  1. Placing RR on higher ground would work... but im still missing RR bridges... and there are some more tiles im missing.... like a road set through marsh.... sure, roads are often layed around marshes... but sometimes around is no options... and there are definitely some roads on swampy ground.... i mean... we don't have to pay for laying the roads, so why not using them when the cost is irrelevant.. of course, these roads should be passable for vehicles...that brings me to another idea... i want fords which are more than one tile long... and passable by vehicles.... hmm.. but i also want 1.000.000.000 $, and so far i didn't get them... (but maybe some of this things could be done.... *include Treuhundeblick-smiley here* ) andreas: I finally got my CM, so we could do some Battles.... my smileys batallions are eager awaiting to smash your forces ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  2. I finally returned from my 3weeks vaccation to italy, and when i went to the post office, you wont guess what i found there.... MY COPY OF CM !!! YEAH !! YIPIEE!!! and, funny, it really has been to australia (you know.. austria and australia is nearly the same ) oh well.... and hi to all... feels good to read the forum once more... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  3. Or maybe you used Stugs or some other turretless tanks... i had no problems with tanks firing on the move in the demo... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  4. well, only high quality for about 400schillings a gramm.... oh... you are talking about texture... *whistles* oh well... can't try any as i don't have the game yet... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  5. Guess i have to try out that T-scenario on my own.... as soon as the game arrives damnit... im going on vaccation from friday on for the next 3 weeks no computer, no CM... it is driving me crazy oh boy... guess i will survive this too.... at least i will know how someon on drugs feels if he is arrested and doesn't get any more stuff.. ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody.... (you know... correct spelling.. my worst enemy ) [This message has been edited by TargetDrone (edited 07-11-2000).]
  6. Dave: Sure thing.. that way you can determin IF you ARE in a hull down postition... the problem is, if you are not, you have to spend another turn with minimal movement to try to get there.... the tank moves maybe 10secs, and you have to waste the rest of the turn just to see in your next command phase IF you have obtained a hull down postition.... if not, well another turn is wasted... not the most economical way of finding a hull down position.... if you tried to lay an ambush the convoy you wanted to target may already have passed you, with the drivers of the convoy laughing about that dumb tank commander that runs his tank forward and back to get into an ideal ambush position..... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  7. Uhm.. FFE... I dont want another hunt command.. but i want a command which enables me to go hulldown relative to a spot i point out when using the command.... if i like to hunt another target down, i would simply use the hunt command and plot a course... but what i find anoying is that you have hell of a time finding an apropriate spot for laying an ambush (if you haven't made your doctor in CM terrain evaluation...) ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  8. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Cryano wrote... In my view, it ain't broke, don't fix it...<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> sure.. nothing to fix.. but something to improve... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  9. Tommi: Iguess you mix things up there... you speak of your free decission to place any orders you like... fine.. that should be so.... but we speak here of a flaw that makes some orders (that would be easy to give in reality) very hard to execute.... sure you can place your 88 in the field, and charge a stronghold without cover over any distance you like.... so... why should i not have the right to tell my tank to drive up that ridge and target a point down the street while hiding as much of himself as is possible.... and i guess you misunderstood what lewis intended to say... well, the game depends on subjective skill... but on subjektive skill of making tactical decissions and foreseeing enemy moves AND NOT on subjective skill on what a great mouse accrobat you are... I guess the 3D sight should enhance the feeling and the imagination... but it should not be that you are required to be an expert at camera guidance so that you can execute such a move... i don't want a clickfest, i want a game that tests my tactical abilities... if for some reason i feel i need some heavy mouseclicking action i install the good old Total Annihilation and there i go.... Phew... that had to be said, sorry if it sounded somewhat harsh, but i wanted to straighten things out a bit.... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody.... (hell, i dont think i got many of the errors, but i tried... really, i did !! ) [This message has been edited by TargetDrone (edited 07-10-2000).]
