  1. Zitadelle- Try downloading them again... I'm trying to get my Mac to play nicely with the rest of the PC world! -Joshik
  2. OK... I'm just about done with this one! These are BETA pictures: Several of you thought the colors were too light, so I made another version that's darkened: This mod also has a bit of sharpening. The light one does also (though the pictures above don't show it). If you would like to test these beta versions, you can download them here: Joshik Panther GL BETA - normal Joshik Panther GL BETA - darkened Try them out, and please tell me what you think! -Joshik ps- can someone help me out with the CMMOS-ification of this project?
  3. I'm STILL working on my pair o'Panthers, a G and a G Late. It's been about eight months now. I swear, if I was in charge of Panther production at the M.A.N. factory, the war would have been over by 1943... -Joshik
  4. Here is the joke in question: Wenn ist das Nunstuck git und Slotermeyer? Ja! Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput! I’ve done some research at the Bundesarchive and found the following information: Following the devastating success of the Allied Joke, the Germans feverishly launched their own program. Tests were conducted at Peenemunde in the Fall of 1944, but initial tests were disappointing. This version never reached the translation stage. The KpfWW I Ausf.B was given the green light by Hitler, and in the Spring of 1945, the German "V-Joke" was unleashed on England via shortwave transmission: "Der ver zwei peanuts, valking down der strasse, and von vas... assaulted! peanut. Ho-ho-ho-ho. " (Radio bursts into 'Deutschland Über Alles') Results proved less than spectacular. Hope this information is useful! -Joshik
  5. Ooohh! Ooohh! Ooohh! I can help with this one! Joshik's Winter Hoods The pictures aren't great, but the grey hoods do look cool in winter scenarios, for both sides... Enjoy! -Joshik
  6. Check this out: 1/3 Scale Jagdpanther "His main gun, a 12 gage automatic shot gun, is a 1 1/2 inch diameter steel tube that houses his barrel and shot gun. His 88mm high velocity gun barrel and muzzle brake are made and from machined PVC. His 7.92mm mantel machine gun is made and machined from round aluminum and can be made to shoot 22 caliber rounds from any automatic pistol..."   -Joshik
  7. FYI: Panzer MG sight -Joshik
  8. Let's see... there was some last-minute talk about not awarding "A Beautiful Mind" the Best Picture Oscar, since the movie omitted the fact the lead character was gay and probably anti-semetic. If ABM was not given the award, you would probably have complained that the "left-wing morons" let political correctness rule the day. So... ABM wins: it's the left-wing's fault. ABM doesn't win: it's the left-wing's fault. Either way, the right-wing cranks get to squawk about it. Another thing... prior to these awards, no black actress has ever received the Best Actress award. IIRC, a black lady won Best Supporting Actress for the role of the "mammy" in Gone With The Wind. As for men, I think Sidney Potier was the only black man to win Best Actor. So this night was a pretty big deal for black folks. Can't you be happy for them? -Joshik
  9. To answer some questions & comments: Juju-- I'm happy to report that this mod is no higher in resolution than any of the other "hi-res" mods. I guess the main secret is finding good source material. But I do have a simple trick I use (I'm writing more about this in an article for PawBroon and his wonderful site MODS & MODDERS . The trick is this: when finding a good piece of source material, double its size (increase pixel size by 200%) before copying it and pasting it into your new BMP. When you shrink this down to fit your BMP, you often pick up lots of detail. The downside is that sometimes really small images that are enlarged might become a bit blurry... it depends on the original image. Illo-- good point about the chicken wire... let me mess with that! Voidhawk-- you are absolutely correct. Your Annotated Textures have been a great aid. I urge all modders to pick these up! They really help! K_Tiger-- I guess you mean "kill" rings around the gun barrel... ok, I can do that! Kestrel-- As I've been researching Panthers, I've seen alot of photos with lots of spare tracks mounted on the turret... I guess they needed all the protection they could get. Anyways, that's the way this particular model looks, but I'm doing some other Panthers that have no treads on the turret... maybe some Zimmerit, though! PEIPER#1-- absolutely correct! Although I've also used parts of this, especially the right side hull. What a great site! The general consensus is that overall, the colors are too light. When I get done making corrections, I'll go back and change the brightness/contrast levels for the BMPs. Here's a quick example: Are these colors better? Seriously, guys, your input really helps me and keeps me motivated. Thank you very much for your input! -Joshik [ March 21, 2002, 02:44 PM: Message edited by: Joshik ]
  10. Since the boss is away this week, I've actually had some time to work on this. It still needs a lower-front, cupola, and much tweaking around the wheels... but it's getting there! Just in time for Spring ('45)! -Joshik
  11. ...I did some more research, and discovered that the Soviets actually released a poster commemorating the event: -Joshik
  12. just saw the Weathering article.... very nicely done! Kudos! -Joshik ps- I'm working on a BIG article for you, if you're interested...
