  1. I saw something similar when I went into the editor, chose SS Mechanized units in 1943, and then went back and set the date to 1941. Since there are no SS units available for 1941, BTS didn't bother to include .bmp's for 'em all. What you see there is the same effect I got: Some, or all of the stock .bmp files are missing.
  2. In Winecape's abscence, I feel compelled to stand up for the South Africans: Seems that 9403 (crew) and 9404 (platoon HQ) have suffered a bit of number slippage: As is, 9403 shows a platoon HQ uniform (instead of enlisted man crew), and 9404 (platoon HQ) duplicates the company HQ uniform.
  3. Oh, and one question: What's "Attacker Casualty Point Factor" (only seen in Static Ops) do?
  4. This is, IMHO, the biggest flaw with Operations. You can't fine tune the arrival of reinforcements like you can in a stand-alone scenario: All Op reinforcements arrive on Turn 1, in one place, in one mob. A bit annoying, actually.
  5. I posted yr question to the RDCM@yahoogroups, and recently recieved this reply: "Cyber fox unfortunatley ,is very busy and is having to drop out of main stream, macnab" So, right now yr guess is as good as mine.
  6. And if you want the gun rack GUI image to match, simply re-number 25006.bmp (British revolver) to 25007.bmp (Canadian automatic).
  7. Thanks for the links, but I've already Googled just about all that can be Googled on the subject --- it's hard copies of info I'm going to now. Already ordered British Airborne Troops 1940 - 1945 by Gregory, and Frost's A Drop Too Many, just have to wait for them to arrive. While I'm waiting, maybe I'll head over the the library and see what it takes to get my hands on a copy of the British Official Histories.
  8. I've been trying to put together an Operation based on the Primosole Bridge battles (13 - 15 July '43, Sicily), but am having a hard time finding sources for what exactly happened, in what sequence, and to who. (For instance, I've read three different accounts, and each one says a different number of 6pdr ATG's were in use by the Para's --- one even says that they had some 20mm AA with them, and another says they put a captured Italian 75mm battery into use!) Most sources say the German FJ's attacked from the north --- but one says they came from the south, as well. I'd especially like something with a picture of the bridge itself, and the immediate area. I was considering picking up D'Este's Bitter Victory, or Frost's A Drop Too Many --- but I'm not sure what amount of detail they go into. Any suggestions?
  9. No.18 set would have been standard; they were man portable. No. 38 sets were really small, but usually used for platoon communication within a company or company-to-battalion comms. Don't know how commonly used by FO(O)s they were, probably not very? </font>
  10. What sound does a British para make hitting the ground? *bump*
  11. Ack! So, indeed, what is up with it, my good fellow? Have you come but to taunt the masses, or do you intend to release this into our great unwashed mitts?

  13. Ah-ha! I didn't actually see that happen, but they were in the thick of it. Most of the prisoners I've seen remain that way the whole game.
  14. Just when you think you've seen it all: This is a former 50mm ATG crew eating dirt --- note lack of sidearm. Anybody know the percentage chance of crews coming up empty-handed after abandoning guns / vehicles?
  15. (Mmmmmm, I always have time for kiwi fruit!) I thought the seven-pointed star on the Aussie flag referred to their inglorious past as transportees --- you know, it kinda looks like the badge on a bobbies helmet. And I thought the red stars on the Kiwi banner referred to their socialist political leanings. You mean they don't?
  16. In keeping with the current Teutonic spelling fetish (eg: Afrika Korps), I pronounce it "Kay-Mak".
  17. I seem to be having a spot of trouble in discerning the subtle difference between the Australian and New Zealand unit location icons. No offense to any Aussies or Kiwis out there, but yr flags do bare a marked similarity. So, I came up with this: (Hey, everybody likes kangaroos, right?) And, while I was at it, I did something similar for the Canadians: Now, if I can just convince myself that a kiwi would look good in the middle of a blue/white/red target... EDIT: Oops, forgot to mention interested parties can find them at CMMODS.
  18. Dangerousdave, I'm guessing that sorta feature would not be included in a simple patch. It would most likely require an engine rewrite, ie CMX2 </font>
  19. There is no second set. Partisans only go Early- to Mid-War, anyway. You could always just re-number the early war .bmps. Or just leave the stock ones, if you like a change.
  20. As I was sorting through the list of CMBB .bmps that are transferable to CMAK, I noticed that the SS ("Waffengrenadier" for you CDV customers) Mechanized uniforms in CMAK are of a slightly different style. That sort of open-collar, tropical lounge-lizard look so popular with European armies in sweaty climes. So, rather than copy them over with some high-collared Ost Front tailoring, I simply replaced the oval, blobby thing on the right collar tab with the historically correct SS runes. (Oh, and I gave the senior officer a Hauptsturmführer collar tab as well --- he was showing the same rank as the platoon CO). If yr the anal type about that sort of thing, these will serve until Andrew gets around to modding them up in proper fashion. Get 'em at the usual place: CMMODS.
  21. Actually, I've posted a scenario at the Depot called "Hafid Ridge", that deals with 7th Armored Bde attack at that place on 15 June 1941.
