaps thats a factor

I'm using a 21 inch monitor too, but that would only make FSAA even more noticable. As per the TNT2 and GeForce, yea, I agree, not comparable. Its got to be GeForce beside V5, which GeForce will win where FPS is important and colors being more vivid. But FSAA is where V5 shines and it makes a big difference, even at higher resolutions and especially on 21 inch monitors. I'll be in touch. Will be an interesting comparison, if screen shots can do it any justice. PS: So that it not a telescope? You are actually peering down the barrel of a WWI land cruiser. Wouldn't have guessed it in a million years. Still looks like a telescope.
 8. Okay, first off I'm a huge SP fan and have been playing it for years. Played Talonsoft's battlefront games too, but I liked the individual squads/vehicles and more tactical feel of SP better, plus the artillery in battlefront games drove me crazy! When I first played CM Gold Demo, I was not pleased. I was just too used to the SP sequential turn based system of playing, finding the CM simultaneous turn based system alien to say the least. My very first post on this board was my reservation of this "new way" of handling a WWII tactical wargame (made only after a couple of turns with CM demo). I thought it was trying to be an RTS game and that sent shivers down my spine. Give me the SP system any day. Boy was I a fool. After playing a couple of full scenarios, I was convinced I had found something a whole lot better. The feel was right, the tactics was right, and the gamey stunts of my SP days were a quick way to defeat. Waiting for CM had me go back to playing SP again (I've played the Gold Demo way too much). I was surprised just how 'dry' the experience was. I still think SP is a great game, but I no longer feel its the best out there, as I had once been convinced. It took a long time, which says a whole lot for the SP system, but its finally been outclassed by something a whole lot better, at least by my opinion. SP has a great following, even today. It also covers the entire WWII period and even modern combat. With SP2WW2v2.2 (soon SP2WW2v3) and SPWAW making an appearance, SP will be around even longer. But I think CM is now going to divert a lot of attention. There is rumor of SP4 and I was so excited I could hardly contain myself. Now I almost don't really care. I'm much more excited about the idea of CM2 now. I'm a convert to the CM way. Makes me wonder how one of my modern day heroes feels about this? The one and only Wild Bill himself. First experienced his scenario design talents from SP original and then purchased SP scenario diskettes from Novastar Game Co., and I got them all. Then his cool support at TGN was truly a blessing. Now I see his hand in CM scenarios, and I really look forward to them (if I had only had my pre-order, oops, that's for another thread). I know Wild Bill loved the SP games, preferring them over the battlefront games for similar reasons as I described. I have to admit, I'm really interested in his opinion of this game and its relation to SP. So has SP been pushed off the hill as the King of Squad Level Tactical WWII wargaming? Can it survive? Try it after playing the full version of CM for a few weeks. Play a similar scenario of SP and "feel" the difference. Maybe too early to start playing taps, but with the future arrival of CM2, CM3, and CM4, you better keep that bugal polished... ------------------ Garry Kump [This message has been edited by kump (edited 06-25-2000).]
 9. Sounds great. A few questions... 1) You do realize I'm one of those whiner pre-order fools still waiting for CM? 2) Aghhhh... what chat sytem? Over at TGN? Give me clues. 3) Who is that person on the CMHQ Annex page peering through the telescope? 4) Screen shots, will need some guidance with CM, but I'm pretty computer literate, being in communications software for business and computer nerd for life. 5) When is MDMP 2 due out? Can't help asking that, those MDMPs are really a good job and greatly appreciated. I'll flip even more when I finally get CM. 6) Who designs your CMHQ and CMHQ Annex web pages. Nice job.
 10. Sorry Madmatt. The FSAA is not a gimick, even at higher resolutions than what Madmatt is referencing to. The V5 5500 FSAAx4 makes a HUGE difference, even when playing CM at 1152x870. Madmatt, I've seen your example screenshots from your new card. It is said it has more vivid colors, but I'm telling you, my FSAA results with the V5 is quite an improvement than what I witnessed by your samples. Screenshots are hard to tell, you lose something. Hey, I got an idea. Why don't we attempt to get some side by side comparisons at the same resolution of the same scene between the GeForce and V5, both using FSAA! Let me know.
 11. sbg2112, Hey, you must be in my neighborhood, for I'm also technically in Cary (subdivision off of highway 55). You don't have your email in your profile. You can find my email in my profile. Send me email, for I'm always searching for local wargamers in the area!
 12. Panzer Grenadier, Normally, you would have gotten it in 1-3 days. But you ordered before all the pre-orders went out, where Thursday was the final day. Your order probably went out Thursday or even earlier! So you should still get it Monday or Tuesday, just the same as us pre-order folks. Wednesday latest, unless USPS messes it up, though its remote.
 13. Hey, I got an idea. BTS should award the biggest pre-order delayed delivery complainer a Cry Baby award. I know I'm in the running, I haven't missed an opportunity to complain or cry about how I'm still waiting for CM. The prize will be a good swift smack on the head with an empty poster tube by Steve. I wouldn't mind it at all! Then I could ask Steve personally about why I haven't received my copy of CM yet? Okay, okay, I know, enough already. We know all pre-orders should arrive by Monday or Tuesday at the latest. It better be, waiting longer than 12 days after a CC charge is getting rediculous, regardless of fulfillment house foul ups. This is starting to p... Woops, there I go again, competing for the coveted award again.
 14. HELL NO! Ooops. I said that earlier today on this exact thread. Sorry about that. For a moment I thought it was someone else asking the same question.
 15.
quote:
I can't understand why you guys in Iowa have'nt gotten the game yet, while I got it back on monday and I live in Kansas City? I ordered the game only a month ago.