  10. Well.... actually it IS already released... and most people got their orders already (guess im the only one who won't get it... ) ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  11. Oh well.. i don't fear it is located in alaska right now... but i fear it is on its way (or already reached) australia... don't ask me why, but it happens frequently that austria and australia get mixed up.... so far, 4 packets i received from america had an australian post stamp on it... i guess this time the same thing has happened.... funny... when i tell on the web im from austria, i often get the response"ahh the land of the kangaroos...." oh well... i can't stand this answer people, do something about your geography knowledge *starts boiling* phu... guess the lack of CM is slowly driving me mad.... *sighs* ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  12. Well, the game hasn't arrived, but when i played the demo, i listend to a wide array, including Grieg, Bach, WAGNER... oh.. and i got a cd with remastered recordings of Glen miller and the american band of the ASF....well that tunes well too.. ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  13. Damn.. it even reached Australia, but here in Austria im still waiting for it.... i hope there hasn't been a problem ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  14. I guess we discussed this New Feature already in Lewis' post "BTS: The hull down move" .... oh.. and steve.... i know that you are shown, if you are in a hull down position towards the target if you use the los function... but i guess, what Lewis, I and several others ask for is the ability to command a Tank to go up the hill towards the ridge until the gunner has a los on a target spot (which need not actually be an enemy... that way you could set up perfect ambushes) i guess, that in reality it was too possible for the TC to mark a terrain feature and tell the gunner to yell halt as soon as he can target it.... and if the vehicle has gone too far,the driver could reverse until he can't see it, but the gunner and TC still have a Los on it.... now, bringing a Tank into that position now would be a realy pesky work... and it would take several turns, until he is positioned right... this way, you have to waste precious time each turn just so you can see if you have gone to far or not.. so, simply tell, why it is so unrealistic to say to a vehicle ... Forward UNTIL you have reached a LOS to that point and not any meter further! sorry, if this looks like a rant, i just try to give some constructive critism, and i guess that Steve didn't catch my (and probably also Lewis') point.... (maybe i also do this because the game hasn't arrived still ) otherwise a fantastic game, im looking forward to grab it from the hands of the postman (i hope for his own sake he doesn't try to defend.....could be unhealthy...) ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  15. Hehe... we could call this the "Paging Peng" function of this BBS if you want to page him, simply use THIS or something similar... it will only be a matter of time till you get your response... (beware of being penged... ) ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody.... (you know... checking for spelling before WOULD save editing afterwards...*sighs* ) [This message has been edited by TargetDrone (edited 07-10-2000).]
  16. Rollstoy: damnit... if they have put australia on my parcel too, i got biiig troubles... i mean.. vienna is somewhat recognizable, but im living in judenau..... could be possible anywhere... well.. lets see, maybe it comes tomorrow... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  17. Hmm... I wonder what BTS is thinking about that matter... having no response from them for some time could be positive... maybe they are already implementing a solution into the next patch? at their support reaction speed that could be possible Merc: well, i think it is realisctic like Lewis and many others (including me) described it.. the TC marks a spot for the gunner, which tells the driver to halt, if that spot becomes visible in his targeting vision.... that is something i can't do on my own with just the camera angles (and i don't want to do, because i guess that is something the units should be able to do alone.... ) another question that comes to my mind... if we get that feature... what happens to Tanks with dead TC? i guess the gunner still could tell the driver when to stop, or how far to reverse.... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  18. How about: Drive on,German craftsmanship and technic is superior... that brits can't harm us.... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  19. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>kump wrote... 3) "AH HA! Quick, over there in those trees, some more AFV crew." "But sir, that Firefly that just popped smoke!?!" "Don't question me! Tiger #204 leads with a crew killed score of five and we are only down two. Now turn the turret this instant!!!"<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> *rotflmao* I LOVE THIS!! and it seems so familiar to me ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  20. I thinks Lewis' basic idea was a commando that allowed a vehicle to advance until the TC has a line of sight to the designated target spot and then stops... no matter if you target the ground or an enemy... I want the tank to stop as soon as he has LOS and then he can start shooting or scanning for new enemies.... i dont see why my tanks always go over the ridge instead of staying a bit behind it, just with the gun having a clear shot... i guess TCs have done that in reality too... well.. just my opinion anyways... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  21. Interesting Ideas all around... well... the thing about the squads splitting on their own sounds good.... as cueball stated, it would encourage the use of transports... and i also guess the lethality of running through lines of fire should be increased significantly... well , i only can tell what i have seen in the demo and read on the board, as the game didn't arrive here in Austria yet.. ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  22. Well, I already suggested it once... there should be the option to save the movies, yes, and , additionally, make it so that by entering one of the pbem passwords you can only view this side, by entering both you can select to view a side you like or turn off the FOW at all... Well, just my 2cent... now, if only the game would have reached me already... guess our Postal Service here in austria is enjoying a nice game of CM and ther is another lost packet.... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  23. I wonder what Beer Steve and Charles favoured while working on CM? Must have been some highly inspireing brew indeed! Simply look at the results! Or should they have been genii before? (nah, can't imagine... cause if, there wouldn't be such a variety of Game-Forges... Just one... B T S ) ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  24. Well... Wieselburger Stammbräu ... or if the time is right, Wieselburger Steffanibock or Festbock... maybe a Hirter Morchel... if im without alcohol, i stay with rauch icetea and water it on a 1:1 ratio... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
  25. uhm.. well, i dont think its very polite of you to destry a thread (may it be of as little practical use as this one) by posting repeated useles posts.. i mean.. this thread too had a meaning (and if you dont contribute to that in someway, simply dont post anything... but i feel it is rather rude to spoil a thread with simply posting multible entries not relating in any way to the content of the threat... even if MrPeng would flame me for the use of Smileys, that would be ok.. but not you simply post useless crap to get back your member status) If im not mistaken there exists a way to get back your old user stats by simply following that "lost password" link on ever posting page... Now, all i have to say, is thank you for your rudeness and for spoiling the fun out of this one.... ------------------ TargetDrone who has a heart for smilies and will defend their rights .... even if the cost is bloody....