  13. Just in time for CMBB: a newly-released recording of Soviet troops celebrating after joining up with US forces along the Elbe river! The sound quality is astonishingly clear. Soviet Victory Song -Joshik
  14. Hi guys... I came across this photo on the net, and played around a bit with it in Photoshop. It shows two GIs standing on top of a dead Tiger tank. I'm using it as my desktop screen, and thought some of you might like it as well... Dead Tiger -Joshik
  15. Hmmm... I was working on this for a while, but never finished it... Maybe I can polish this up, if you like... -Joshik
  16. Andrew-- bless you! the open collars look GREAT! I think I asked you about this several months ago, and then I felt guilty about it, because you had already done so much work... but if you're tackling open collars, please, go for it! I do agree with the other posts that the striped scarf looks a bit wacky. But, come to think of it... what WAS worn under those jackets? Open neck? T-Shirt? Dress shirt with tie? I have no clue... keep up the great work! -joshik
  17. would love to try it... but as a MAC user, I'm screwed. Any Mac-coders out there? Anyone? Hello? -Joshik
  18. Clubfoot- Don't worry about bashing-- I thought your comments were very eye-opening! My problem is this: as a frustrated potential modder (see the thread "Modders: What are you working on?") and a Mac user, I have been spending all my time trying to figure out how to create these damn mods. Now CMMOS has been out for a while, and as a Mac user, I remain clueless! I have no idea how it works, apart from having seen some screenshots. It looks cool, but I haven't had time to delve into "ruleset numbers" (you have to petition for them???), naming conventions and the like? So CMMOS has some sort of master list that everyone must update? I can bust my ass to produce a mod, and then I'd have to get some sort of ruleset attached to it, and then other users would have to update their list if they wanted to use my mod? Is this how it works? I'm stuck in the old-school way of seeing a mod I like on a site, downloading it, and loading it onto my machine. You call this "Method B". I'm afraid that us Mac Users are stuck with Method B until some bold Mac User develops a Mac version of CMMOS. We're really left out of the mod party. -Joshik
  19. well, since you asked... I think I'm one of the most frustrated modders out there. I've got a bunch of stuff in the works, but nothing is ready to go (and hasn't been for about three months). I'm closest to finishing a Panther G (late) with "mottled" camo. I also have in the works: Panther G, Panther G (late) - winter, Panther G winter, Tiger I, and Tiger I winter. Oh, and the beginnings of a StuH (winter). I was thinking of releasing them in two parts, a "Panther Pack" of 6 (A, G, GL & winter variants), and a "Tiger Pack" (reg & winter). But it's tough finding good raw pictures of models to mod. I finally found a decent Panther set, worked on it, and then discovered that I was making one of the original Panthers (either BTS or MadMatt)! Talk about re-inventing the wheel! Oh well, at least mine will be hi-res. Oh yeah, and I still have a half-done series of Shermans modified into French Souma-35s. I'm hiding from MikeT, who originally requested them for his French conversion mods. I deserve a good ass-kicking from him. And I was trying some sandbag mods for Bergman's Shermans, you know, the ones piled all over the front and sides. But so far, they don't look too good. <sigh> How do you real mod guys do it (Marco, Andrew, Fernando, Makjager, et.al...)? How do you keep banging this wonderful stuff out? The only thing I've actually released to the public has been my Winter German hood mod, which I think is being used by about three people. Meanwhile, every time I turn around, someone's producing another masterpiece or three. How about a website devoted to the how-to's of mod-building. I'm sure I'm doing things the extra-long way... -Joshik
  20. whoops! You're right... I was trying to read the tiny text, and I must have read the wrong line. My bad! -Joshik