And so it goes on other posts on this board. It really makes one want to use those faces all over the place. But I'm above that. [This message has been edited by kump (edited 06-24-2000).]
 16. Fred, Sorry. Your reasons to think positive just don't cut it...
quote:
1. Dozens of new scenarios available for download

There are about 50 scenarios that come with the game. I don't think you would run out of playing those in two weeks, do you? Why would I be concerned about additional scenarios in two weeks? I'd rather have the game early and have the additional scenarios delayed.
quote:
2. Knowledge of possible technical problems and their solution (see the Bug board)

Again, how many volunteers do you think you will find that would be willing to shelve their CM to wait until possible technical issues are defined. If we wanted to wait till then, I would not have pre-ordered. So, could not care. The fact is, there is NO POSITIVE or gains that I am about to have bestowed on me because I'm getting my game later. With maybe just one now coming to mind... The Art of Practicing Patience. But I gave up that practice on Wednesday went I had my own temper blow up on this board. Now I try to cry more professionally, with some consideration to BTS and a warry eye to the ComMie fanatics [This message has been edited by kump (edited 06-24-2000).]
 17.
quote:
I ordered the day it was released....(I would have pre-ordered it had I known about the game!).....I recieved it today.

I'm happy for the person getting his CM this weekend, but geez. Pre-order customers are still waiting and already non pre-orders are arriving. But I guess BTS can point to USPS on this one, 2-3 days difference or more. Okay, all I got to do is wait two more days till Monday, or three until Tuesday, or four, five, six, SEVEN, EIGHT, NINE, TEN...... <pant, pant, pant> Sometimes I wish CM was an unworthy piece of trash so I wouldn't care so much, but we know better. Its so damn good that this waiting for 11-12 days (I hope) expecting it to be delivered every day is driving me... Day 1 Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day, I have a wonderful feeling, CM is coming today. Day 2 Oh what a pleasant morning, Oh what a pleasant day, I have a nagging feeling, CM please be here today. Day 3 Oh what an average morning, Oh what an average day, I got a funny feeling, CM won't show up today. Day 4 Oh what a gloomy morning, Oh what a gloomy day, I got the worst feeling, CM, again your not here today. Day 5 Oh kiss off this morning, Oh up yours this day, I don't care bout your feelings, CM, OH SURPRISE, your not here today, But maybe another day, or two, or three, or four, FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT, NINE, TEN..... <pant, pant, pant> Signing off... [snipped out the "too harsh" stuff.(edited 06-24-2000).] [This message has been edited by kump (edited 06-24-2000).]
 18. It must be the voodoo3, but I thought only the voodoo2 had that problem. My old voodoo2 had the blocky smoke and then I went to the voodoo5, which now has the high quality smoke as it should be (plus the FSAAx4 as it should be ). Has anyone else got the voodoo3 and is it blocky smoke?
 19. Well, you know kump won't pass up a chance to wail about it!!! I ain't got it, don't know why I ain't got it, would like to have it, don't know why I don't have it, and if I don't get it soon, I think I have about had it. Think I'll go buy Shogun now and drown myself in some old ancient style of tactical mayhem while I wait for it....
 20. You are killing me man, just plain killing me! I also hope BTS is greatly successful and the CM series continues. Only I'm starting to fear I'll have CM2 before I get CM Now I'm back to thinking about the image you described and I'm in wargaming hell again. It also brings tears to my eyes as well, just not of the same flavor
 21. HELL NO! -- Woops, sorry... -- No, not really. Be civil kump, be civil.....
