  1. While my better computer is still out for repairs I am running the beta demo on my P200 mmx machine with 128 ram but only a 4 mb 3d video card. I know I have graphic limitations but what is annoying is when a box appears telling me that reinforcements arrived or any of the others boxes (ie. surrender, etc.) the game freezes and I have to reboot the computer frown.gif

Has anyone else experienced this or is it my machine because of the 4 mb video card?

Other than that the game runs smooth and is a treat to play such a great game.

  2. For Movement, can you move more than one unit

at a time instead of clicking on every unit singularly..I got used to do doing this in CC3 by just sweeping with the right-hand mouse. Is there a way to do it in CM?

Also, I noticed when my Tiger crashed thru a wall the wall did not show any damage afterwards. Maybe it is because I am using my slower computer with no 3D Voodoo card while my main computer is out for repairs.

Even on my slower computer (P200mmx) I am impressed with the game so far smile.gif

  3. I recently saw a German Movie called "The Bridge" about a squad a young German soldiers late in the war who's job was to hold a bridge..in one scene a German soldier fires a PF from inside a building knocking out a Sherman and at the same time the backblast from the PF killed a man instantly that was unfortunately standing in the path of the blast.

  4. This might have been mentioned before but at the conclusion of the game what can we expect to happen? Will CM display the type of victory (whether decisive or marginal) or draw? Will there be a video like in Steel Panthers and CC showing medals being presented. Will there be like in CC2 and 3 the total number of kills for each soldier and crew member and medals? Or does CM show something completely different when a game ends?

    Thanks smile.gif

  5. Top games I am waiting for are of course number one Combat Mission. Others that I have some interest in, but need to play the demos before even thinking about getting them are:

    Close Combat 4

    Panzer Elite

    Steel Panthers 4

and the latest one, Sudden Strike!

Check out the screenshots of this real-time WW2 strategy war game:

The only game I am playing now is Close Combat 3 with the Real Red realistic player modification.

  6. From my Panther web site I got an email from someone asking the following question....if anyone has some info on this Panther conversion could you let me know? thanks smile.gif

"Some times ago I've read about a conversion on a Panther fitted with bolted PzKpfw IV Ausf H's turret which served as a command tank of schwere Heeres Panzerjager Abteilung 653 on the Eastern Front in early/mid of 1944. Well I'd like to know if you have some more informations about it."

  7. I agree with Fionn.

We were witnessed to a few glowing reviews about CC3 before it was released that got many of us running out to the Stores to buy the game only to find out the AI was ineffective, unrealistic units (thank goodness for Real Red!) and a major multiplayer connection problem.

The best reviews are from "us" the gamers and thus a review by Fionn and others on this board about CM is much more rewarding,

and that is what sparked my personal interest in the game.

    My 2 cents smile.gif

  8. I work for a major airline company in Canada and everything should be Y2K compliant beore the end of the year...Thousands were spent to get our A320 Airbuses Y2K compliant since this Aircraft basically flies by a computer.

But..you will not find me in the air come January...it is airport traffic control systems that worry me more than luggage getting lost!

In Canada the military has been told by Parliament to be on alert in case of

emergencies brought about by Y2K come this January.

In January as long as I have power to my computer to play CM I'll be happy smile.gif

  9. I started out with miniatures..even played a whole campaign in Sicily!

Next came the baord games from Avalon Hill but never got really into ASL though.

My first computer games were on my Atari 64 such as Eastern Front, Hellcat Ace, and Battle of Midway.

My first PC brought me such games as SP and SP2 which I really enjoyed, especially SP.

CC1 was ok but really got hooked on CC2 but

all the bad connections and poor AI with CC3 turned me off that game..though Real Red has regained my interest in CC3.

I am really looking forward to CM and to a lesser extent CC4.
