  1. Say we want to create a new vehicle (I know, you guys have covered just about everything) in the game editor - is it possible? As far as I know my idea for trucks got the kabosh. (I thought it would be a cool transport for troops, artillery pieces, etc). Thanks, buddy
  2. Sorry for my ignorance - has BigTime released a list of the number and kinds of scenarios that will ship with the game?
  3. So, do you think my old Motorola clone with a 180 processor and system 7.5.1 will run it? I should be able to let you know tomorrow (downloaded the demo in segments on a slow modem last night - very painful.) I have a feeling the game sprockets thing (only supported by system 8.0?) will be a problem. Hopefully I can find a way around the problems. Thanks for all the support!!!
  4. Since the gold demo doesn't have the map editor option, can Bigtime possible elaborate on the interface for making new maps? How hard is it? Are the controls as simple as when playing the demo? Any info would be great - by the way, awesome results here, guys, I haven't participated in the forum much as of late but I was there months ago... buddy
  5. Thinking about the purchase as I don't think it will work on my motorola clone - 180 processor, decent ram but older OS... Anyone with any experience? PS - glad we won the war of the dead bodies....
  6. Verrry cool, that puts the grrrr in groovy, baby - YEAH!
  7. Hey, it being fall and all, how about having some fall colored trees? Yellows and oranges for the leafy trees would give some variety and add to the overall look I think. Just a suggestion. Thanks!
  8. The size of the maps in the demo - are they typical for the size we will be able to make in the editor or can we make much larger maps?
  9. Tried a little experiment last night - Last defence, played the Axis forces. From turn 1 I 'fast moved' all forces across the river and to the opposite hillside - one 'waypoint' only. Funny thing happens, all troops (if able) will do their darnedest to accomplish this including running headlong into machinegun fire, etc. The vehicles ran into the first obstacle (usually trees) and stopped without replotting or anything. Weird. If you have to plot the exact path with several waypoints, could the actual game include an 'option-click' or something for mac-users for doing this? It is fairly exhausting to do this 4 or 5 times for each unit. Thanks!
  10. Twain twacks, HELL NO! I'm talking about tracks left by incredibly heavy vehicles in soft earth - this would add so much to the game, I think, because it would be another sign like "sounds - possible infantry". You could see that a tracked vehicle went through here at some point. You could also look at the map when you were through and "read" what happened - starts, stops, reverses - IT WOULD BE COOL. Couldn't the tracks just be modified terrain like craters after a mortor/cannon blast?? I want some feed back here. THE GAME RULES!
  11. Maybe bug, maybe not. I have a 180processor, mac-clone (motorola starmax 3000) and over 80 mb ram. I have played the demo about 5 or 6 times and everything has worked out ok so far (except my graphics kinda suck because I have no video card). Anyway, played Last Defence last night as the Germans, I was getting down to the end of the game (turn 25 or so) and I had the bridge (I was gonna win). Anyway, I plotted my strategy, hit "GO!" and the AI started working. There are 2 different "blue slide bars" showing that the AI's brain is working on crunching the numbers. . . the first went by fairly quickly (as usual) but the second just sat there - it took about 20 minutes for the AI to complete! Then it jumped right to the "DONE" mode (I had to go back with the rewind to see what had actually happened). When I plotted the next turn, the computer crashed and I went to bed. Pretty weird. As a side note I would like to describe the carnage at the bridge - my tiger not quite on the bridge had just plugged 2 US tank destroyers, one of my stugs was on fire smack dab in the middle of the bridge, and 2 of my halftracks were burning in the water beside the bridge. Too cool.
  12. Could you, would you post a screen capture or whatever of "extras" or "specialty items" like barbed wire, tank traps, bunkers, you know - weird things like these that could be placed on a map? You could park one of each vehicle side by side and lay these items and whatever else out front just for kicks...I know you guys are busy and I'm not asking for anything huge - just want to whet my whistle for what else the game has to offer visually...how about it?