 22. Well, CMers will be used, but most will want to sound it out. ComMies ------- Yep, with the decline of communism, the term should be soon available for reuse. And besides, are we not at the start of a wargame revolution? [This message has been edited by kump (edited 06-24-2000).] [This message has been edited by kump (edited 06-24-2000).]
 23. This news just in. Folks in Apex North Carolina dialed 911 upon hearing a loud moaning noise followed by a muffled explosion. Police and paramedics arrived on the scene and entered the house which was reported as being the source of the explosion. No occupant was found and no structural damage discovered, but the remains of what appeared to be biological matter was splattered on the walls. After several specialists took samples, it was discovered to be the same blood type of the occupant of the home. An expert in the field of unusual biological occurances resulting in unexplicable phenomena stated, "It appears the occupant of this house, the late Garry Kump, has fallen victim to a rare occurance of 'Anticipation Eruption'. This may happen when many days have passed where the victim has undergone an enormous amount anticipation, which is repeatedly rewarded with disappointment. It is an uncommon occurance, but one that is disastrous if left untreated." The police are still investigating the cause of this Anticipation Eruption. Detective Will Ferguson had this to say about the leads so far obtained. "We are still examining the victim's residence. Upon searching the computer, we discovered several e-mails and a program called 'Combat Mission Gold Demo' that we believe may have been the root cause of this tragedy. So I would say Combat Mission is our number one suspect, but the evidence is still being examined. We have tried to pick up Combat Mission for questioning, but we can't find it anywhere. We have agents waiting at the local post office to take Combat Mission into custody, if and when it appears." This has been a news update from Apex, North Carolina. Forgive me, I'm twiddling my thumbs on this board waiting for my pre-order [This message has been edited by kump (edited 06-24-2000).]
 24. Well, the postman came and went for Saturday and.... yes...yes....ARGHHHHH! STILL NO CM!!!! There goes the entire CM gaming weekend. Boy, that concrete hurt when I fell to my knees at my mailbox. I ran inside the house before my neighbors spotted me crying. RANT MODE -- ON That is two weekends since BTS announced shipping pre-orders! 6/15 CC charged and earliest I have a chance to see it is Monday 6/26, maybe. Just my damn luck that my pre-order went out the very last day of shipments. RANT MODE -- OFF Oh well, time to go to the store and replace my supply of tissues, I'm all out! I can't wait to get CM (I've been saying that an awful lot) and forget this entire gruesome ordeal I've gone through. There is not a game on this planet that I can play to substitute or lessen my desire for CM. Bang head on weeping wall, bang head on weeping wall, bang head on weeping wall. Better hurry up BTS, I don't know how much longer I can keep doing this, its looking a pretty bloody mess. Bang head on weeping wall, bang head on weeping wall, bang head on weeping wall. Weeping done. Got to go mow the lawn. Woopeee, fun weekend. [This message has been edited by kump (edited 06-24-2000).]
 25. Oh, my brethren across the sea in merry old England are already starting to go crazy on the wait (born in England, Mother still an English citizen). How do you think we feel in the US who are still waiting for our copies? Heck, I've been watching folks who ordered later AND had their CCs charged after mine get theirs back a few days ago, and I'm still singing the empty mail box blues. I'm on the same coast (NC) as BTS and still nothing. Its almost enough to make me switch to warm beer! But not that bad yet. I'm with you, that gun looks tempting. But you know, CM is so GOOD that there is no way we can take that option out from this horrid waiting. CM is worth waiting another year if necessary. I DIDN'T SAY THAT!!! (knocking on wood)
