GriffinCheng, you can currently play CM alpha demo (or is it beta ?) on NT 4, though in software mode only. I have Win2000 with NVidia drivers wich support directx and it works great in D3D. Peter

yeah Fionn, looks like the Gov. is pretty much covered. It looks pretty funny, like: Gee lets see how could we get rid off some unwanted readiation material, why don't we shoot it at the enemy, not only we get rid off the material but we as well kill someone with it, brilliant !!! They said on TV that soldiers got affected by loading these shells into the tanks, as well as breathing the air when the tanks were firing as well as breathing the air around the enemy's destroyed vehicles... I just saw some show last night on TV, can't remeber which show was it or when it was on (Canadian TV) about how the depleted Uranium AP shells for Americans tanks affected Americal soldiers in Desert Storm 1991 campaign. There were reports by doctors saying that soldiers were affected and some of the tankers actually died due too much exposure to the radiation of the AP shells... I heard that about 10,000 uranium depleted shells AP were fired from American tanks. It was very interesting, anybody saw it ? Thanks a lot being and the good side Peter

I don't think it makes sense to compare PE with CM. It's like comparing apples with oranges the only thing they have common is they are both fruits. PE is tank simulation CM is wargame...I don't even want to get any further. PE is the best WW2 tank sim today, no question about, of course from my point of view. For those about the tutorial. You don't really need it, read the manual , then choose a scenario set yourself to invincible and give yourself unlimited ammo...drive around and learn how to shoot, yes PE is hard core sim and so it reaquires a lot of learning time just like say Jane's F-15, Microprose Falcon 4, or Jane's F-18 or SSI Su 27, get it ?
quote:
Originally posted by Fionn: Mind me asking where you found that Panzerleader?

Hi Fionn, The source is: U.S. War Department "Handbook On German Military Forces" (Mar'45) TM-E 30-451 Officially released from restricted status by the U.S. Army Center For Military History. I have seen this document long time ago on the HPS website. Peter -
I come from Europe, Slovakia it used to be part of Czechoslovakia, the country of Tenis, hockey and good beer. My grand grand parents used to tell me a lot about WW2. That's actually how it all started with my fascination with WW2. When the Germans came (as my grand mother said) everything was alright, people in the village didn't like they were around but there were no conflicts. A German Battalion HQ was stationed in my grand mother's house. During their stay the staff would help around the house, bring food and talk about the war. The main general would bring chocholate, and always paid for everything they needed with good money. That was around 1940 - 1941. Then they moved on when BARBAROSSA begun. In 1944 when the Germans were on retreat the HQ would be back and would stay in the house temporarily at the same time the Russians where in the village as well and grand mother had to accomodate them into the Stable, she was very affraid what would have happend to them if the Russians would find out that Germans are in the house. As the Germans retreated the Russians were everywhere. Everyone was scared of them because they were like animals, they ate everything, they raped everybody, destroyed what they could and took every watch they could find (No idea why every Russian soldier loved watches). My grand mother was a strong woman never afraid of anything I could see that in her eyes buw when she talked about Russians and Stalin she was very angry and upset and a bit scared too. That was the first time that I have learned a true story about the war, quite different from what I was thought in school since at that time my country was under Comunistic regime. I would say according to the stories I have heard from other people, I'm glad that the Germans attacked the Russians first, since Stalin was getting ready to conquer the Europe and if that would have happend (1942 I believe) I don't know If I would have been alive today, I'm not kidding here. risc replied to CoolColJ's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Good Idea !!! I will see if I can get some German sounds from Stalingrad movie. Not a bad idea... I use sounds from CC1, The Ardennes Offensive and where I can in every game I change the sounds to the ones I like... Peter -

27, When I told my girlfriend I like to play wargames she gave me that strange kind of look like I was weird or something. Now I don't really care. Sometimes she gets pissed that I spend more time with my soldiers than with her. I think being able to enjoy myself playing games it's a gift that a lot of people don't have. I want to stay gamer forever Peter -

Release CM without TCP/IP now (which is January right ?) and then give us the networking patch when it's ready, I trust BTS. The AI is good enough to play with for a while anyway and PBEM will do for now as well... peter

International customers pay only $37 for CM ?
risc replied to Soma's topic in Combat Mission Archive #1 (1999)
erich, I guess I was lucky pre-ordering CM some months ago...I don't really care to a certain point how much I pay for CM as long as CM will be good, which I don't really have to worry anymore Peter -
Tile edges are too visible.

Currently I have: P3 500Mhz Diamond V770 TNT2 Ultra (32MB) 256MB Ram Next year I will probably buy GeForce 256 with 64MB DDRAM. I agree that CM should support lower-end machines but it would be nice if we through some command line switches could get out of CM more for those which more power. Peter -
Apocal, I have a sound utility that will decompress CC3 sound file into *.wav files which can then be used for CM...send me an email and I will send the program to you... Peter
