  1. Don't beat yourselves up over the time to finish a game fellas. It finishes when it finishes. I've got 6 Pbems on the trot at the moment and my procedure is this: Get home from work/uni and check e-mail, movies take roughly 5 min to watch from whatever angle, plots take 10-15 min depending on how fussy I feel at the time so we're talking maybe 1/2 hr to 45 min to play all games. I then forget all about it until 1/2 hr or so before bed when I do it all again. This keeps things moving along nicely and if someone misses a day here and there its no big deal. I figure a 20 turn game on average should take 2 weeks (min) to 3 weeks (max)

I'm patient (ie. not in a hurry to die)

  2. I also can't see cheating being a problem, so what if you win? Who wants to be known as 'King of the fools' anyway smile.gif

Meeting engagement sounds like the best set up to me, (Inept, bumbling fool wanders haphazardly into the path of blind drunk, incompetant idiot)

As for which side to play, hell, I can lose equally well no matter who I play as. I mean in a current PBEM, Herr Lorak's surprisingly talented 'green' troops have got more than a few of my 'veteran' SS troops leaving large skid marks in their army issue underwear biggrin.gif

I would pefer to buy my own units as I don't trust the AI sometimes, in a recent heavy fog QB I recieved almost all units as MG's and with only 60m vis I got my worst hammering yet. First time I've had to surrender without the AI doing it for me....

  3. I've downloaded and applied the MDMP-1 graphics patch, (which looked great but slowed down my poor little Pent 200 too much) but my main concern is that the game is playing in a mega low resolution, the scenario titles in the menu screen run off the screen underneath the national symbols...

I had saved the original Bmp folder and have replaced it back in the CM folder but still the low res.

I'm using Qres with the desktop shortcut set at 800x600, but no dice.

It's no biggy to re-install the game (after saving my PBEM files) but I'm curious as to why this has happened, anyone else had the same happen? A search came up with nothing and there is nothing in the technical section. confused.gif

  4. All this aside, J.Peiper it is bad manners to constantly post in upper case, other members have gently pointed this out to you and either you have not read them or choose to ignore them. Either way as a new recruit to the CM board you are most welcome but please refrain from shouting every post.....

There are those here who are not so understanding.

  5. If any of you kiwis are keen on a cross tasman PBEM let me know.PBEM's are the way to go as they only take up a few minutes each day as compared to a sit down slug fest with the AI, once I start one of those I can't stop and I'm sick of getting to bed when the birds have started singing smile.gif

I'm currently in 3 PBEM games so I've got room for a couple more. If anyone is particularly anti-aussie don't worry, my dad was a kiwi and i used to live in morrinsville so i guess I've got a boot in both camps.

    SEE YA!

  6. Has anyone else had problems with the flag symbols?

I've downloaded ncrawlers bmp's and have tried both the "extract to CM bmp file" method and also simply clicking and dragging each file over the top of the original bmp.

I can now click on each of these files in the bmp folder of the game and see the new symbols but the game is still showing the old ones. My resolution is 800 x600 if that makes any difference. The files have been unzipped correctly I'm sure so this problem has got me stuffed, any thoughts guys?
