  1. You answered your own question. You have to remember that your troops don't know you want them to 'close assault' the Panther. All they know is that you want them to move to grid position x y.

Secondly, they probably weren't too happy about pursuing a Panther, given the lack of AT capability of most US Rifle squads (Engineers excepted).

    I know I wouldn't be wink.gif

  2. Yes there was quite a bit of discussion. IIRC, reasons included, most predominantly, VRAM and CPU issues, as well as time constraints and coding difficulties. It is difficult to do what we ask - although it would be cool having a squad in a building when a 105 round hits and one of the walls collapse biggrin.gif

    Hopefully for CM2 wink.gif

  3. Well, there are no coded limits to my knowledge - so a search revealed, but obviously practicality and hardware constraints. Fionn mentioned of a battle with a regiment of infantry and around a battallion of tanks eek.gif Also, one of the other testers mentioned he created a battle with 100 tanks - just to see if it cound be done. Apparently it could, but turn calculations took around 5 mins IIRC biggrin.gif

  4. Try manually unzipping with PKZIP or something similar. There were many technical work arounds and "help" threads when the GD was released. Try doing a search under something like "Help with Gold Demo". Sorry I can't be of more help, but I am one of the lucky ones to have trouble free CM'ing wink.gif

  5. Troops can't dig in during a scenario because it is out of CM's timescope. Think about how long it would take to dig a fox hole - decent enough to provide cover, while under enemny fire. You think your boys in VOT could do that in the 30 minutes - unlikely wink.gif

  6. Although I can't say I've seen this happen - I have witnessed exactly the opposite. I had a flame thrower team toast all but 2 of a German squad in 3 bursts (the other two surrendered)

I've also had the AI do some serious damage to me with a FT unit. It may just be bad luck on your part, but I guess only BTS can clear this up for you.

  7. FWIW, Sturmbanfuhrer Meyer (of the 12th SS) had the 3rd Panzer Grenaider Battalion, a Recon Bn, a Panzer Bn (all from the 25th Regiment) as well as the Rgts anti tank and flak detachments despatched to both guard the Divisions left flank (due to the late arrival of Panzer Lehr) and to defend the Carpiquet Airfield.

  8. Pretty much anything you can imagine. The scenario builder is the same one that BTS and the beta team used to build the original scenarios and operations that will ship. You can build your own operations as well as scenarios. You can create mountainous ranges, such as those in VOT, or you can simulate city fighting - pretty much anything is possible wink.gif

  9. Unfortunately I don't think it does. I remember someone saying this a while back. I have a SB Live!Value, which supports EAX, but haven't noticed it being implemented. What you can do, is set up the Auto Environmental Audio feature to start with CM. What I did, was preset the AEA to a forest setting. It does add a bit to the enviornental sounds wink.gif

  10. Any mortar unit within C&C of a valid HQ unit is able to use the HQ as 'their eyes'. This means, if the HQ that your mortars are under - in VOT this is the Company HQ - have LOS to an enemy unit or area, all you have to do is use the mortars normally, and they will target the area despite being out of LOS.

For a better description head on over to CMHQ Annex, where there is a good description of the exact procedure.

You can also use the Target Reference Point for indirect fire with your mortars as long as you don't have them move from the position you originally place them in. Just have them target it and watch the rounds fall smile.gif
