Sounds great. How do you get involved in the meta campaign when the game is released?
-
Defensive barricades such as roadblocks, minefields, concrete pillboxes (for 88's and 75's)barbed wire etc, can be placed by the player according to the method designated by the scenario desginer.
-
From what I gathered from reading the transcript of the live chat from November 9th is that all gameplay can be multiplayer.
-
The issue re the stug has already been discovered and appropriately dealt with.
In the final, crewed weapons will have some self defense weapons such as rifles.

Can English troops, from example, enter as reinforcements when a battle is being fought primarily by US troops. i.e an ahistorical scenario where US troops come to the aid of bogged down British troops at Arnhem.
(I did use the search, but came up with no applicable answers)
Also, how do I notify BTS of a change of address? I did email Steve, but I have not yet received an answer. I assume this is because he is very busy.

Thanks BDW, that works

I keep getting a "you are not authorised to see this page" message with IE 4 Any ideas?

Wow. Those new running animations look sensational. As you said Fionn, they really look as though they've got something to run from, or to.

Go to www.combatsim.com, go the bottom of the page where it says recent articles. Locate Combat Mission from this. There are some cool screenshots here, and there is one with a couple of US squads assaulting two pillboxes. It's not very close up, but it gives you a chance to see what they look like.

Known video corruption, already identified and rectified by BTS. Matt, maybe try loading DX7 if you are desperate, but for me it has had many adverse effects
-
The other way to do it is to totally reinstall windows, not only over your old version, but totally.
-
Ren, you're right. BTS said a while ago that this is the way they are going to do it.

I'd trade one of the 88's in Riesberg for two PzIVJ to enter as reinforcements later in the scenario, just for fun As it is, I think the 2 88's can too easily take out all of the Shermans relatively quickly, with some luck. To remove one would open up a greater axis of advance for the Amis, but including the Panzers as reinforcements, say around turn 15 would make for a fiery end Doesn't make much sense, but oh well, I think it would be fun!
P.s I agree with what you suggest for last defense Doug. I'd also add some bigger artillery, just to see the town go splat
-
I use 7 or 8 to plot artillery and check LOS. I use camera 5 to make sure I get my troops in the right position. i.e behind the wall, not on it Then I wander down to 1 or 2 to check for undulations and good ambush sites. I use 3 or 4 to watch the action unfold first time, then 1 if something interesting happens. But when my Tiger gets going, I just cant help but tag along for the ride

You can already get a great deal of the information you are talking about whilst playing a game by selecting a unit and clicking enter. You can get all vehicle stats etc. I find this may even be more convenient than a manual because the information is right there for you in the game, no flipping through pages. From I can remember though, they will include some penetration charts and stuff.

and you will hopefully find a thread by Moon in which he posted the remainder of the AAR's. (i.e the thread contains links to the AAR's after turn 35).[This message has been edited by krm (edited 11-07-99).]

To get the effect you are talking about use camera number 2, then move in behind the team on the top floor using either the keys or mouse, to avoid the camera dropping to floor one.
-
Keys are meant to be used for fine camera movements. i.e when you only want to alter the view by a small amount. The keys are not designed to be used for sweeping quickly from one side of the battlefield to the other. Well that is the impression I got from what BTS said about this before.

The Shermans did when I played, particularly when they came under "hidden" fire from the 88's. One Sherman plonked some smoke down, and reversed out of the firing line.
-
First of all, how did you manage to get squads up to great the M-18s in time? Quite an achievement in my view.
I also had a very similar thing happen. I was also playing as the Germans in Last Defense when I took a 3 man MMG pow. About thirty seconds after surrendering, they "liberated" themselves, and made a run for the Platoon HQ (situated about 20 metres behind them). They didn't make it because the squad I moved into watch them mowed them down.
I was happy with this, sneaky buggers trying to pull the wool over my eyes! Anyway, I think that pow's can "revert" in favourable situations, but I'm not sure if they have their weapons or not.
Still funny to watch them surrender and then try and do a runner!

So far the moment I most enjoyed would have to have been watching my bazooka take out a Stug, Tiger, and two HT's within 3 minutes in the small patch of trees by the road in last defense. I was on the edge of my seat, screaming at them to reload quickly. Then I saw the Tiger slowly rotate its turret to them, but it was too late, the Tiger took it in the flank and was abandoned.

I think I've probably played about 12 games in total with a fairly equal distribution over sides and scenarios. As you say, replaying a scenario is going to give you the upper hand over any AI, so I would think my luck has been attributable to this, and perhaps better unit placement than my first game (which I got creamed in by the way!)
I still have trouble keeping my armour alive as Germans in Last Defense though, which is great because it means I play over and over again
One thing I loved in Riesberg was watching a Sherman plonk down smoke and reverse out of the firing line when my 88 opened up. A couple of minutes later, he went full speed across the kill zone, right into another one, hehe.