  13. Got any ideas for scenarios for the future, Bigtime? I have played the demo and it is very interesting - I am surprised at the amount of time it takes to play 30 turns! Anyway, what possible scenarios can we expect?
  14. Just wondering if any news has trickled down from command on the release of the demo . . .
  15. Some examples listed as supported by CM:Concrete Pillbox - AT gun (75 or 88), Concrete Pillbox - HMG 42, Wooden Pillbox - HMG 42, Barbed Wire, Anti-personnel mines, Anti-tank mines (burried), Anti-tank daisy chain (hasty), Roadblock, Foxholes, trenches, foxholes, etc. How about some pics showing these items?
  16. Fionn, Read in the above thread that Tanks with Hedgerows teeth on the front are modeled as well as other things. While we're all 'marking time' while we await the demo, think someone could give us screenshot(s) of some of the modified vehicles, all of the vehicles, troops laying mines, roadblocks, bunkers, in short, anything cool that might not have been shown yet and that might stave off our hunger a bit. Thanks, Steve (buddy)
  17. I second that emotion - at least give us the final aar so we know who prevailed.
  18. I know you've probably covered this, but . . .can you: - change camo schemes on vehicles? - change uniforms for soldiers (ie: winter camo)? - make the green grass sand colored for some desert battle? - place both manmade and nature-made objects anywhere, change the lay of the land topographically and generally create a new world for a new mission? I guess the question is, how powerful is the mission editor? - Steve (buddy to yous guys)

  20. a true story for sage, sgt rock and whomever else. . . I saw the 'highway to hell', the road from Kuwait City to Basra, where we creamed the Iraqis retreating with mucho stolen merchandise in stolen vehicles. Unbelieveable. Anyway, I'm smoking a Marlboro and up comes 3 Arabic-types. They asked for some cigarettes, we introduced ourselves and had a conversation about where we all were from. I squatted in the dirt and drew a rough drawing of the US and Indiana (blah, blah, blah) and as we were all squatting there I started asking them if they liked the allied troops - "American, very much" they all agreed. They loved everyone. So I, motivated out of curiosity mainly, asked them how they liked the Israelis. Their collective faces went emotionless - I mean deadpan - they stood up, literally dusted themselves off and left without another word. I guess my point is that I tend to agree with Sgt. Rock - many muslims in that part of the world see everyone else as inferior and unclean. They would, if they could, push Israel into the sea without another thought. People are people, I know, and there is good and bad wherever you go, but that type of intolerance is simply very, very ugly - and, it seemed to me, very commonplace.
  21. Citizen Soldier by Stephen E Ambrose is a pretty good read - he has a few others out there as well: Comrades and The Victors. Lots of first-hand accounts by both axis and allied.
  22. Not much brewing right now, so how about this - y2k and the turn of the century. How many of you anticipate any weirdness, plan on stocking up on supplies and ammo, think the end of the world is here and some spiritual stuff will happen or think that it will be much ado about nothing? Any comments - whip 'em on me!
  23. I think the German MG42 is an outstanding example of fine German craftsmanship. Anyone notice the similarity of this weapon and of the US Army M60 machine gun? Seems like I heard somewhere that the weapon is a pretty good copy of the old German weapon from the barrel back (with some modifications, of course). Find a picture of both if you don't believe it. Course I could be wrong . . . ah well, food for thought . . .
  24. "I know it's a crappy deal, buddy, but it's the only one you got!" - some Clint Eastwood movie "Enough with the negative vibes, baby! You think beautiful bridge and it'll be there!" - Kelly's Heroes, excellent choice, by the way. . . "Excellent cornflakes, Mrs. McDunna." "Her womb was a barren desert where my seed could find no purchase." "Mind yourself, Mordicay! - You see, doctor says I got this problem with my semen. . . " - Raising Arizona "Charley don't surf!" "Who's in charge here, soldier?" "Ain't you?" "You either surf or you fight!" - Apocalypse Now
